I think this is more about faith in humanity than choice. He believed in choice because he thought everyone is capable of making rational decision deep down but the moment jayce killed him and embessa destoyed his commune it changed. He saw people as selfish emotional individuals incapable of making the right choice but the irony is he came into this decision because he was emotional about what happened to him by a handful of bad people and their actions.
If you look at them in S1 Jayce became powerful, then had influence, then became corrupt Viktor isolated himself focused on his goal while keeping his morals
2 parallels : 1 - Jayce said « I’m a interrupting ». It saved them both, same context, different meaning but damn this is too much. I cry so, so much it genuinely hurts my entire stomach I had to take a break. I know Viktor wasn’t going to jump but he seriously considered it. We can see it in his face tho. Jayce was calming down and shuts his eyes as he approached the edge while Viktor starts breathing faster with eyes wide open. It also kind of captures how they both are as characters as Jayce body goes for it and Viktor is more hesitant. Which exemplifies the parallel between the two Idk the idea that they stopped each other from committing is so special to me it's the thing about their relationship I maybe cherish most. The casual question if they're interrupting, but eyes that are filled with care. Especially Jayce's, I love his eyes they're so expressive. The fact he repeats "Am I interupting" so perfectly, you know that line sat with Jayce through all those years to that moment :( I also wanted to point out Viktor's hand holding his cane is shaking so bad (although it was already shaking bc he struggled to get up) for the cane to be rattling that much, even at this point after going through so much he still wanted to live 2 - Viktor being against the whole 'the mutation must survive' because of the suffering it endured when he was a child. Then slowly BECOMING that mutation is absolutely terrifying. His split face just looked like a puppet using a dead body. To me, it’s wasnt Viktor at all but the Hexcore using Viktor’s apparence.
Victor in season 1, "You dont need tobask for permission to change the world." And thays exactly what he went on to do. Only thanks to Jbroyherhood and being there and the realizaion that the route he was taking wouldn't really change the world. As per his own words, the rush for perfection was never going to end. Hat was no way to change the world.
"You waste your life to gain power You shift the game rules How does it feel to reach the line that no one ever got to cross? Does it make you a god now?"
If that was true, he wouldn’t have bothered trying to heal people, and he wouldn’t have stopped at the end when he saw what the Glorious Evolution would finally do. The Hexcore influenced him to propagate itself, but he influenced it as well, to heal people of what he came to see as weaknesses. It played on his fears and loneliness and faults to complete its objective, but he made those choices, and in the end, he chose to die to save the world from himself.
I just noticed, Jaice didn't know what to do with the bomb because he's not familiar with chemtech, while Victor who's from Zaun has lived all his life around it, he knows how chemtech works.
"people deserve to choice their own fates", said the man who chose to ignore his friend's wishes "choice is false", said the man whose choice was taken
I can't bring myself to dislike the show, but I have to admit that despite its strengths, season two disappointed me quite a bit. I feel like its biggest strengths were its parallels to season one, and quite frankly I'm never going to get over the fact that they downright ditched the entire theme of class struggle and it leaves a gaping in hole not only in the world building, but in so many of the characters' developments, Viktor included. I think he deserves his own episode, like Ekko, because although the elements that led to him becoming the Machine Herald were there from the very start, his transition to quasi-supervillain was incredibly rushed. For somebody so instrumental to the plot and the core themes of the show, I feel like they couldn't afford to sideline him like they did.
i don’t know how any other show is ever going to live up to arcane. i’m just gonna have to go about my life with forever subpar media, huh? they set the bar too high :(
Not to mention characters from zaun and piltover were all parallels of each other. Heimerdinger/Jayce and Singed/Victor dynamic, heimerdinger also drew another parallel with Vander. They were both basically the founders of piltover and "the lanes". They both had 2 students/children who were main characters of the show, and they were both cast out in lieu of "progress". Silco wanted to fulfill their dream of the nation or zaun and Jayce wanted to use hextech for the people immediately because they both thought it would change lives for the better. There are many more but my comment would be really too long.
Because he had no choices his entire fucking life bro no choice in his body no choice in his illness no choice in being blown up no choice in being resurrected no choice in being KILLED AGAIN by his partner- even his finding himself a healer was barely a choice rather than the arcane guiding and influencing him. He also grew to believe in fate more than chance because of this so yeah it’s a killer character development so well done and makes sense.
No way people actually thought S2 was good... It's fine if you enjoyed the fanservice and flashy animation, but don't act like the writing is anything above a 2/10. And don't say "because Vi", because Caitlin would not spare Jinx Bin-Laden because her fn girlfriend likes her (which is also a contradiction - in S2E1 she literally sas "that's not my sister anymore", 4 episodes later "what are you waiting for? He's your dad too" (cringiest line in the entire show btw)). S1 9/10 S2 3/10 at best.
I think she understood that her need to punish Jinx was more a thing about her mother passing, and all of the bad decisions she had made, si forgive Jinx was her chance to let go and came back to be the good person she used to be and the person that was in love with Vi

EVERY EPSIODE is season 2 had me struggling to hold back tears
i guess this show deserves a rewatch from the beginning, eh?
I'm still not over the processing they did on Viktor's voice for the end of season 2. So perfectly spooky for the character.
Viktor seriously considered letting that bomb going off knowing that if he didn’t he’d be risking hextech turning into a weapon
If you look at them in S1
Jayce became powerful, then had influence, then became corrupt
Viktor isolated himself focused on his goal while keeping his morals
I love how viktor’s future self stopped all of this coming true because he was bored.
2 parallels :
1 - Jayce said « I’m a interrupting ». Which exemplifies the parallel between the two
Idk the idea that they stopped each other from committing is so special to me it's the thing about their relationship I maybe cherish most. The casual question if they're interrupting, but eyes that are filled with care. Especially Jayce's, I love his eyes they're so expressive. The fact he repeats "Am I interupting" so perfectly, you know that line sat with Jayce through all those years to that moment :( I also wanted to point out Viktor's hand holding his cane is shaking so bad (although it was already shaking bc he struggled to get up) for the cane to be rattling that much, even at this point after going through so much he still wanted to live
2 - Viktor being against the whole 'the mutation must survive' because of the suffering it endured when he was a child. Then slowly BECOMING that mutation is absolutely terrifying. His split face just looked like a puppet using a dead body. To me, it’s wasnt Viktor at all but the Hexcore using Viktor’s apparence.
I still think Viktor's utopia was neat
Victor in season 1, "You dont need tobask for permission to change the world." And thays exactly what he went on to do. Only thanks to Jbroyherhood and being there and the realizaion that the route he was taking wouldn't really change the world. As per his own words, the rush for perfection was never going to end. Hat was no way to change the world.
“Choice Is Faults”
false?
That's why Singed got the happy ending, because he never strayed from his main goal.
I really like the parallel writing in Arcane
Jinx starts as Powder then turns to Jinx
Isha starts as Jinx then turned powder.
"You waste your life to gain power
You shift the game rules
How does it feel to reach the line that no one ever got to cross?
Does it make you a god now?"
"There is always a choice"
"......JK"
Viktor died. The Machine Herald took his body and formed it to his newfound perfection.
Viktor died in that council room. Whatever came out of the Arcane wasn't him anymore
That's what happens when you deny the laws of nature
If that was true, he wouldn’t have bothered trying to heal people, and he wouldn’t have stopped at the end when he saw what the Glorious Evolution would finally do. The Hexcore influenced him to propagate itself, but he influenced it as well, to heal people of what he came to see as weaknesses. It played on his fears and loneliness and faults to complete its objective, but he made those choices, and in the end, he chose to die to save the world from himself.
Victor is cool af
I just noticed, Jaice didn't know what to do with the bomb because he's not familiar with chemtech, while Victor who's from Zaun has lived all his life around it, he knows how chemtech works.
"people deserve to choice their own fates", said the man who chose to ignore his friend's wishes
"choice is false", said the man whose choice was taken
That was an amazing 2 hours ❤
I dunno getting shot in your chest by your best friend can change a man.
I associate the song ma meilleure enemie with my dog who is passing so it makes me cry
i don’t know how any other show is ever going to live up to arcane. i’m just gonna have to go about my life with forever subpar media, huh? they set the bar too high :(
Choice is purpose
Not to mention characters from zaun and piltover were all parallels of each other. Heimerdinger/Jayce and Singed/Victor dynamic, heimerdinger also drew another parallel with Vander. They were both basically the founders of piltover and "the lanes". They both had 2 students/children who were main characters of the show, and they were both cast out in lieu of "progress". Silco wanted to fulfill their dream of the nation or zaun and Jayce wanted to use hextech for the people immediately because they both thought it would change lives for the better. There are many more but my comment would be really too long.
Best written sbow out there
MY SHAYLAAAAAA 💔💔💔💔💔💔 NOOOO MY SHAYLAAAAAAAAAA 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
If only we got to see him get to this point instead of it all being offscreen
Because he had no choices his entire fucking life bro no choice in his body no choice in his illness no choice in being blown up no choice in being resurrected no choice in being KILLED AGAIN by his partner- even his finding himself a healer was barely a choice rather than the arcane guiding and influencing him. He also grew to believe in fate more than chance because of this so yeah it’s a killer character development so well done and makes sense.
Swear you Arkane fans would say watching paint dry has some bs meaning
The voice we hear is Hextech itself explain its own rationale
cold bro. goosebumps...
That proves that viktor was not there anymore
He chose to not blow ‘em up 🤣
can they not say anything else in movies and shows nowadays bro “there’s always a choice”
No way people actually thought S2 was good... It's fine if you enjoyed the fanservice and flashy animation, but don't act like the writing is anything above a 2/10. I'll ask this one question to prove it: why tf does Caitlin forgive Jinx enough to let her live / escape by the end? And don't say "because Vi", because Caitlin would not spare Jinx Bin-Laden because her fn girlfriend likes her (which is also a contradiction - in S2E1 she literally sas "that's not my sister anymore", 4 episodes later "what are you waiting for? He's your dad too" (cringiest line in the entire show btw)).
S1 9/10
S2 3/10 at best.
I think she understood that her need to punish Jinx was more a thing about her mother passing, and all of the bad decisions she had made, si forgive Jinx was her chance to let go and came back to be the good person she used to be and the person that was in love with Vi
I hate new viktor. Old "machine god" viktor was fire
Que bien escrito que está viktor por dios
People said that I t was rushed but if it had more seasons it would be a prolonged show. Remember too much writing can lead to lazy writing.
Such a good show
