" Sara's suffering, and Rinaldo's grief... carve them into your _cursed_ body and _perish!_ " I like how faithful it is to the flow of the original piece.
OK, further remarks. I can't help myself. The unnatural sound of the NES chip works so well for the surreal context. I have never played the game, so initially this was just a piece of music I found through an excellent piano cover by Lauren Manning. My remarks there were made before I understood the context of the song in the game, and while they still stand, understanding the context perhaps makes it that much more powerful. He's lamenting his lover, innocence in female form, and the profound sense of loss and resulting hatred for the monster who ruined her results in this depths-of-the-soul rage scream. Your version screams better than any other I've found, and yes I've heard the metal ones, again because of the disembodied NES sound character, and the way you've used it. I think you've captured something here, and it is startling and almost frightening how much this scream is cathartic for me. I too have endured loss, but in most cases the monster was myself, so there's self-loathing and regret on top of it. Blasting Lament of Innocence seems like a less harmful outlet than what others often do, so "play it again, Joe."
@@ShadowScorp99 Oh brother, how could I have made such a silly mistake? Of course her name is Laurence. Thanks for setting it straight. I'd fix it but then I'd lose my heart lol
Ay dude this needs more views. I actually prefer this much more than the actual theme. I can totally see Lament of Innocence on NES with this theme during the final boss! Great work!
Thank you so much! I've got another Castlevania remix and some more chiptune tracks coming soon. Hopefully I start figuring out the secrets of social media soon enough and the channel starts growing!
I have some interest in doing this arrangement with real instruments. I think I can do it by ear, if I can do it at all....some of the jumps in the lead are a little nuts, and it's very high. Also what do you call violin, viola, harpsichord, and acoustelectric bass in a driving, screaming style? Baroque metal? :O
Not sure, maybe neoclassical metal? Btw, there surely must be MIDI transcriptions of this track available online in case it ends up being troublesome, it's common for most renowned VGM soundtracks, sometimes the transcriptions are a but iffy but they could be a good start!
@@Promtastik Thanks for the idea. I think I'm getting it just fine by ear, although the technical challenges of playing it the way I want it to sound are immense lol. We'll see how far I get.
Good job, this is probably the best 8-bit rendition of that music i had ever seen, only one question though, would this truly work on a normal nes game or would it need to have custom sound chips?
Thank you! This was made using (aka emulating) the VRC6 expansion chip, which was used only in a couple of NES games, notably the Japanese version of Castlevania 3 (you can check all the expansion chips and the games they were used in in here: famitracker.com/wiki/index.php?title=VRC6#Konami_VRC6 ). The three rightmost columns in the video are using this expansion chip. In fact, you can play the compiled file of this track in NES emulators! I'm waiting to release all of the covers more officially as an album to include these playable .nsf files. Howeeever, one would need to consider performance and memory issues if you wanted to try using it in the actual console, although in the few tests I've run my tracks seem to be okay-ish. Also, there are basically no homebrew games with expansion chips nowadays, there's some projects from this year that are gonna try to go for it but that's about it. All in all, if one were to produce a cartridge with a VRC6 expansion chip (or something that emulated it) and use this as music, it would be playable up to a couple of minor changes/adaptations!

That Vibrato tho!
I find that most "8-bit" remixes on youtube are really flat BUT THIS?! So good.
Magnificent!
Thank you, Richter Belmont (◕‿◕)

For anyone else looking the channel is Laurence Manning, not Lauren Manning.

This is even better than original
No jokes
Interesting. It works as a NES track for sure, and you've done a good job rendering it into one. Thanks for sharing your work.
This Theme is symphonically beautiful and well made in 8-bits (Which for a moment looked like 16) is magnificent... Good job
Whoa! The nostalgic 8-bit! Noice! Instant like!
Hello, yes, I love you-

Simon's Theme is definitely one of the tracks I'll do next, I wanna cover the themes of all the CV protagonists at some point :D
