@@dialp4penguin Pre-patch souldiers seems harder, post patch easier. However, I haven't experienced _that much_ of EL and have only seen and heard of the incredible difficulty nerf Souldiers had post 1.0.10, so I'm no definite authority on that one. Pre-patch Souldiers(the one in the video) isn't even _that_ hard, but is inundated with bad mechanical design and really inconsistent level design both. Oh, and all the either game breaking or progress hindering bugs, but those are seemingly being fixed at a good pace and are thus easily excusable. Though, it's sad that we'll probably never see a version of Souldiers with both the proper pre-patch difficulty with more balanced spikes and without bugs. Then, it could truly be counted among the really stellar new indie metroidvanias, while now it's an iffy inclusion for either one reason or another.
1. Amazing video, your little narration bits were also really nice in explaining and contextualizing things :)) 2. I’m really glad that for your sake, this game doesn’t seem to have contact damage for enemies, which would’ve made this game just a TAD more difficult ya know?
@@Biobillybonez Only enemies that are actively on fire and intuitive stuff like that, which is one of the few well thought out mechanics this game has. Having completed it on a version before the difficulty nuke patch, the game itself isn't actually all that hard. Oh, and random bullshit difficulty spikes. Like less than 5% of the game is actually *really* difficult, but to the point of ridiculousness, which isn't IMO indicative of good balance or game design. This game doesn't need some damage or health nerf for the enemies or the like, but one actually lucid look through the game to sieve the BS out of it.
Love to see when indeimaus really likes the game and puts passion in it. Also game looks gorgeous and very interesting with its mechanics, I guess you can say that it's... DARK SOULS OF THE METROIDVANIAS BABYYY

really well done editing, music choice and placement especially the second half bosses. Thanks for making me feel like I went through this whole game and dont ever have to go through this hell :D I would probably never be able to finish it.
New video, good day. Indeimaus content is just so high quality man the wait is definitely justified and worth it. Not even that long of a wait honestly just not regular is all but totally fine when we get this caliber of video.
Seeing you choose to play before the patch reminds me of that darkest dungeon quote "overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer". Good video though!
This game reminds me of a game I played years ago called Mercenary Kings. Was fun to start and had amazing art, but slowly became tedious and boring. Wasn't nearly as hard as this game however.
the problem with mercenary kings is that, they had a great idea with the weapon system, but they implemented it poorly, so you basically had no reason to really experiment because at the end the damage of the weapon would end up basically the same, no matter what you do. also the enemies were incredibly generic and boring, most of the challenges came from tricky jumps with enemy placement. and the least we talk about the bosses the better.
Have a "similar" issue with Blasphemous right now. Love the Art and everything. But the platforming feels just absolute shit after playing so much Dead Cells and Messenger before.
This is a commitment you see only from the few and rare creators. A battle against attrition. Kudos to you good sir. Liked and subscribed for your efforts.

So, a week ago I didn't know what an Indeimaus is, but then RUclips recommended a video, I watched it and now I'm hooked! I really enjoy the content, commentary and the editing! Great work, loved every video so far!
Except DMC3 was reasonably well balanced and you have a lot of control over enemies once you get the hang of the combat system. And that is even with 'european normal is actually japanese hard' as some games did for some reason during that time period. This very much seems like you're at the mercy of whatever the enemies are doing and you get openings to attack when the games tells you to. The difference from all I've seen and read of the pre-patch versions was that - checkpoints are extremely few and far between - every enemy has bloated HP - two out of the three classes deal fuck-all damage and suffer from extremely cumbersome mechanics Being hard is one thing, but this game definitely seemed to have bordered on obnoxiously unfair in the least fun way.
That review that mentions the minotaur is such a typical example of people and their shortsightedness when it comes to game design. "Oh, this doesn't seem that bad, so all those people must be lying or bad!" At least he had the guts to admit he was wrong.
I mean, people often are lying or bad in Steam reviews. This was an example of someone disagreeing with others' assessment until further evidence proved them correct. I see no issue there.

Yeah, I agree with Indeimaus. I'm a veteran Metroidvania player, and Souldiers just had too many unfun and unfair mechanics in it. I'm all for difficult games. In fact, I really enjoy them. But it's never fun to feel like you're losing to things totally out of your control over and over. Hoping for RNG to go in your favor in order to beat a boss is never a good feeling. They just pushed out a patch to help fix some of that, so hopefully it alleviates some of it, but I think it's probably just too flawed at a fundamental level.
"It's supposed to be easier when you kill one, instead it become harder. whyyy?" The survivor always get "enraged" that's why the usual strat with this archetype is to bring both to lowest life possible so you don't have to suffer much against the last one on steroids. xD

As one of the 0.3% that beat it before it was re-released, I adored it. It was unapologetically challenging, but that was the point. I didn't see the need for them to make it easier. There are plenty of easier games, some of us prefer games that force you to really adapt to the controls, the mobs, etc. The timing, learning curve for the bosses and mobs all required the player to really focus on what they were doing with the controls. @@TheSixthChildEva04 Honestly almost sounds like they did it out of spite, OH YOU WANT THE GAME TO BE EASIER, WELL WE'LL MAKE IT EASEIR
@@TheSixthChildEva04 Damn, is hard mode at least still hard?
@@S.A.F.T.I nope. 😢

The end boss of this game reminds me how I felt when trying to get the true ending of Ender Lilies. I just couldn't do it though lol. You are a true champion sir!
ther3s multiple ending in ender lilies? just started the game
@@AniSepherd972 Yeah there are 3 different endings to the game. You can use the same saved game to get all 3 too so you don't have to play the game 3 times.
Is Souldiers or Ender Lillies harder?
1. Amazing video, your little narration bits were also really nice in explaining and contextualizing things :))
2. I’m really glad that for your sake, this game doesn’t seem to have contact damage for enemies, which would’ve made this game just a TAD more difficult ya know?
Some enemies do. Depends
@@Biobillybonez Only enemies that are actively on fire and intuitive stuff like that, which is one of the few well thought out mechanics this game has. Having completed it on a version before the difficulty nuke patch, the game itself isn't actually all that hard. There are just a frankly quite massive selection of either completely not thought through mechanics/interaction or just _fuckyou™_ design that has no logical place in the game.
Indei deserves more views. So much effort in each video.
Anytime Indeimaus uploads a metroidvania video it instantly makes my day. Thank you!
I sat thru the whole video, and my favorite moment is when the final battle with "My Only Chance". what an amazing video!!
God, those rising lava stages always stress me out. Even in old games, I hate it when I'm forced to not take my time
Love to see when indeimaus really likes the game and puts passion in it. Also game looks gorgeous and very interesting with its mechanics, I guess you can say that it's... DARK SOULS OF THE METROIDVANIAS BABYYY
I played the game - yeah, it's hard. Yeah, frustrating. Yeah, unfair. But what made me quit near the end of the game - was the game breaking bugs. Several times I finished some kind of a side quest and the game would freeze to hell.
Skill issue?

really well done editing, music choice and placement especially the second half bosses. Thanks for making me feel like I went through this whole game and dont ever have to go through this hell :D I would probably never be able to finish it.
Thank you, Indie, for that awesome video. And for consistently bringing the glory of Terry Scott Taylor music to the masses.
Your editing and music choice are insanely good, as usual.
I appreciate you persevering through that torture just to give us viewers some great content.
New video, good day. Indeimaus content is just so high quality man the wait is definitely justified and worth it. Not even that long of a wait honestly just not regular is all but totally fine when we get this caliber of video.
I’m around 20 hours into this game and it’s great! The difficulty patch seems to have really helped things. Thanks for finding this!
Great video! The end fight was edited especially well, awesome stuff
Seeing you choose to play before the patch reminds me of that darkest dungeon quote "overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer". Good video though!
Thanks for making these videos man. They're exactly what i need right now.
Hope all is well, Chris. Stay excellent brother.
@@ghoulish6125 thanks man. right back at you :)
Oh god I remember
They let you tinker with guns but after the Final Boss that isnt the final boss, having heavy guns made some platforming impossible
It is the only game I've reviewed on Steam that is below 5/10. I gave it a 4/10. It just got so boring...
Have a "similar" issue with Blasphemous right now. Love the Art and everything. But the platforming feels just absolute shit after playing so much Dead Cells and Messenger before.
This game is soooo much better than mercenary kings lol
I know you struggled on this, proud of you and I'm happy to have a new indeimaus video watch over and over
+1 for the in game bestiary and encyclopedias. I always love going through that and seeing the different art and lore in an easy bite sized format.
My current emotion is so far removed from the sense of wonder I got when I first saw the pyramid.
This is a commitment you see only from the few and rare creators. A battle against attrition. Kudos to you good sir. Liked and subscribed for your efforts.
You made it happen, game clear! That game+ was freakin salt in the wound though, good grief.
That laugh at the end made me wonder who the playtesters were, and if they're superhuman or not. But I'm liking just because that point of no return mess and then having to restart. You earned it here, and maybe even a premature like on your next one.
For anyone who can't remember where they heard the song at 15:40, it's the song you hear in FFXIV while playing Triple Triad at the Gold Saucer. It drove me nuts until my brain finally made the connection.
That aside, this was a great video! I feel sorry for the 100 hours of suffering that you went through, even if there were many parts where I couldn't help but laugh at your reactions. It's a shame that this game was so difficult on release; the pixel art looks beautiful and I would've been tempted to play it if not for watching this first. At least I've got Hollow Knight!
I hope you're able to get a lost of rest after this.
The song is originally from FF8 and is called Shuffle and Boogie.
Absolute banger.
@@deryckbrown7834 Oh, thank you! I've only heard it in FFXIV, so I didn't realize that it was in another FF game previously. I appreciate the clarification
@@solynacea No worries. :)
You're a life saver.
I thought Indeimaus was supposed to play/make this video, I am clearly watching LetMeSoloHer here.
I don't know what this said about me, but your 100 hours of misery gave me unlimited joy. Thank you for the content (and make that RAID money)
Man, when your boss music kicks in at 42:00 its so good. Great editing!
all the artwork looks really good though, enemy and boss design to the backdrop,
I'm a dad. I have to stay up till 3 AM so I can feed a newborn baby. When all seemed lost and nothing was going to keep me awake for that long, your video saved the day. It was fun, I got to laugh as quietly as possible. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I'll finish it the next time I have to stay up, but for now, here's a sub. Thanks again.
loved the video, I always hated when a game just leaves you wishing it was over. Becomes just about beating it instead of enjoying the game. You are amazing, always looking forward to your next videos!
This happened to me recently with God of War 2 and psychonauts
And kind of resident evil 4, I'm playing on ps2 though not the HD remake, and the laser sight aiming is soooo hard with the outdated graphics
fuck me that was a banger of a video xD love you man, props for seeing this through till the end
Man, Souldiers is a beautiful game but I can't see myself playing it in this state. I'm curious how much easier it is now in comparison but thanks for showing us the REAL hardcore mode Indei!
So, a week ago I didn't know what an Indeimaus is, but then RUclips recommended a video, I watched it and now I'm hooked! I really enjoy the content, commentary and the editing! Great work, loved every video so far!
Hell yeah! This was one of the best journeys through a game I've watched in a while. You're suffering was great, thx.
Holy shit we got ANOTHER DMC3 "it's too hard" in our lifetime. Outstanding.
The difference from all I've seen and read of the pre-patch versions was that
- checkpoints are extremely few and far between
- every enemy has bloated HP
- two out of the three classes deal fuck-all damage and suffer from extremely cumbersome mechanics
Being hard is one thing, but this game definitely seemed to have bordered on obnoxiously unfair in the least fun way.
My guy, you're literally one of my favorite creators, I'm so hyped every time I see an upload!
There sure seemed to be a lot of molten lava coming out of that one cauldron to be able to fill that whole level.
I swear the Furi OST just hits different whenever it comes up in your vids. Thanks for another banger, and get some rest after that one, lol.
That review that mentions the minotaur is such a typical example of people and their shortsightedness when it comes to game design. "Oh, this doesn't seem that bad, so all those people must be lying or bad!"
At least he had the guts to admit he was wrong.
I mean, people often are lying or bad in Steam reviews. This was an example of someone disagreeing with others' assessment until further evidence proved them correct.
I see no issue there.
BRUH! New to the channel, you ROCK! LOOVE your musical taste, the pacing of the video, great humor, and amazing gaming skills!
Dunno what's up with you Aussies, so many of you I just love to listen to. Shill Up ;), I Did A Thing, Modest Pelican, that dude who always explodes cheap earbuds, Alanah (in moderation), Sherpa Design, Hardware Unboxed, and some I forgot.. such a high-level output! I liKe!!
Seeing Indeimaus beating this game fills you with Determenation
Making an Undertale Joke in 2022 fills you with deep sadness
That looked pretty dang difficult at times not gonna lie. Killer choice in music there at the end. Maus killing it as always
I bet that 0.3% who made it to the end were ppl just like you, who were literally getting paid to do so. Because I can't even fathom doing this willingly😭
Anyway, great video as always and I hope the next game you take on isn't such a nightmare😓
i finished it on warrior too before the update ..... i would like to say most annoying things in the are 2 things only and ONLY 2 THINGS flying enemies fuck that AI and curse oh ya here a debuff that double the damage on you ..... and lower your healing by HALF oooooh i forgot how the paralyses was broken.... you can use pots to heal from it like OTHER DEBUFFS other then that its my fault when i die .....come to think of it it was hell a nightmare but fun one but one thing was right the crit vital are op as fuck i skipped the final phase of the final boss with it
Though indeimaus laugh at the end could be relatable if you have empathy
Honestly i was amazed by your sheer dedication that you played this game when it was still crazy difficult to a point where it is a bit unfair
I couldn't helpes but clap when you finshed the game
Nice choice of music bro, the way the FURI music creeps up near the end was pretty slick ^^
wish more devs would learn these is a big difference between difficulty and bullshit..
at now this game plays georgeous after much needed fixes. it's on of my favourite metroidvanias right now.
@@Moonlit_Melody The game has become just flat out boring, a scam, cause everyone who liked the old difficulty can't experience it that way anymore.
i recently got back into games while in my college dorm. and your videos have been so entertaining to watch and see what games are out now. keep up the solid work man!
You should not play rain world lmao
What an absolutely beautiful game. Also, I really need an Indimaus playlist in my life.
"It's supposed to be easier when you kill one, instead it become harder. whyyy?"
The survivor always get "enraged" that's why the usual strat with this archetype is to bring both to lowest life possible so you don't have to suffer much against the last one on steroids. xD
I bought this game for myself after watching your video. I just beat it for the first time and I absolutely loved it. It felt like the best parts of the games I grew up playing were rehashed and revived in this beauty of a game. Thank you for playing this and for introducing me to what has become one of my favorite games in years
The steam reviews are all people either complaining that the game is unbalanced and other people yelling about "casuals" ruining a great hard game. Good lord I hate souls fans
No matter what anyone says, you are a certified pro-gamer for beating this game. People who brag about beating souls games have NOTHING on you.
Indeimaus, you are insane. LOL but damn, we are glad that you are. Amazing vid, and amazing job.
I thought it was brilliant.
Yeah, but if they want to make some return on their hard work then they need to make it so more than the most hard-core can enjoy it, too...
@@allenbocephus Well there could have been a better way then taking the game how it was before from everyone else who enjoyed it.
The moment you decided to redo the tower and boss fight to get an edge on the parasite is when I knew I had to sub. Great video!!
I will say, I think I connect with this game more (or at least, wanted to, and it showed in my perception) but I've heard tell some people were UPSET when the difficulty was nerfed, and that...boggles my mind.
Thank you for this preview of what's to come. For now I'm still stuck on Dark Razor. :) But feeling incredibly validated as a gamer after checking my steam achievements and realizing that I somehow beat the main Pyramid section before June 23rd.
I will say, I agree the checkpointing/save-loading options need some work, and I think that's still true after the 23rd rebalance.
honestly indeimaus the cut and beat to "lets do this" chefs kiss
