Prior to 1948, the area of the world we are talking about here was divided into two camps, according to the Bible: the kingdom of Judah in the south, and the kingdom of Israel to the north. The prophet lay on one side for Judah then lay on the other side for Israel. Point is Judah (Jerusalem area) and Israel have always been two different nations, although both founded on the 12 tribes of Israel. In fact, Judah made war with Israel. So why did Judah, the Jews, take the name "Israel" for their new nation, rather than the historical name of "Judea", or land of the Jews, the tribe of Judah? Now people read the Bible and when they see the word "Israel" they are tricked into thinking it refers to 1948 nation of that name, when in fact, Israel is all 12 tribes, many of them said to be "lost" (that is, we do not know where they are). I am glad to see the Lord is restoring the Jews to their former places but back then, it was called Judea. Why Israel now?
