- 4 things you don't want when you go wild camping - spooky stuff happening, freezing cold, really windy and being disturbed by people. Welcome to Castell Dinas Brân!
I ended up bailing at about 12 because I could see the forecast getting worse, I knew I wasn't going to sleep and it was a short walk back to the car - my first failed camp. 😬 I know I'm a wuss 🤣

Not a Fail a First Attempt In Learning - Cross poles and earplugs and go again. I need a storming Norman pot; that was awesome 👌
They are mint but sadly the guy who made them passed away few years ago. I like that tho, there's no fails if you learn and get better or grow stronger 😁

Fab location, amongst the ruins. The lights flashing about are a bit creepy, probably a runner or maybe teenagers mucking about. Good choice to bail, crap weather isn’t much fun. 😊

I love old ruins and all the history, don't usually get heebie jeebies but that Castle is weird lol!

The thing I worry about most when I'm wild camping is other people. Nothing more scary than seeing other people late at night when you're on your own in the middle of nowhere. If in doubt, abort the mission! You can always try again another day.

I would definitely go back again might choose a less windy spot next time 🤣 apparently it's patrolled in the summer 😉

I've wanted to camp up there since first hearing of it, my channel name means 'Lord of the Crows' so it always seemed appropriate.
Shame you felt you had to leave, but if it doesn't feel right then it's always the correct decision.
It still made for an interesting and good video.

Nice place.... to be fair I would have bailed with just the jogger ghost without the wind!
That ghost jogger was weird, light bouncing around 1 minute, vanishes the next 🤷🏻♀️

As for the ghosts shiz, I tend to agree, I don't believe in any of that, and I firmly believe it's a time lapse... time can fold, and that's what I think you witnessed (a horse from the days of yor or something like that). Nice one 👍

I have seen a number of ghosts in the mountains and for me they were very 'real'. No shame in 'bailing out', I have slogged on for 5 hours to a hut up at 1400m and then get to within 30mins of it and decided to turn back and go down to a lower hut at 300m. The weather was on the turn, and I made the right call. Enjoyed the video. ATB Cheers from the mountains of NZ 😀😀
I was about to ask if it was dubs hut and warnscale, then noticed you're in NZ! I'm intrigued now why you decided to turn back?
@@Wild.cat.adventures If you 'RUclips' The Tararua range NZ and put in Kime hut, you will see how exposed that it is. I have been carrying a 25 kg pack and been picked up and thrown by the wind in that area. On the day that I turned back was when the cloud came down and wind was high, and you don't mess around on the tops. I still had to go up and over several high points to get to the hut, so I turned back into the safety of the bush (1200m) and went down to Field hut, which you will also see on the map or Google earth. I hope that cures your curiosity. If you have any more questions, don't be shy in asking Cheers Mike. PS have turned back many times, and one day I will tell you all about the "Ghosts of the NZ bush". 😀😀

I know how you felt, I did my first ever wild camp on Pike o Blisco, the wind was gusting at 50mph all night, I didn’t get a wink of sleep. I too forgot my ear plugs. I filmed the experience and posted on my channel. 😊

The right decision, I wouldn't be able to relax knowing others had seen me setting up to start with, let alone the other things. We can't win em all, at least you were out there enjoying life 👍

What a shame, but maybe you can return for a camp there when it's less blowy!
Also... sleeping in your car if you have had alcohol is a legally dodgy area if you are unlucky enough to get a tap on the window from the law, technically you are still in charge of the vehicle, it happened to me many years ago and I was given a speech and warned not to do it again. unlikely to happen, but worth knowing. All the best.
I'm aware but what else was I supposed to do, no cop in their right mind would charge me under those circumstances. Thanks tho 👍

Nice camping location & would be good for Haloween. The wind & ghost must have been scary but luckily Xena was there to keep you company.

A good walk up there. Did you go up past the school? Loads of good spots in this part of N Wales. If you haven't visited The Berwyn Mountains, then they're well worth an explore. Not far from LLangollen.
No I've not been yet but it's a beautiful part of the world for sure! So many great places in Wales ur lucky!

Oh.....and after Xena had dragged you all the way up the hill lol 😄. I got spooked by weather on top of Blencathra first time I had backpacked and wild camped, packed up and started off down and after half hour I realised that I had made a mistake and when I looked back up to the summit I got a brill photo of sunrise in middle of the saddle with two herdys looking at me quizzically 🥴 Happens to best of us and maybe better to be safe than sorry. That was 5yrs ago, went up last June and camped at Scales tarn thinking that it was sheltered, but the wind picked up and I ended up literally holding my tent up to stop it from collapsing on me 😱. It was a very wet and windy week but I managed to do Skiddaw, Scafell pike, Bowfell and the Langdale pikes.

Fortunately I haven’t experienced anything like that,though I always dread it if I’m honest! even though the chances are slim of being in any danger. As for ghosts,I always go by the famous quote- “It’s the living that will harm us,not the dead”.. something like that anyway😀

Ah got to go here, for years I have seen it when driving to my parents and this Xmas I drove up to it but the weather was so bad it would have blown the dogs off the top😬 as you know, but one day, at least you tried 👍

Yh it was a weird one lots of reasons added up to me bailing, the car being very close and worsening forecast were the main ones but I was just on edge I think 🤷🏻♀️
