- F1 Racing magazine sat down with new Brits on the block Lando Norris and George Russell for a chat about their hopes and expectations for their first season in Formula 1. As well as their sleep habits, the Formula 2 graduates discuss more serious topics, including what will be considered success in their first year on the grid, and the challenges they'll be facing as McLaren and Williams try to work their way back up the order.

I don't really know George Russell, but i've seen Lando Norris through online streaming (he plays iracing), seems like a really nice guy... and finally i get the ability to directly compare my driving with that of an F1 driver in something i do.... christ he's good

I sometimes get a hint of a german accent when Lando speaks. He's got an unusual English accent for sure. Nevertheless, it'll be interesting to watch these two this year. I hope they can be competitive in midfield.

@@OPC-sz2bt He can talk a little bit. He can count to 20 and say the easy things like ‘ja’ ‘nee’ ‘een klein beetje’. Things like that.
I've never felt I heard German from him, but i have consistently heard (what i originally thought was) a bit of a French accent. Sometimes it comes out quite strongly, to the point i used to think he must have lived in France at some point and speak at least a moderate amount of the language.
Why are people being so bitter and nasty in the comments -jealousy perhaps? Good luck George and Lando.

A simple question. Why does there appear to be a ban against an American driver. I know a few have tried but for whatever reason they don't make it. Please don't say talent. Something else is going on. What is it?

Money and talent. These f1 kids have been racing open wheel on European circuits since they were tiny. Americans, unless they come to europe when they are 3 or 4, are just years behind in terms of experience. No experience, means its harder to develop the talent. It also costs a lot, and no american companies like to sponsor drivers going to f1 because Americans don't watch F1, or F2, or F3, or Formula Renault, so it's a waste of money. Therefore only super rich kids can even afford it because they won't get any support from local companies. Simple, experience and money.

@@MrSvene Gasly barely beat the rookie Gio in F2. He did that because he received special treatments. Now Gio is in F1 I don't see much hype around him. That's better because when he gets good result, he's gonna shut lots of airholes.

Both Lando Norris and George Russel are highly overrated and overhyped, but they are Brits so they must be phenomenal. I am eagerly waiting to see who the English media going to hate after Vettel retired, but it looks like that they are already preparing someone to hate, and that's most likely Leclerc, or Max (if he drives for Ferrari which is highly likely).
