Me too this was a song i sang to a girl I was dating who was 18 yrs younger than me, I told her it was all just fun, and sang this to her. 1988 or 89 I think.
Chaque fois que j'entends cette chanson, me prend une espèce de mélancolie qui me rappelle les jours sombres mais heureux accompagnés par les Waterboys.
Unlike the rubbish music that so called modern bands play these days, this a band has always made REAL music with REAL instruments.Mike scott and the waterboys are one of the greatest bands ever .
Every era produces a mountain of disposable dross but if you seek it out, or wait for the test of time to do its work, there are masterpieces to be found.
Waterboys - When Ye Go Away Lyrics Now he's brought down the rain And the Indian summer is through In the morning you'll be following your trail again Fair lady You ain't calling me to join you And I'm spoken for anyway But I will cry when ye go away I will cry when ye go away Your beauty is familiar And your voice is like a key It plays upon my mind And it opens up a door inside of me Your coat is made of magic And around your table angels play And I will cry when ye go away I will cry when ye go away Somebody left some whisky And the night is very young I've got much to say I've got more to tell And the words will soon be spilling from my tongue I will rave and I will ramble I'll do everything but make you stay Then I will cry when ye go away I will cry when ye go away When ye go away... When ye go away.
There's songs and there's songs everyone's a gem soundtrack to my life my favourite band since a girl called Johnny respect to Mike Scott Actually met him
Mike was and is my everything. I know there loads of more gifted musicians, songs that make me dance or nod my head. But no one makes me feel like Mike, Steve, Anto, Karl, I could go on for an hour or 2. But Pagan Place and This is the sea, were my daily listens.
One of my favourite WB songs and it reminds me of my college days in Dublin many moons ago, but I still prefer the album version with the haunting slide guitar
Saw the Waterboys at the Riviera Centre in Torquay in 1987. Capacity crowd of 30. As a shitfaced naval officer from Dartmouth round the corner, on stage with everyone else, nearly knocked Mike off the stage during 'Whole of the Moon'. Happy days for me. Less so for Mike
This song has stayed with me for 30 years - beautiful! One of my go to songs when i need a hug x
We all need a hug last 2 years
Hug for you! Love from Scotland

I first heard this song at the end of the 1980s. It's still one of my all time favorites from the Waterboys.

Saw them in Kilburn on St Patricks Day in the 80's.....Unreal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my favourite Waterboys track so happy and sad all at the same time..love it
Perfect! How can they be this good live?
I think with Mike Scott you get a man that loves to make music and he is inside the music of every song.
Chaque fois que j'entends cette chanson, me prend une espèce de mélancolie qui me rappelle les jours sombres mais heureux accompagnés par les Waterboys.
Just a magical haunting song, pure brilliance and lovely arrangement.
The Bing Lounge always brings out a superb performance of the artist.

Waterboys - When Ye Go Away Lyrics
Now he's brought down the rain
And the Indian summer is through
In the morning you'll be following your trail again
Fair lady
You ain't calling me to join you
And I'm spoken for anyway
But I will cry when ye go away
I will cry when ye go away
Your beauty is familiar
And your voice is like a key
It plays upon my mind
And it opens up a door inside of me
Your coat is made of magic
And around your table angels play
And I will cry when ye go away
I will cry when ye go away
Somebody left some whisky
And the night is very young
I've got much to say I've got more to tell
And the words will soon be spilling from my tongue
I will rave and I will ramble
I'll do everything but make you stay
Then I will cry when ye go away
I will cry when ye go away
When ye go away...
When ye go away.
In the morning you'll be following your trail again
fair play to you
your beauty is familiar and your voice is like a key it opens up my soul and torches up a fire in me (original album version )
Banjo gives all the color, along with violin!!!
Greetings from Hellas!
One of best tunes ever played at kink !!
Great song. I like to start all my playlists with Dunford's Fancy and sneak this one in too. Joy.

Inspired by Yeats me thinks..
Mike and The Waterboys always created beautiful music. Then there are the lyrics.
My favourite from the album , some days ;-) , a classic piece

Play that Fiddle Steve
A truly great song. By the way, does anyone know if the 'fiddle break' played by Steve Wickham is a traditional reel? Would it have a name? Thanks!
Have you guys done one of these with Sam Phillips?
For Barbara my only true love
Can anyone date this performance? My guess would be around 20 years ago.
That voice sounds really familiar! But I cant place who it reminds me of.
❤❤❤
Seen them loads, first time was in a dingy club in outskirts of Manchester maybe in 1986/7 Mike is brilliant and so is Steve
💚💚💚🍀🍀🍀
👏👍🏼

Around your table Angeles play
Apart from his obvious musical ability Mike has great hats
Would have loved to be there
