The original version is a classic, but this chiptune version cover gives the song a special touch. It seems that it was made for 16 bits, because it fits perfectly.
This is a great cover and very at home on the YM2612 given this song borrows melody and arpeggio from the Castlevania Bloodlines tune "Calling from Heaven".
yeah I don't really know the Castlevania series so i was doing a lot of searches for like "lament of innocence" with the names of old computers and sound chips to find the original - didn't even occur to me this was all transcribed and arranged "down" from something done on a much more involved modern DAW - tremendous work
This is amazing! And somehow, at 1:32 I can hear a piece of the Dracula Encounter theme from SCV IV in the interlude of the song. Listen closely, then listen to ''Dracula Battle'' from SCV IV.
Dude, you never cease to amaze me with how spot on these renditions is to the original, while still giving it the iconic genesis kick. I just hope at some point I can get a chance to play the ps2 Castlevania titles without resorting to emulation as a 2000's born adult
Really great rendition of a underrated classic , Love lament of innocence Gecko , This sounds freaking fantastic fella , Well freaking done , These delicious Yamaha tunes are epic , 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Truly magnificent remix you've created here! Very well done on choosing and arranging various instruments for this remix of yours! It genuinely sounds like the kind of music you'd hear in a Sega Genesis game! If Castlevania: Lament of Innocence was made for the Sega Genesis like how Castlevania: Bloodlines was, I bet it would sound as magnificent as this!
Oh but if you could have been programming this stuff in the Genesis' hay day! All the well. I'm glad we're getting these fine chiptunes today. Pure aural magic.
It took me years to realize this about the original, but the part starting at 1:33 is a callback to Dracula's theme from Super Castlevania IV. Very unexpected and cool, especially since Yamane rarely mixed motifs from prior Castlevania tunes into her own tracks.
Castlevania IV was my first Castlevania, I can totally hear it! Love that soundtrack, very nuanced and kind of jazzy... They really went all out on the new expressiveness on the SNES. Very moody!
@@240pgames4 that's not what I meant, the ym2612 is capable of producing stereo sound. What you're seeing on screen are not 12 channels, it's just 6 but you're seeing it separately to make it more interesting to watch.
Would this ever be possible technically I wonder? . Can these tracks be run on a real Mega Drive and if so, would you ever think of releasing an album on cart form or at least as a rom for Everdrive use?
Not exactly the same. This track comes from a shoot'em up but might have something that could please you. ruclips.net/video/z5WNEYRgwUg/видео.html I'll try to find more accurate examples.
The Piano sounds great. It is something very difficult to achieve with FM chips. Besides, it is one of the most difficult sounds to replicate on the Sega Genesis / Megadrive, apart from the guitars.
Lament of Innocence: Lament of Innocence - Lament of Innocence (Lament of Innocence)
Also, HOLY HELL this is amazing.
Revolver Ocelot (Revolver Ocelot)
I wanna know what would happen if Savaged Regime released Chrono Trigger's soundtrack remixed in the genesis sound chips.

The best YM2612 artist on the planet is back at it again
This is a great cover and very at home on the YM2612 given this song borrows melody and arpeggio from the Castlevania Bloodlines tune "Calling from Heaven".
Dude, I was about to say that. I'm surprised I haven't seen an attempt at a mashup/remix of the two considering how composed both tracks
god this is sick, great thumbnail too lmao
Excellent choice! Lament of Innocence probably has the best Michiru Yamane soundtrack post-SOTN.
I would say it's Curse of Darkness IMO.
They are all great. I really like her collaboration with Yuzu Koshiro on Portrait of Ruin

Savaged Regime makes the Genesis sound chip sound so amazing. This quality is far above anything that was officially released.
Very underrated game. I would totally play a demake of this game with a soundtrack that'd sound like this.
Oh wow, the part at 1:13 is INCREDIBLE. Great arrangement, so spooky and cool!
From this point on, the Belmont Clan will hunt the Night!
This is amazing! And somehow, at 1:32 I can hear a piece of the Dracula Encounter theme from SCV IV in the interlude of the song. Listen closely, then listen to ''Dracula Battle'' from SCV IV.
I noticed it too! It's one of my favourite tracks from Super Castlevania IV!

The tones hit all perfectly. This has to be one of the best covers
Owen Belmont, the unsung hero of his clan. Also, a tune that inspired generations of vampire hunters. Good job!
That relentless beat is so comfy I love it.

What a nice 4th of July present! Great cover as always!
could actually fit Bloodlines, awesome
I have wanted this for so long.
Thank you.
If I ever make a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game I know who I should get to do the music.
Check out Xenocrisis ;)
😮
I can’t get over how excellent this series’ music is and your take on it!
Keep going!

This goes crazy.
As alway amazing work!
Good to see you back!
I was having a pretty crappy day, so thanks for posting this when you did, and thanks for putting the brilliant work in yet again!
@2:42 holy moly are u kidding me...
That's some mighty fine FM ya got there! Wonderful composition and instrumentation.
this is why i love the Genesis and your work
Always a happy day when I see you upload.
Savaged Regime or should we say YM2612 godmaster. This tune rendition is epic. Period..
This is a beautiful version, very pleasant to listen
Bro, I was just jammin' out to your C&C remixes, and then you drop this! Awesome work, dude!
Excellent rendition, very Nice sound.
Great job as always !
Mindblowing. In fact, my mind just blew.

I remember noticing that when first playing the final stage and getting chills. Makes sense too, since Loi is Dracula's origin game.
Whoa! Dude! Thanks for mentioning that. I knew it sounded familiar!
It's not... thats a big stretch
Great to have you back! :).
absolutely incredible
wow
1:34 Super Castlevania Dracula theme motif.
Excellent as always, nice to have you back!
You know. The version they included in smash ultimate i absolutely dislike so much. This sounds absolutely perfect though. Amazing job
Awesome!
In some moments it has Capcom's Marvel CPS2 series vibe, but I don't recall the game. Marvel Super Heroes?
Oh yes
I'm not saying we should get a fucking Dance Dance Revolution: Castlevania Mix, but I'm TOTALLY SAYING THAT.
WAKE UP BABES NEW SAVAGEDREGIME GENESIS COVER
Shiiiit duuuude, this is dope!
Man, this is sick. You should make an extended version of this, it would be awesome!
Well, the day is better now.

Can you release the VGM for download on Patreon? Thanks.

All Savaged Regime's YM2612 covers work on real hardware.
Never played this one, great song though!
The whole soundtrack is good. Yamane's best.
Definitely give it a shot! One of the best Castlevanias! And the soundtrack is stellar!
Great original tune, and great cover!
thank you for this
Gorgeous, i am in love. Where could i find more of this type of music (not necessarily YM2612)?
If you're looking for more of this, I'd suggest the soundtrack of any Castlevania game post and including symphony of the night.

please do a rearrangment of special stage from Sonic 2, that would be really cool
What is this accursed thumbnail??!
It really sounds like this belongs on the Genesis! (Like it originated there!)
