Re NameCheap, I can't say if it's gone downhill a bit in recent years as you say, but Domain renewal price is still mid range and personally, I don't care about their web hosting because I prefer to keep the domain hosting separate anyway.
if someone already registered with go daddy, how would they go about cancelling and purchasing the domain on another platform? would they have to wait for the subscription to run out in order for the domain to be available again

Let me see if I can remember without mentioning names. I wanted to say thank you for putting this video out as it made me think moving forward how much money I can save by moving my domains away from that one company. I’m already with another company been there 10 years, and it’s half the cost. The only thing that I’d say that you could’ve added to this video would’ve been that if you were already hosting websites with the company and they have domain services you might want to look at that too. And in my case I’m with a company, and it’s still have to cost so I will stay there but you made me think about pork bun though. I think I’ll stay where I’m at. I was also referring to cloud fair which I use.Quic instead because of the servers I’m using lite speed and it works out for me. I think that’s pretty much what I was trying to say and then proof it was gone when I refreshed and I did save it.
Porkbun 100%. Cost over time and just all the godaddy pushiness is a turnoff. I should’ve switched years ago. Ive yet to dive too deep into dns and other configurations but half the battle (price) is won.

While I agree that you should avoid godaddy, I do think their customer service is very good (at least in the UK).
If Hover doesn’t offer ssl certificates do I need to go elsewhere to get one? Are they necessary?
