8 wins without any losses in 1991 got this Canadian Bred an Eclipse award as champion 3 y/old filly. I’ll never forget this win. Made Canadian racing fans very, very proud

Phenomenal horse. Not saying she would have won, but it would have been interesting if they'd entered her in the Breeder's Cup Classic instead of the Distaff.

Agree, phenomenal Danzig filly. The following season she was off in form totally, and in hindsight Sam Son Farm probably made the right choice in giving Canadian racing fans a win in a Breeders Cup race, her own female division, but you’re right, it would have been very interesting to see if she was beatable at that particular time at all because it sure didn’t look like she was.

No horse could beat Ruffian. She had the lead in every race, setting records in almost every race she ran. No horse ever got in front of her. She is the Queen of the Race Track and always will be. Dance Smartly wouldnt have a chance against Ruffian, Go For Wand, or Zenyatta!

I urge whoever controls this comment section to delete this remark. It has absolutely no association with Dance Smartly or any of the horses she raced against. It is essentially graffiti and the irrelevant tag is "Ruffian".

Your comment is absurd, even 5 years on. She won 99% of her races in a hand ride, and only felt a tap from day in this race to keep her focused. No doubt she would be able to run and beat Go For Wand and Zenyatta.

Idiot! they are all great horses in their generation.

Want to give credit to Ruffian but she needed to stay on her feet and defeat Foolish Pleasure (and defeat him) convincingly to walk around with this imaginary “all time greatest title”. If you take away this defeat in all her wins she didn’t beat much. Personal Ensign, Zenyatta, some say Rachel Alexandra. It’s impossible to say what would unfold unless they all raced each other at their peak.
