    Glad you showed the control line flying. I will occasionally take my CL planes out to the RC field and it usually stops the RC flying and the other club members watch. I keep trying to get them to try CL, but no takers yet. Try it, you will like it.

    Hey guys just started flying with my carbon cub in nh. A fun field to check out in bedford is the park on Wallace rd. Super hilly and just massive. Got a little sketchy when the wind picked up tho haha

    You made me want to try something I used to enjoy a lot, with is high alpha flying with a .46 glow trainer.
    I modified one of my dad's plane (I think it was a Hangar 9 Alpha 40) by swapping the 4s NiCad with a tiny 700 2s Lifepo4, shifting the centre of gravity backwards and I maxed the throws on all the servos. Used the lowest pitch prop I could find, and flew the thing around in the wind like it was meant to do 3D out of the box.
    Now If I were to do this again I would probably try to slightly modify the fuselage for further weight reduction, enlarge the surfaces, use mini digital servos (rather than 20 year old Futaba S148) and probably up the engine to a .55 with a bladder tank to ensure it stays running during high G manoeuvres.

    Hi, I have a question on your Turbo Timber Evo. I can trim mine to fly well at a set speed but when I increase the speed it climbs and falls when I decrease the speed. I have not tried changing the CG yet. Does your do this? Is it a CG issue or just the planes characteristics? I thought of changing the thrust line of the motor down a bit, what do you think of that? Thanks, DC

    • @TailHeavyProductions
      @TailHeavyProductions  Год назад

      This is normal for any airplane - a trimmed airplane is only trimmed for one specific airspeed. Once you increase the throttle, your airspeed also increases which also effects many forces on the airplane including what’s called the down force of the horizontal stabilizer. At higher speeds than your normal trimmed configuration, the down force on the tail increases which raises the nose of the plane. The opposite is true for lower speeds. Essentially, a trim setting will only hold you straight and level at a constant airspeed and power setting. Outside of that, it’s normal to see pitch changes with changes in airspeed.
