In this video I retell the New L’manburg Festival, Doomsday War and Disc Saga Finale. In this series I cover everything from the Disc Saga and L'manburg Revolution, to the Election Arc, Tommy’s Exile and the stories and development of many of the players!! I love this series, it's so intense, and you do a fantastic job as a narrator. I hope these folks are still friends after all these intense situations! I know there's a general script for the larger story, and they do this as their job, but one has to wonder if anyone has lost a friendship IRL because of the real tensions that rise. I think these guys would love LARP too!

this line is a good line but it always struck me as just dismissive and unfitting for the situation
like, if you think about it for more than 3 seconds, the _entire_ reason why tommy left techno in the first place was BECAUSE he prioritized people over the discs. with techno, he was working to get his discs back, and in the process he started becoming more cruel. and at the ruins of the community house, tommy saw who he'd become - someone who tortured fundy to tears, someone who was planning to completely destroy his home, someone who had _hurt tubbo_ - and he realized he didn't want to be that person. so, tommy left techno (the person who promised to help him get the discs) and instead rejoined his friends (the people he wanted to protect). he chose people over the discs.
and yes, it meant hurting techno in the process, but techno's partnership was never going to work out and it was leading tommy down a much darker path than he wanted. the people he chose were his _friends._ the ones that techno wanted to hurt. (and tommy TRIED to stay friends with techno! he tried to reason with him! and ever since doomsday, tommy has tried to rekindle his friendship with techno multiple times. tommy really wanted to be friends with everyone here, but unfortunately, that wasn't how it happened.)
back to the quote. out of context, this line seems like techno is calling out tommy for being selfish... but tommy's line DIRECTLY after the "i'm a person" quote is "you are, techno, _but so are we."_ tommy never said techno wasn't a person. he just could not work with techno and help him, if it meant hurting his friends.
to justify his actions, techno says "i'm a person". but techno destroying l'manberg is directly causing incredible harm to everyone in the country. were they not people as well? surely, if techno's feelings matter, then wouldn't the hurt of l'manberg citizens matter just as much? why is it okay for techno to destroy the home of so many people, a historical site on the server, records of history, the last remnant of wilbur, even _pets_ that were still inside the houses - and yet it's not okay for tommy to leave techno behind once he sees that things aren't working out for either of them?
