Growing up, I always imagined having a very ornate wedding, but now I have no desire for that. The whole wedding industry pushes people to believe that they need to save $30k+ to have a wedding that’s worthy. I would much rather spend that money on a “better” ring (which would last my whole lifetime and beyond) or a down payment on a home. Don’t start the beginning of your lives together having spent that much on just day one.
Midwesterner here. In my family, weddings are focused on the love, not the spectacle. They tend to run $300-$1000. My sister was married in a gazebo in a public park. Second hand dress from a family friend's antique store. Reception at mom and dad's. Other family members had receptions at church community halls, or VFW or Knights of Columbus halls. Weddings in church or in parks. All beautiful weddings. We could afford more. But the money goes into house and preparing for married life.
as someone who works in the used clothing industry, i implore people, stop buying from these fast fashion brands. quality is horrible, and the items end up taking up a lot of space in the landfills of the third world. There are exceptions of course, zip up hoodies from h&m or maybe some underwear, but for the most part, its just junk. like using Tupperware vs plastic baggies.
As a dj , I’d say the reason a wedding is so expensive is because the stakes for executing are higher and tolerance for mistakes / mishaps are lower. , and generally the people organizing the wedding are under resourced / experienced (understandably) . I can dj a house party , club , corporate party , and you’d get me doing what I’ve done and people like me doing for a number of years . But if it’s a wedding there’s automatically 89 different things that get added on, that typically have to happen during a wedding that aren’t part of normal celebrations / gatherings . I’d say if you want to save money, at least for a dj, on your wedding . Don’t say it’s a wedding , don’t make the dj do announcements, tell tables to go to the buffet , or adhere to any type of schedule other than play music from x time to x time . No requests , no clean versions because little timmys mom is Christian and doesn’t like drake album cuts , no mother son dance , no cake cutting songs , no entrance music and dance routine , no cocktail hour music in the garden and dinner in the barn 89 yards apart … all that is a lot of logistics that add to the price . And if something doesn’t come up as expected don’t say oh my wedding is ruined because you don’t have wireless lavalier mics and now the microphone is gonna be in our wedding photos . Tbh I wish weddings weren’t so expensive to run , but most of it are couples needs / couples parents demands / expectations of a patriarchal conspiracy to keep the proletariat under foot . (Jk on the last one)
My friends and acquaintances here in the Philippines spend upwards of Php 1.5 - 5 million pesos (approx 30-100k USD). They all rent a church and have their receptions at a 5 star hotel. Get the best photographers, coordinators, hosts etc. Sometimes the couple pays for the bespoke suits/gowns for groomsmens/maid of honors and even pay for hotel accommodations. It's pretty crazy here at least in my circle. US weddings seem cheaper to me haha
Bruh I don't even want to get married in the traditional sense. Marriage certificate+ bomb ass ring(assets that can easily be turn into liquid cash, I still think that rings should be worth something) + honeymoon= blis
Great Planning by the couple. Also fast fashion is really really bad because of how badly it sfucks up the environment like we already got microplastics in our bloodstream dog

The wedding was decent for $500. But yes SHEIN is bad, the clothes material is toxic, like radioactive
Holy shit 😭
What do you mean?
@@ModestMang there is so many news stories exposing some pleather goods from Shein as carcinogenic, and some clothing with toxic dyes.
Why do you need expensive wedding when most of the couple end up divorced 😂
My wedding was only $250 😂
Expensive wedding are mostly women ideas
I’m so happy I had a court wedding and my honeymoon in Hawaii. That day was meant for my husband and I not everyone else.
fucking love the table slap edits !!! 🤣🤣🤣

I want to get married
Oh yeah , and have your wedding in a night club so we don’t have to recreate a nightclub in a redwood forest
Ok girls who wants an expensive wedding let’s be honest let’s discuss….
I know I will not pay over $400 or $300 for a wedding dress that will only be worn once!

It’s sort of too late now. It’s been found in our drinking water, animals, babies, etc.

Karma, this aint cnn. This is light, social commentary. Real question is: why are you not shocked by a $500 dollar wedding?

@@mzkarma6751 well, it's something a lot of people in various cultures participate in. Don't knock it just because it has no place in your world.
