To everyone who asked: this song was on the first Voxtrot studio demos we ever recorded back in 2002! It was part of a batch of 6 songs that we gave out on CDR's around that time, but never got a proper release. I think we quickly decided the influences in that era of the band were too obvious! Jason (the bass player)
Thanks for providing some background to what is probably the most beautiful song I've ever heard. Is there any chance those other songs on the CDR could also be released? I know it would make us fans super happy to hear them!
My brother asked me what it was like to love a defunct band for so many years … one hour after the tour was announced. we’re both adults not and not just me, but the way he started screaming … it was just like me haha
I love Voxtrot to death, but this is clearly taking heeeeeeeavy influence from Belle & Sebastian's The Rollercoaster Ride as far as instrumentation and vocal cadence at times. Even down to the piano line that comes in. Not a bad thing though, I think Voxtrot's influence by Belle & Sebastian comes out in a lot of their work in the best ways possible.
Having listened to both, yeah it does sound a lot like "the roller coaster ride" and Ramesh also seems to be doing a kind of B&S style vocal inflection, but I dunno, I don't like Rollercoaster Ride too much in comparison and I ended up loving Arab Strap after listening to it in its entirety. Something about Ramesh's lyrics has always been more specific and vivid while remaining relatable and Rollercoaster is a bit too dreamy and nebulous to really resonate with me like this song does. Also sorry to wake you up on a comment that's four years old.
fuckin love the rollercoaster ride. used to love this song so much too, just haven’t heard it in years. heard it just now after a recent deep dive back into b&s, heard the rollercoaster ride immediately
Verse: E and A (bar the high e string) when on the A chord add pinky to 4th fret of e string, it's just that over and over Chorus: E, A, E, B Hope that helps
Aaron Araujo the A is played like a normal open A chord, just add the F# note on the high e string (2nd fret) so you end up barring the d, g, b, and e string on the second fret...make sense? I can throw up a quick video and send it to you if you want

This is beautiful. Where'd you find this?
I have this album but not this song... where did you get it?
That's what I was thinking,
Yeah can someone help with chords? I think it's something simple like G C D or something, but yeah i'd like some help
Verse: E and A (bar the high e string) when on the A chord add pinky to 4th fret of e string, it's just that over and over
Chorus: E, A, E, B
Hope that helps
Woah thanks dude!
Chris Homerding np, the rhythm isn't hard, let me know if you have any issues getting it
Nick Guarriello stupid question but what do you mean by barre the high e string?
Aaron Araujo the A is played like a normal open A chord, just add the F# note on the high e string (2nd fret) so you end up barring the d, g, b, and e string on the second fret...make sense? I can throw up a quick video and send it to you if you want
message me and ill send you the lyrics...too long to post on comments
