I'd probably get people throwing stones at me here, but I think this is totally not ok normalizing such prices this way. This is not an apartment, this is a box. Nearly a mil in price is way too much for a studio, no matter how it is done and the location. Purely my opinion. Video itself is great btw.
I think most people would agree with you but since this is just pure entertainment maybe nobody cares really? they just want to see what's available out there. I personally wouldn't pay for such a thing, would rather rent
@@therealist2000 my point is - the way it is being described is almost sort of “romantic”, tricking you into thinking - well, that is normal and worth the price it is being sold for. This is not only goes about the luxury apartments reviewed here on this channel, but also, almost like a chain, leads to other properties for us, “mere mortals”, where the rent is sky high, the description uses the words such as “spacious, fantastic, highly sought after etc” and in reality it’s a half-destroyed one bedroom flat that people will have to rent out of desperation and fear to be on the street, because there’s nothing cheaper or better anyway. This has been a problem here in UK for years now. Probably this isn’t the right youtube channel to discuss this, but just wanted to share my opinion.
@@olegloshakovski7601 Completely agree with you, Oleg. Whilst I view these videos purely for their entertainment value, (and the hosts ARE pleasant people), overall we're being fed an unrealistic, unachievable lifestyle. Just looking at this 'studio', a bedsit by any other description, and yes it IS rather well done, the kitchenette is quite clever in design, it is not worth close to £1 million! Developers, with the full agreement of the council, have swept in and ripped out the heart of KC, gentrified it out of all recognition and largely ignored the needs of 'ordinary' local residents! Someone with deep pockets is going to purchase this studio and rent it out for an exhorbitant monthly fee! We can look forward to the next video when we'll get to see what £7 million will get us in the same development!
There is a reason behind such price, same obvious reason under every other price tag - supply and demand. Apartments like this have their own clients, it is not an average Joe. If the price is like that, it means there is demand for such a price, else it would be lower. If you don't like it, it means someone else will.
But this is not just any studio, this is a Gasworks studio! to borrow a pun from M&S!🤣 Look, this is a stone's throw away from St Pancras international stn and is superbly finished with excellent facilities. This would make an excellent base for a successful Continental businessman or woman from Europe who can stay here instead of an anonymous 5* hotel somewhere; don't underestimate the importance of home comforts after a hard day of business wheeling and dealing, plus the area has a plethora of excellent restaurants, shops and bars. Lastly, it's a sound investment as this studio will probably be worth over £1 million in a couple of years time!
Nearly 800k and kitchen next to bed, you’re having a laugh? London is a joke
Yeah seriously messed up
they are slowly starting to do this in manchester as well now
New york is way worse if you think london is a joke
We looked at buying in Lisbon for the past few years, thought covid would help us out, wow we were wrong, Lisbon has been decimated by foreign investment, we ended up buying in London instead thats how crazy most of Europes major cities have got!
@@indomiepanggang4258 But London has twice the space of New York.
That shows everything that is wrong in the London market. Honestly it’s a sky kennel.
I really don’t get who is buying these places 😬
Russians, Asians just a vault to hold money outside of their own countries.
Insane, you have to be out of your mind to buy a studio like this for that price.
Agreed
I agree yoni, the state of London real estate is very worrying. Of course there's a significant location piece here, but if I am ever in a position to buy for £700k, I'd expect so much more for my money.
@@benj199cm totally agree 700,00K or even less should be enough for a home not a studio regardless of the location
with all my respect, this is not an apartment this is how jails look like in Norway 🤣
😂🤣😂
More evidence prices in London are insanely out of control, at this point developers are just taking the piss
Its all part of the get rid of the poor people in London programme... 40 years you wont be able to step foot in London if you're not in a certain tax bracket. 😫
This video annoyed me for whatever reason. Don’t show us a box and say there is a great space in there. Say it how it is- it is tiny.
That is already 2nd site I worked on you are showing. Gasholders and Newfoundland Tower. Interesting fact - Carrillion was the main contractor for this one, now extinct, they went bankrupt during the time this was under construction.
Great bit of architecture here very cool! That said not so sure on the room size vs cost, more like a hotel room than somewhere to live
Welcome to London, you pay for the postcode/zone not the house
@@rachaelray4693 i’ll stick up north and leave London for the occasional touristy short breaks. You could buy a dream house in a nice area for that kind of money here
That price is waaaaaaaaaaay to high.
Dear Summer and Matt,
With this kind of money, I'd rather buy 12 houses like you guys did, outside of London.
Keep making these great videos! I love them!! 🍻
795000 for this. No way does this justify the price.
Would love to know the yearly service charges
You need to be crazy just to pay this amount on a studio.
Love the fact that the old gasometers have been saved. However the studio is so overpriced and out of reach of 99% of the population. It's really all just a fantasy, but fun. Matt as usual is so pleasant and professional.
When people say out of reach for 99% of the population they mean it's out of their reach
Is just a expensive a hotel room.
Mate you can get 6 bed detached homes outside of London for this price lol. London low-key robbing people
High key**
With 800k for a studio London is not so much robbing people as low key murdering people Jack the Ripper style.
It's a bedsit. Leasehold property with a 'low' service charge that will skyrocket once all units are sold. Then, developer sells freehold having gained planning permission to build two more floors on top of existing penthouses using new permitted development rights. Avoid leasehold and buy a freehold property which you'll actually own.
Really can't get my head around London prices. Must be bigger prison cells..
Come down to Poole!
Wow - ignoring all the extra amenities - up North that studio apartment would have been called a bedsit 🤣🤣
While that is well designed that full "apartment" is the size of my bedroom ensuite. So 800k for a bedroom is pornographic, even if it is in London.
Oven is very small for these prices. And the "murphy bed" is a bragging point? Wow!
150k - 200k max. Those seats at cinema so close to the screen and swimming pool is tiny. Only enough room for one person
You guys are at the top of the game
Thank you 😁
Wow, almost 1million for this 😂. Very disappointing. So basically your paying for location , views & amenities. The room reminded me of my university accommodation.
Nice to have Summer back!
Was about to complain about the price but if there are just a few left for sale - obviously they're priced "right". It's amazing how that whole area - the coal yards and the gas holders - has been transformed. Was derelict just 12/13 years ago when the nearby Kings Place had just opened to mark the start of regeneration after St Pancras and Kings Cross atations being effectively rebuilt..
Nice facilities, but the service charge must be eye watering.
You have to pay a building service charge and an annual fixed contribution. In addition, if eligible you have to pay for your parking and storage.
I do not know about the target audience of this channel. Looking at all the past video, the collection was diverse, but more skewed towards the upper high end segments. More choices on the other end will be appreciated. Great works though!
I was there a couple of weeks ago, its in a really nice location. Development has really helped the Kings cross area
Lovely video but the price is ridiculous. It's almost £1million for my bed and my kitchen to be in the same room LOL.
This is how I imagine jails will be in 2035… I understand the London prices as I lived in central for many years but this kind of prices for a box room it’s not acceptable. You can get a better property in the outskirts with great commuting links to London.
Ridiculous price over three quarter of a million for a box room?
You couldn't cook a goldfish in that oven
Lol
the architecture is very unique 😻
For sure! Awesome to see something built so long ago has been modernised ✨
How much is the service charges and ground rent???
probably 3k a month
Wow nice tour
That's one nice and expensive bedsit😂😂
Ideal pied a Terre for whizz kid , gym bunny and remote working. Have been past these on the train and wondered what they were like, usual London prices though.
Love it. The price is correct for the location. Soo central.
This sort of patio style condo is basically chaotic with noise issues as the noise sound echoes all over the building...
How to put a smile on Matt's face. Show him the media room, gym and pool. Extra big smile, the sauna.
Wow!! Lovely spacious studio apartment love the view and u guys r brilliant love ur step by step explanation
Define 'spacious', lol.
@@popazz1 for a studio apartment it's spacious n that's my opinion why do I have to explain to u 🙄
Damm, They removed the massive gas storage tanks and replaced it with a multi-million £ flats. LOL
Just a matter of time before this bubble pops. Inflation has kicked in, endless money printing, interest rates need to rise to balance but they are in a corner!!! Prepare
Love love love this apartment 😀
These videos are misleading, they don't talk about the excessive service charges levied by the Freeholders. You will be talking about £18K per annum in service charges.
Fabulous, another great use of old engineering works.
Prices in London are absolutely ridiculous, not worth it! Good video thou Matt & Summer. keep up with the good work.
What kind of budget would you need for central London for 2-3 bed apartment ?
ruclips.net/video/bVZFla7I7as/видео.html&ab_channel=Matt%26Summer "Inside a £4,750,000 London apartment in Southbank Tower, SE1."
This one isn't too far away and has 3 bedrooms...
an expensive apartment😎
its more like a hotel because of its ameneties which are really off its price
Thanks, really enjoyed , I’ve seen the development and it’s nice to see from the inside . Do they have a buying scheme , shares ownership, I can afford a 10% share lol. Thanks.
Great tour 👍
Thanks Conor 🙏🏼
For that price and the few square meters 🤔 I prefer to buy caravan.😀
Wow wonderful
Good video. To developers and city councils, stop preserving old industrial junk. That misplaced nostalgia saddles the future with the handicap of having that around for 50-100 years and the crippling design compromises that come with it. It's such a bad decision. Take bleeping pictures of it and then tear it away.
As for the apartment, it's fine enough, but the price really isn't. Gentrification is one thing but that is an insane amount of money for a small studio. It's not Kensington or Mayfair, it's an industrial area of less than stellar architecture. People of London are doing themselves a disservice by buying these.
Obviously London has a huge gentrification problem so there are two options to fix it, either make very high speed infrastructure so you can spread London out, probably a good idea in any case, and or build up. And free from all nonsense restrictions like preserving the gas tank structure in this case. Old buildings need to be changed to high rises with extreme prejudice and a good way is to make slender towers with parks at their base. that gives great light and views in all directions for everyone. Even the first floors. Vancouver's Yaletown has somewhat pioneered that and the view and light in those apartments are world's apart from solid city blocks facing each other with no views. I was surprised when I saw them how really pleasant they are. And the square footage can be the same. It's a crime to not do it right. 800k£ for that studio is a crime against London humanity. It's not a matter of wealth, it's just a massive burden on ten million people. Manhattan is similar. It becomes a prison of choice and it's not smart.
I think the infrastructure would only spread the trend of inaccessible high prices out to the rest of London.
I actually love that they reused the old gas structures rather than tearing them down. I always loved them before the development and worried they would be gone. However it’s totally ridiculous what they have done in terms of living space. A shoebox at that price. It would have been much more exciting to turn it into an art or performance venue.
@@karin9373 you mean something of no commercial value? who would pay for that loss. keeping the old junk saddles the projects with extra costs and makes the shoeboxes cost more. it's ugly and dumb. hence why I'm opposed to preserving old junk.
@@DanFrederiksen I know, sadly it’s all about money. Somebody with too much money will buy it as a city pad.
@@karin9373 hmm, maybe, maybe not. let's see how well they sell.
I wonder what the service charges are......?
That is not a pool its an extra large hot tub 😂 1 cinema room, 1 dining room. You would have to book 12 months in advance!
Good architecture, but for me it would be an investment property because for that price you could get a 2/3 bed just outside London for better living.
Yeah. Not feeling this apartment, and the price is hilarious. But hey, if you have more money than sense then its a steal.
Is the counter aluminium or stainless? Also nice Murphy beds can be made with shelving under bed so when you fold it up, it looks like a really wall. And how do you swim laps in that pool?
What are the service charges?
The service charge on that will be eye watering.
Just love it, perfect for a young couple or a wealthy single person.
Woow thanks
Murphy bed, this is what fold away beds are known as. Bedsits have certainly come a helluva long way since my student days, lol. I really DO try not to come across as an 'old grouch' when commenting on your videos, guys, because you ARE lovely people, and as you point out you're not agents, rather you're simply showing us 'mere mortals' what's out there, (usually at the luxurious end of the market), and what we'd never be able to purchase. The space itself has been well designed given the cubic footage, the kitchenette is rather smart. Also, the fact that there is an actual bath, not just a tiny shower, is a real bonus. The facilities are pretty damn WOW tbh. I guess if the owner target is a 'young blood' who basically needs somewhere to lay his/her head and has a whizz-bang-wallop salary then yeah, fair dos. And if the annual service charges aren't sky high then good luck to whoever buys the space. It's just such a shame that the ratio between private and social housing the developers must abide by still favours the private sector.
Exactly, people who moan about the price forget that there's a market for everything and they are not comparing like with like. Of course you can get a big 3 bed bungalow for that price in say Mitcham, but who wants to live in Mitcham? No, what they should be comparing is a similarly speced studio in Central London, say Knightsbridge. And the price? £1.85m! So this is actually quite good value!
@@eyeofthetiger6002 ... I'll take your word for it regarding Mitcham, lol. Well yeah, and it's not as if anyone's having a gun held to their head to buy it. My gripe about social versus private sector housing is probably better posted to a more appropriate page.
Nearly a million to sleep in your kitchen?! No thanks! Some nice design features, but absolutely not worth the price tag. Literally all your paying for is the location
London house very nice 🌹
That's great
Am I the only one that think the swimming pool is way too small? I should imagine the service charge is astronomical so whilst it’s aesthetically pleasing it’s size is disappointing. Unless it also has a jet stream function that allows you to swim on the spot it’s nothing more than a glorified hot tub.
All those industrial looking pillars are an eyesore, might be interesting to see on the odd occasion but most people don’t want to pay £800k to see it everyday.
House tour in Blackpool under a million please 😍
LOL these two could sell a TV to a blind man. 👏👏
It feels like The Guggenheim Museum. 😅
Nice
I have a kings cross monopoly card thing. Just need the other 3 to earn a prize
Mc Donalds have started monopoly prizes again?
Where do you fit a telly?
Honestly price not that part for zone 1 in london and with all those amenities
That’s an expensive bedsit. Great facilities though
So.... when do we get to have a tour of Matt and Summers house?
please show the garage
Hello mat i am from 🇮🇳india big fan both
Forgot to put up the floor plan lol
EXPENSIVE!!!!!!
So beautiful
I love you from Iraq 💞❤
The building would be great for a hotel, but not for living
this is hilarious...I bet they it says on the brochure "comes with entertainment room, gym, and swimming pool"...the reality is the entertainment room is a standard room with a pool table, the swimming pool might as well be a bath tub..and the novelty of everything listed plus the other "extras" (that would probably be a pain to hire out) would wear off after a few weeks..all for 7 mil.
Imagine when it needs a refurb? New kitchen or bathroom. If another apartment had a big leek or needed work, nightmare. Oh no thanks, I will stick to my 200k 4 bed detached house in the north of England.😁
I worked on this project and built and manage most of the work
How much would you pay to live there?
Tempting..except I would dread the monthly service charges 🤔
I love the finishes in the studio apartment. The golden aluminium kitchen counter is exquisite.
Bro you can have a golden countertop in ANY house lol
What happened to the penthouse video?
it smells when cook and after cook
In fairness, these developments usually install excellent air filtration systems as standard nowadays so the issue of 'offensive' odours is eliminated.
Miss to see luxury houses☹️
Its just insane to me people are happy to pay this price to live in London 🙈
Is it safe?
wowww 800k for that? no way
That location, that size with that price. LMAO
King's X is now a highly desirable area in case you don't know. There's going to be a massive Google European HQ under construction at the moment in the area soon, it's going to be spectacular, plus tons of new swanky restaurants, shops and bars.
This has to be the single worst property ever shown on channel. £750K for an en-suite with a kitchen in it is beyond a joke. There isn’t even enough room to put a TV. Matt and Summer should be ashamed of themselves for giving this absolute and utter ripoff any kind of airtime.
It's only a ripoff if you buy it, don't shoot the messenger
Lol it’s essentially a hotel room or a hotel apartment, not something for long term living
1 million dollars for a studio? hell no
