    Thank you for the informative video!
    3:38 One thing was constantly bothering me was your comparison between NRI vs Indian citizens. NRIs are also Indian Citizens, they are non-resident citizens of India. In my opinion this comparison should be between NRIs Vs Resident Indians

    • @aditisen9722
      @aditisen9722 9 месяцев назад

      What you say is true. But NRIs also include OCI or PIO holders. People who had to give up Indian citizenship because they hold a different citizenship or their kids who were born outside of India and are not Indian citizen. I think PIO are defunct now.

    Hi ankur , great video . But you forgot to mention about KYC. That’s most important in order to get dmat account. If a NRI is not in india then it can be little tough. He might need to go to local Indian embassy to get documents attested .

    Dear Friend, Check your facts. PINS or Portfolio Investment (NRI) Scheme is another name for the Portfolio Investment Scheme (PIS) Account. This particular PINS Account for NRI enables them to buy and sell shares and convertible debentures of an Indian firm on a recognized stock exchange. For both NRE and NRO accounts, you can have PINS and NON-PINS accounts.

    An NRI now, I had a demat account from which I am getting dividends. Please advise;
    1. How can I get my demat account converted to NRO demat account. What is the process.
    2. I am filing ITR in India but as understood Tax for NRIs is more. How to inform dividend giving company that I am an NRI so that proper Tax is deducted.
    3. What is DTAA, it's advantages and shoukd I take advantage or pay tax in India as per Indian IT Laws. Please explain.
    If you have made video on this topic, please tell be it's name so that I can watch.

    1. Is it possible for NRI's to invest in SIPs after opening a Zerodha account?
    2. Is there a process for transferring my existing SIP account from PaytmMoney to Zerodha? If so, could you please provide me with the necessary documentation or links?
    Thank you very much, and I look forward to receiving your response and guidance.

    One important caveat . NRIs from US/Canada are not eligible to invest via coin. You should point that out in a subsequent video. I just went through the account opening process, to find that I can’t buy MFs via coin.

    In this video (around 5'4") you said "NRI can't do trading and only buy shares for delivery". But I think with non-PIS account we can do.
    It would be great if you do one more video on NRI intraday/F&O trading and most importantly on the taxation 'please' :D

    That tax deduction on NRO account interests can be upto 30%. On NRE PIS accounts, there are some bank charges involved on for each purchase and sell, and zerodha charges you 200 per purchase compared to 100. Thats what I could gather till now. Can you please suggest if NRE PIS accounts are relatively better. I am a newbie and dont have much idea. Learning the curve slowly. Opening PIS account costs Rs1000 and then annual fee of Rs 1000 to maintain it. I believe if one is playing a big game in terms of money invested NRE sounds good to me whereas 30% tax deduction on NRO interests seems reasonable initially to learn the game of investing.
    Looking forward for your opinion!

      Most Reserve Banks around the world in foreign countries are connecting with Reserve Bank of India and are now reporting the interest earned as your income to the Tax Office of the country you are living in and tax office in the country you are living in flags that you have got some foreign income in India. Just a note for NRI planning to work in Inida, if you work with any mulinational banks in India, they only acceot accounts with HDFC, ICICI, Kotak securties. Any other demat account for personal dealing is not acceptable. Any non designated brokers, they will ask you to close within 45 days. If you dont disclose to them and they find out, you can be fired.

    Hello Sir,
    I moved to the USA last year (2023 Feb) and before moving to the US, I was investing in Mutual funds and Stocks. I am still doing all my investment in Indian Mutual funds. Even after moving to US, I have started investing in 3 more mutual funds (i.e. HDFC, ICICI and Motilal Oswal).
    I have a plan to move back to India in a few years. What I should do with all my investments.
    Currently I am transferring my money to my savings accounts to India through Remitly and investing it from that account. What should I do to avoid all implications in future?

    If I already had a demat account and direct-MFs in which I was investing before becoming a NRI. What happens to those holdings/MFs once I create a PIS/non-PIS account?

    Sir, I have opened a Fyers NRE PIS account, and it is linked to my HDFC NRE account, we are not allowed to transfer money to or from the brokerage account, whatever my balance is, it is supposed to reflect in my brokerage account, and that rarely happens after a lot of follow ups. Because of this investing is becoming very tough.
    Do you have any suggestions?

    While I am thankful to the presenter and the channel for making this video.
    But at the same time, I like to warn every NRIs about current dubious Indian government and policies. Repatriation of money from India to any foreign country was always costly and complicated, and now the bank related RED tape is all time high.
    Before 2016, every NRI, I know would keep 10k-50k Indian rupees at home throughout the world, to use it during the next India trip. But after 2016 and 2023 (2k) demonetization, no NRI keeping any Indian rupees and now most of the foreign bank do not exchange Indian rupees.
    When its comes to withdrawing money from Indian bank (specially government bank), forget about NRI, even Indian citizens had hard time. My parents and every senior member of my family were harassed every 3-6 months with frozen accounts, just because they are not online users. Before 2016 without court approval no bank could freeze any account. But now it's legal for banks to freeze any bank account including senior citizens without any court order. Death of democracy.
    Final nail in coffin, most of the banks in India are government banks. and they will never provide paperwork on time. So in case of conflict there will be court case as "you vs government of India, where no citizens (Indian or NRI) ever going to get justice.
