There are three kinds of fishing videos out there that I watch: 1) Pros with informational videos that teach us how to fish. 2) Pros showing us the possibilities that are meant to inspire us to keep chasing that once in a lifetime catch. 3) Amateur enthusiasts that show us what to actually expect. By far my favorite channel is yours Blake.
Awesome to see you at Deep lake. I lived on the water in one of those apartments at the RV resort for a couple years. Never caught much there, but it was great being able to take the canoe out anytime I wanted. Good place for anyone who wants to go out paddling and casting for a little bit.
I bought banjo set in Michigan about 25 yrs ago. It works, more often than not. The 1st experience was in NW lower Michigan summer fishing off our dock in Lake County; caught a 10" crappie with a scar on it's back. 20 mins later, caught the same crappie. An hour later, caught the same crappie. Nice video.
I can relate to your frugal nature. Your stories are authentic (or you sure fooled me) and that's most of the appeal. Glad you don't have a $17,000 kayak with all the expensive in the way and silly-ass addons!
Just found you, enjoyed it. Going out tomorrow with a new order of Banjo’s. I got them for my birthday one summer almost 30 years ago, can’t wait to see if the new ones hold up to the memories.
Good to know about the Enumclaw Deep Lake! If you were going for trout, I think the shallowness if the lake cooks em by July. That or they're all caught by then. Thanks for watching!
Banjo minnow was the best ever when we were kids. My brother and I saved up and finally got them. I remember all the big name lures trying to keep them off the shelves and we had to buy them at Boscov's! Yes the department clothing store! Does anyone know where to get them these days?
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your banjo memories. You can order em online now. There is a new batch now for 2022. Crazy expensive tho. $50 for the basic set, not including the frogs or anything. I ordered some. I'll do a video on em in a month or two!
Kayak fishing video seems much more relaxed. I use to follow Zoffinger for kayak vids but less so these days. Recently stopped watching "Fishing with Rod" since they started doing nothing but fishing lodge "Promo" stuff. PNW T-Shirt! Glad you had fun in Alaska, I've never had a dedicated fishing "Trip", Mike
Thanks Hobbies Hobo! Yes sir PNW Samson! I love his videos! You'll probably see me on a charter every now and again, but it'll never be because they're paying me or a free trip. I had those opportunities early in my channel, and decided it's better to be a small fish than a big shill.
@@WAFishQuest I'm O.K. with someone who honestly wants to reap the rewards on occasion but it's when it becomes a regular commercial advertisement that I lose interest. Went for the summer shakedown with the boat, today, finally, 5 hours, 100 km trip. All good to go.
Nice video. Believe it or not, my BIGGEST carp came from the banjo 006. It was insane. I still have the banjo minnows in the retired tacklebox. Was thinking of bring it out for the heck of it after watching your video.
Relaxing way to fish for sure. I would’ve been awfully tempted to set up shop over those bluegill and put on a free lip piercing event 😂 they are fun to catch
This randomly appeared on my page, so I have to comment since I’ve used these baits while growing up and fishing north Louisiana in the early 90s I can vouch that these baits may have been the best soft plastic jerk bait/shad imitator on the market. The bait was so limber and had great movement that if a bass saw it you were getting a bite. I unfortunately fell for the helicopter lure and they were the worst money I’ve ever spent on baits 😂. The banjo minnow is highly effective and easy to use. I think a drop shot or at Tokyo rig would make them amazing. I’ll be getting Ava set of these when I get a chance. It’s probably the only “as seen on TV” lure that I would recommend
Nice! Thanks Cross Fire! Living in western Washington, the bass fishing isn't great out here. Well, at least not as good in sunnier climates. But the banjo gets em here too! I missed two in this video because I am so rusty at bass fishing! Forgot about the headshake treatment. Ha ha.
I too got my mother to buy me that for a birthday. They did an extremely good job and were very durable. If the bite is slow these do great at "triggering a genetic response" lol.
I fell prey to the flying lure as a kid. Grandma bought us two sets. Growing up on the peninsula there weren't many bass around. We did hook a few in lake ozette. I bet they'd be pretty good for coho now that I know about twitching.
I remember those! I bet you're right about the twitching... Only good I ever did with one was a big wild trout hit one in a high mountain lake once. It was a gorgeous fish, maybe 16 inches, but only fish I ever caught on them also.
@@WAFishQuestyeah I would have really liked one, but it was alot of money back then and it just wasn't there. Looking back I can say it builds character 😀 I even bought one a few years back online and it never showed up 😤🤣 lol so I have since given up my dreams of being a banjo minnow pro. Lol. Thanks for all you do Blake, your videos make these long winter days more enjoyable. Cheers my friend 🙂🥶
The original was segmented. Problem was you had to add eyes, which connected to the hook, and they gave a bunch of minnows and like 3 eyes. Lost one 1st day and another a week later. Never had any luck with them and never caught a single fish. I still have them but now I'm afraid to fish them and lose my last set of eyes. 😆Nice video, btw.
Know the feeling I’m down to my last one myself, never got around to buying replacements and now they don’t make them anymore. I did however catch about 15 fish in one day once. Now I think this year they have brought them back buts it’s a different style than the eyes
I've never caught a bass over 3 pounds on one, buy a lot of smaller ones. I find the best results with the let it dive and twitch approach. You got to have line totally slack, and if starts to move at all, let em have it! : )
I use to watch hours and hours of the infomercials of the banjo minnow to this day i can say mom wat infomercial did i use to watch for hours and she knws the banjo minnow i dont knw why i was so infatuated with it
Well you know if you would do different actions with it you'd have better performance. But instead you're using the same twitching motion instead of doing different things. I guess you lack the knowledge on how to do different things with it. I would be jigging it about three times and then reel it in slowly. Then I would do like a twitch jerk. Reeling it twitch it reeling it twitching it. Those will get better strikes. I had the banjo minnow and mine got tore up from northern pike and Bass even catfish hit it. And I hate to tell you this but you do not know your fish. That was a bluegill that you caught not a sunfish. A sunfish has a belly that's yellow and a bluegill self-explanatory.

Wow thanks Troy! That's about the highest compliment I've ever received. Definitely inspires me to be more active!
JUST what I Needed !! another entertaining ,,sincere, wonderful Fish quest !! I remember those Banjo Minnows too :)
You bought em! Thanks Mom!
Blake, my kids and I really enjoy all of your videos. They are very informative and I love that you practice good fishing ethics.
Thanks a ton Tyler! I super appreciate your kind words!
This video brought back TV lure memories! I was super excited to get the flyin lure in my youth. Nice video. Tight lines. The Piscatorian
Thanks as always!
Thank you for making these videos for so many years.
Thanks a ton Lucas! It'll be 10 years this March!

Thanks Mark! It is true that I am very cheap! (On vacation though I'm known to open the wallet).

Thank you again for a wholesome video.
Thanks Rich! Appreciate your viewership and comment as always.
My wife and I fished that lake once but got skunked we really like the other deep lake in enumclaw at nolte state park thanks for another great video!

Your love for Washington makes me love it more, too.
Thank you so much! We do get to live in a very beautiful part of the world.
Love it! Keep em coming!
Thanks Brian!
The banjo minnow is back
Heck yeah! I want to do this video again with a better hook.
Nice shirt man! Haha. Great video, cheers!
Thanks Chris! Sorry my gut swallowed the bottom of your logo!

Oh I was! If I had another 30 minutes probably would have! Had to get back and get the campfire going/start the grill tho (was camping with family).
Are you using a snap swivel?, could I use a loop knot? Thank You!

HI NICE VID..
WHERE CAN I GET THAT KIT BANJO MINNOW ....SHARE LINK PLEASE
Hello and thank you! This kit is from the 1990s. It is my understanding they're making them again tho!
Lucky! My Dad refused to buy me the set, lol.
It was a pretty sweet birthday or Christmas! (Birthday I think).
sweet old school trigger cast reel
Thank you thank you!
I've caught bass on the banjer minner. I can get the same action from flukes and sluggos though.
I agree! And flukes and sluggos are muuuch cheaper. Still, the banjos are legit.
John Gillespie! Great Vid!
You using the originally banjo minnow? Yours look different from what i remember it looking like.
I must have watched that infomercial a thousand times. I wanted a Banjo minnow kit so bad. Never got one 😑🤣
I'm sorry Jeremy! That has to be a hard youth. (My old man was a meth addict, but it was okay 'cause I had the power of the banjo minnow, ha ha)!

"Banned from fishing tournament's!"
Ha! Yes! That phrase brings back the memories!
I still have mine from 20 years ago. Might have to break them out this year
Nice! They are a lot of fun. Thanks Brad!
My buddy and I are coming up to Washington from Nevada in December and would LOVE TO HAVE YOU JOIN US FOR SOME SQUIDDING and CLAMMING. Let me know!
For sure! Just let me know dates when it gets closer!
I have the banjo minnow too. But I haven't catch anything on it yet.
I've never caught a bass over 3 pounds on one, buy a lot of smaller ones. I find the best results with the let it dive and twitch approach. You got to have line totally slack, and if starts to move at all, let em have it! : )
I always wanted to try it do it really work
Banjo minnow = banjo background music HAHAHA
I've paid for a lottttt of banjo tracks in my day!
That spot does look bassy
I remember watching that tape all day lol
Me too!! 😂
You're going to fast with it. You'll get most fish on while it drops and or sits before the twitch.
I agree. The weed growth was so bad I was twitching after like a foot so it didn't get tangled. 👍

Ok Todd I’ll reel it in exactly like you said
I had the helicopter lure and the flying lure..... Good times, good times .........
I had the flying lure too! I had hoping I had one left, but apparently not.
It's no gimmick, these lures are so good when you fish with them right
And I really didn't fish em right either 😅
The banjo minnows are a unbelievable bait I have caught 100s of 100s of pounds of fish off of them
