They are used for eggs for 12 to 14 months because they are so exhausted and do not lay many eggs and go to a slaughterhouse. No, you can no longer eat this meat. I am not a vegetarian, but we cannot treat animals like this. The only thing I want is to ask attention for this because many people don't know this. Know that those eggs are not as healthy as we think. The chickens all receive means (poison) to lay the "perfect" egg. For the Dutch people: You can save these chickens! Unheard of cruelty & the people that run these kinds of business get to do it day in & day out suffering no consequence for the cruelty they dish out! Their cruelty is as bad as the dog farms in Vietnam! Every bit as bad!!!! Have you seen the conditions the dogs live in in Vietnam & the look on the poor dogs faces that are on the farms? The older I get, the more I close myself off from the cruelty of some people of the world...there is nothing I can do but pray for them (which is a lot). Pigs, beef cows,milk cows, baby calves, baby pigs, sheep, goats...are treated inhumane, & cruel!!!!!!

Yeah, they grow back in no time. One of My girls was roughed up by the rooster and the other hens. They grew back. Before I put him back with the hens, I'm buying or making hen aprons. It's a device you put on the hens that protects their backs in the event the roo breeds a little too much.

This is why if you're lucky enough to live near any farmers markets or have any free range egg producers nearby it's pretty good to get to know the sellers better so that you can be certain your eggs come from ethical hen keepers.
There are so many animals abused and/or neglected. Two out-of four of my dachshunds where rescues. A dear friend of mine just passed away. She loved chickens. She had several breeds, and could tell you all about each breed and the use of their eggs. I will visit the link that you posted. Thank you so much for your beautiful example of compassion. Friends of mine started a great company in the Netherlands. ‘Wijkamp Farming solutions’. They constructed a mobile chickencoop for up to 249 chickens. Those chickens can roam free and it is the most nature friendly way for production. The eggs are sold in Biological supermarkets and are called geluksvogel (lucky bird). People should treat animals better, even if they only live to be consumed.

When we find our retirement property I would like to rescue some chickens such as these. Breaks my heart. I hope I can find a rescue organization on the Oregon Coast where we are planning to go from California. I really wanted a chicken coop anyway, so whats a few more? When we find our retirement property I would like to rescue some chickens such as these. Breaks my heart. I hope I can find a rescue organization on the Oregon Coast where we are planning to go from California. I really wanted a chicken coop anyway, so whats a few more? Thank you sharing! 💜 I am not a vegetarian either but i do think that animals raised for consumption can be treated with dignity, compassion and have a happy life doing what comes naturally to them. 👍
The only way this is feasible is to reduce meat consumption
