First fishing trip of 2025, can we catch???

we go to the etang sarcelles near St Lo in Normandy for our first trip of 2025. Monty the dog joins us. Can we catch a fish at the end of January,

Glad you caught your first fish and monty got out. Our club lakes have been dredged of excessive weed and been unfishable then very cold and wet.maychance it soon though. Have great new fishing year

You found a dry clear day in Normandy? Nothing but wind, grey skies and/or rain on my side of Normandy the entire month. Haven't even been remotely tempted to go out fishing

Well we were lucky to get out yesterday, like you had been looking at the weather all month, but no chance of getting out.

Wonder what killed the carp? Hope all the other species weren't affected ? Carp seem to be everywhere in the UK , Used to be good when you went to a carp water, but the invasive blighters get everywhere, affecting rivers and native fish waters all over .

Some sort of virus. A carp lake run by the calvados federation was hit about 18 months ago, and remains shut. No idea if other fish have died
