Simple strap winder

- This is a very simple strap winder you can make yourself. Easy to use with a cordless drill. All you need is a 3/8" nail or bolt, a few inches of 1/2" EMT (Metallic conduit) and some electrical tape. I used the rubberized kind, but the typical vinyl electrical tape should work as well.

Bloody brilliant, amazes me how I can sit at home and learn something from someone on another continent! I'll be making one of these at my workshop in the morning.

It works like a charm! I keep a cordless drill with me to screw down blocking instead of using nails so one little attachment and I quickly wind up my straps. After they are wound up, twist the drill the opposite direction to loosen the strap and pull.
Man I have done everything I can imagine trying to get my straps wound up so I can turn and burn to the next load. This is Awesome thank you! stay safe out there
I saw where you posted a comment about the old guy, but it's only in my alerts, not on the video. Yeah, he couldn't throw the straps over the tank...didn't know why we twist them. No numbers...totally fly by night cardiac patient. No joke! And that tank was going to San Antonio...

I just watched your newest video today, felt compelled to comment, but didn't want haters to hit me up! Just to say, keep doing what your doing. Look at it this way though, haters are loyal watchers! They watch every moment of your videos to find something to criticize about. But I do have to say, I think this mans strap winder was easier to make, and less tweaking in then the one you made! On another subject, you and your old lady both look so much happier, and show a lot more energy with your new rig! Congrats!

You're welcome! It was the result of me hearing that strap winders existed, but I had never seen one. Now that I am moving up to a semi, I need to make me one for the 4" straps. I'll make one that mounts on the rub rail as the larger strap is probably a bit much for this one.
@@2020HotShotTruckingLLC Thanks Just made one out of a bit of aluminium bar cut a slit one end tapped a m6 bolt in the other
@@DJC995 Awesome! I usually stretch the straps out and roll them up pointing the drill downwards. To get the tool out, twist the strap in the opposite direction to loosen the first wrap.

@@2020HotShotTruckingLLC I am the same way! My Brother-in-Law gives me heck for all of my ideas, gadgets, and self fixes! But when he is in a pickle trying to save on an expensive fix, I’m the first one he calls!
@@TexasPToonFam Must be a Texan thing...I'm from Texas originally. Funny thing is, I heard about a strap winder and just made one...never even looked to see how anyone else did it. Sometimes just knowing something can be done is enough.

It comes in very handy, especially on those loads where you use a dozen straps. Nothing worse than untangling a huge pile of straps you jammed in your truck because you had to hurry back home!
