    Why the shipping isn’t a problem for me: It’s simple math. This product is $16.99 for 16oz nearly a dollar per ounce. Plus $10 shipping is $26.99 for 16 oz right? Ok so before this came out I actually purchased the Camille Rose Naturals Almond Jai twisting butter. It was also $16.99.....for 8oz. Shipping aside, that’s the same price for half the product. Let that sink in. And then we get to shipping, you might think that shipping makes up for it right? Wrong. To get the same amount of product as the Melanin Twisting Creme, I’d have to purchase two of the Camille Twisting Butters. That’s $33.98 for 16oz of product as opposed to $26.99 for 16oz. This is a VERY reasonably priced product for the amount you get shipping included. If you go by amount, people pay just as much or even more for similar products all the time. We just don’t notice cause we usually buy 8oz at a time. If we were regularly spending over $30 at a time for products nobody would complain about her price. Heck we’d be praising it.

      Bri Gilmore Hall Foreal tho! When I saw how much it was I decided that even if it only worked as well as my almond jai butter did that I would toss that butter and only buy Melanin from now on. Of course it works ten-times better that almond butter ever did and I am in LOVE.

      I LOVE BLACK HAIR. LOVE IT!
      My daughters had hair down to their butts. They are now 36 and 31 now. . Oldest one still has her long hair and the youngest one cut hers. 😢
      Anyway, I would wash, condition and braid their hair, between my thighs every Sunday.
      Their hair was very long and very healthy. I miss those days.
      Our hair is the best because it is so versatile. We can wear it in so many styles and we can make it as straight as we want to. Just need to keep it healthy.🤗

      Christina Washington Arts The leave in is my fav! It is a really good detangler and leaves hair moist. I would definitely repurchase for myself and my daughter who has very thick, dense, 4b/c hair. The cream is not very moisturizing to me but will leave you with a very defined twist or braid out. The verdict is still out on the oil. I should probably try the loc method to see how the cream and oil perform.

    I put this on Whitney's twist out video but repeat it here... yeah like it that much... LOL... did mine two weeks ago and it is still going strong! I'm a 4C low porosity and twist outs never ever work right for me. Take days and days to dry and then don't hold the curl. But I did this and used it with Mane choice gel as my last layer. I used a t shirt to soak up any excess product. Some amazing things happened 1) First the first time ever my hair dried in 24 hours instead of 3 4 days! 2) No flaking! (I had used that mane choice before and it flaked like crazy. The only reason I used it this time because it was the only gel I had in the house. I don't like gels because they make my hair crunchy (cast) or flaky) This time I used it with Melanin and no flakes! 3) its 2 weeks and its still defined and going strong... in fact each day it has gotten bigger and fluffier. I hate to wash it and start over... its so pretty LOL. 4) each twist was well defined! no I don't feel like participating today twists LOL. and the more I divided them the cuter they got! I'm so happy I can finally wear a twist out after NINE LONG YEARS of trying! Its so funny, my hair now looks exactly like my favorite natural wig, LOL. Someone asked me are you wearing your wig or is that your hair, LOL too funny. BTW I will be 56 in july. Hair over 50 is different hair than what it is in your 30s. So glad this product worked for this Golden Girl!

    • @Brownmahfun
      @Brownmahfun 5 лет назад +14

      Fast is less then an hour. My hair is completely dry in 15 min. And when I put in product it dries about 30 min with product, that is fast. As far as the roots it could be, one or two things. Your roots are healthy with good sebum on it OR your roots are covered in buildup, either way your ends are porous.

I always use a gel on top of my styler and a good leave in conditioner because I like hold. This helps my twist outs last longer. I have only tried a wash and go once, it just didn’t work for me, I ended up twisting it.

    My hair is similar to your in texture. I was always frustrated with the extreme definition only at the roots of the flat twists. Try doing a 3-strand twist in order to retain good definition all the way to the ends of your twist. You can do a 3 strand twist from the beginning of the flat twist, or you can switch from 2-strand to a 3-strand twist when you reach the free part of the twist. Let us know how this works out for you!

    -- If you do decide to check your porosity, don't do the water test. It's wholly inaccurate due to surface tension. But going off your preference for heavier products, you're most likely on the higher end of the spectrum.

    I don't know about you, but when I put oil in my hair while styling it lessens the definition, breaking down whatever product I put on before it. Maybe that's why the ends weren't as defined, because of the oil you put on. Have you tried without the extra oil? It came out beautiful regardless!

  • @IttyBittyPiglet
    @IttyBittyPiglet 5 лет назад +2

    I have 4b 4c as well. The first time I used the product i didnt like it. I usually use Giovanni direct leavein and kinky curly custard. I added the elongating cream after my leavein and I love it. It elongates my hair and makes my fine hair thicken up(in twists). I dont do wash n go's anymore, ive focused on mastering twist outs.

    The water test isn’t good for knowing your porosity, it’s based off the behavior of your hair. Since your hair takes so long to get dry I would say you might have low porosity hair

    • @Naakie

    One thing I notice about your hair in ALL of your videos, is that those ends are always clipped and even. I mean you're never on RUclips in need of a trim. What is your trimming schedule? Do you trim yourself or go to a salon? Your hair looks so healthy! And it's so noticeable when you do your twist! I hope you have time to respond to this comment. 🤞

    • @Naakie
      @Naakie  5 лет назад +6

      I really trim as needed. I’ve been trimming a lot (probably too much) lately. Sometimes I blow dry my hair myself and then go somewhere like Supercuts or Great Clips to get a trim (I look for someone who also has natural hair to do it haha). Other times I’ll dust my ends when my hair is in twist on wash days. But only when my ends are feeling super rough or I’m seeing too many split ends/breakage. I have NO tried and true method which is why I’ve never filmed a video on it 😩

  • @TodaysSpecialMinis
    @TodaysSpecialMinis 5 лет назад +1

    I think your hair looks good - you seems to have at least 2 or 3 different textures in your hair though as some twists came out super defined and some came out just a little fuzzy. I think the hair around your forehead is coarser/thicker and some areas seemed shorter, too, so you have different lengths as well. But still - you can rock this hairstyle and be confident because it's cute. Even people who didn't like the product (yes, there are some people who didn't) their hair style still looked super cute. I like a good scent in a product, too, but I can do scentless. I usually use chi silk in my hair as a finisher to - add a good sent - anyway. So I would probably continue doing that if I had these products.

    Your hair looks really nice after the Melanin product. I have the same issue with my hair. The back holds well when I undo the twist, more coily. The top of my head, especially the front doesn't twist well, no matter how long I leave my hair in twists. The hair at the top and front areas are less coily, straighter and finer.
    I really want to try these products but the postage will be so expensive as I live in the UK 🇬🇧.

    So the porosity test with the water wasn't accurate for me all this time I thought I was high porosity and come to find out I'm low porosity. My hair doesn't hold moisture nor does it release which is why it always looked so dry. . But that Shea moisture low porosity shampoo and conditioner works miracles for sure. I'm wanting to try this melanin elongating cream next because my coils never stay stretched 🙄.

    Your hair looks great. However, a little light oil is needed for more shine. After your twist or braids air dry, add some grapeseed oil and/or jojoba, before unraveling.

  • @monie948
    @monie948 3 года назад

    14:47 if you have very thick dense natural 4C hair then your hair is low porosity. one way of testing to find out is if you put deep conditioner on your hair and it takes a long time to absorb, where it just sits on your hair then you have low porosity hair.

    I really want to order the Melanin Haircare products but I live in Canada. The shipping rates are a major problem and the math doesn't work out.
    International shipping is $30 US/$38 CAD
    Products is $16.99 US/ $20.05 CAD
    So this product is really $58.05 CAD plus custom fees and duties
    Sorry, as much as I want to support Naptural. This is just too much. I have ordered other black hair care products from US businesses and the international shipping rates are much lower.

      I thought the same thing at first. But consider this. The jar is 16oz of cream, more than the usual 8oz, so it's heavy. I watched a (positive) video on the design of the jar too, which makes a difference in how much product you're getting. Shipping is free after $45. I added the oil, which can be used on your body as well, and the visor for twist days at the gym.
