    Sabbath/Shabbat questions is what led me to Torah observance! Spot on, Miles!

      The Hebrew Sabbath was originally a Sabbathon . . . it was celebrated at intervals of seven days, corresponding with the changes in the moon’s phases . . . Encyclopaedia Biblica, 1899, p. 4180.
      Shabbat originally arose from the lunar cycle, containing four weeks ending in Sabbath, plus one or two additional unreckoned days per [lunar] month. The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia: Volume 10 Cohen, Simon (1943 p 482-483.)
      the week of seven days was connected with the lunar month, of which it is, approximately, a fourth . . .“ The Jewish Encyclopedia
      The Hebrew month is a lunar month and the quarter of this period - one phase of the moon - appears to have determined the week of seven days. Encyclopaedia Biblica, 1899, p. 4780.
      At first the New Moon festival was not counted among the seven days of the week; after 28 days had elapsed [7 days x 4 weeks], one or two days were intercalated as New Moon days, whereupon a new cycle of four weeks began, so that the Sabbath was a movable festival…. Later the week and the Sabbath became fixed [to the Roman cycling planetary week]; and this gradually resulted in taking away from the New Moon festival its popular importance. . . The Jewish Encyclopedia, Pastoral Feast.
      The [early] Hebrews employed lunar seven-day weeks, which ended with special observances on the seventh day, but none the less were tied to the moon’s course. Rest Days, Hutton Webster, p. 254-255
      The weeks do not continue in a regular cycle regardless of the moon. Each month has four weeks, the beginning with the New Moon. I have no doubt that this was the old Hebrew system. Babylonian Menologies and the Semitic Calendars, p. 89.
      The connection of the Sabbath with lunar phases, however, was (later) discarded by the Israelites . . . The New Schaff-Herzog Religious Encyclopedia, p. 135-136.
      It is certain that the Jews celebrated . . . Pentecost . . . without regard in either case to the day of the [modern Roman] week. Oxford English Dictionary, 1971 Edition, Vol. 2, Pentecost.
      The Sabbath depending, in Israel’s nomadic period, upon the observation of the phases of the moon, it could not, accordingly be a fixed day [meaning a fixed planetary day of the modern Roman cycling week]. The Jewish Encyclopedia: Volume 10, p. 590.
      Most theologians and some scholars assume that mainstream Jewish society, at the time of Jesus was practicing a fixed seven-day week which was the same as the modern fixed [cycling planetary designations] seven-day week. This is extremely doubtful. The change, from a lunar to a fixed week, was brought about by the power and influence of Rome. As long as the Nazarenes held power in Jerusalem, all Roman practices and customs, including that of the consecutive week, were held at bay. Shawui Sabbath: Ancient Sabbath Observance
      In the years following Clement of Alexandria’s time (A.D. 150-215), an ominous change started to take place that was to radically change the Christian concept of the Sabbath. This intimate connection between the week and the month was soon dissolved. It is certain that the week soon followed a development of its own, and it became the custom - without paying any regard to the days of the month (i.e. the luni-solar month) . . . so that the New Moon no longer coincided with the first day of the month. Then, on page 4179 of the same encyclopedia, we read: “The introduction of the custom of celebrating the Sabbath every 7th day, irrespective of the relationship of the day to the moon’s phases, led to a complete separation from the ancient view of the Sabbath. . . Encyclopaedia Biblica, 1903 p. 5290.
      It should be noted that the oldest dated Christian inscription to employ a planetary designation [Sunday thru Saturday, unbroken weekly cycles] belongs to the year 269 A.D.
      Inscriptiones Christianae urbis Romae, ed. De Rossi, 1861, i, No. 1.
      The present Jewish calendar was fixed [changed to the Roman planetary weekly cycle] in the fourth century. Jewish Theological Seminary of America, Letter by Louis Finkelstein to Dr. L. E. Froom, Feb. 20, 1939.
      Some Dead Sea Scrolls, such as 4Q325, 4Q326, 4Q327, and 4Q394, contain fixed week calendar systems which may represent an early attempted transition from the more ancient lunar phase week toward the modern fixed week made mandatory by Rome a few centuries later. Dead Sea Scroll fragments also preserve a luni-solar calendar, along with new and dark moons which are unnecessary if they only kept the purely solar calendar of 364 days. [Author Unknown]
      This change from the luni-solar to a fixed solar calendar occurred in Rome during the repressive measures which were enacted against ALL Jewish customs . . .during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. With the fall of the Nazarene headquarters…at Jerusalem, this new Roman calendar quickly spread throughout ‘Christendom.’ This new calendar not only replaced yearly festival dates such as Passover, but it also revamped the concept of the week and its seventh-day. Iranaeus 2nd Century A.D.
      The calendar was used by ALL the original disciples of Yeshua…This original Nazarene lunar-solar calendar was supplanted by a Roman “planetary week” and calendar in 135 C.E. - when the “Bishops of the Circumcision” were displaced from Jerusalem. This began a three hundred year controversy concerning the TRUE CALENDAR AND CORRECT SABBATH: This [calendar] controversy arose after the exodus of the bishops of the circumcision and has continued until our time.” Epiphanius, HE4, 6, 4.
      In the years following Clement of Alexandria’s time, an ominous change started to take place that was to radically change the Christian concept of the Sabbath. This intimate connection, records the Encyclopedia Biblica, between the week and the month was soon dissolved. It is certain that the week soon followed a development of its own, and it became the custom without paying any regard to the days of the month [i.e. the lunar month]. Encyclopedia Biblica p. 5290.
      “The early Christians [Messiah followers] had at first adopted the Jewish [lunar] seven-day week with its numbered weekdays, but by the close of the third century A.D. this began to give way to the planetary week; and in the fourth and fifth centuries the pagan designations became generally accepted in the western half of Christendom. The use of the planetary names by Christians attests to the growing influence of astrological speculations introduced by converts from paganism.” Rest Days: A Study in Early Law and Morality. New York: The MacMillan Company, 1916, p. 220.
      Sabbath and New Moon (Rosh Chodesh), both periodically recur in the course of the year. The New Moon is still, and the Sabbath originally was, dependent upon the lunar cycle. Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, “Holidays,” p. 410.
      The nations do their counting with the Sun, but Israel, with the Moon. The Mekilta, a work of Rabbi Yisma’el Merita (2nd century AD).
      “The first day of the lunar month was observed as a holy day. . . As on the Sabbath, trade and handicraft work were stopped (Amos 8:5; Ezekiel 46:3) and the temple was opened for public worship…. It was an occasion for state banquets (1 Samuel. 20:5-24). Smith’s Bible Dictionary (1884): New Moon.
      Under the reign of Constantius the persecutions of the Jews reached such a height that the computation of the (luni-solar) calendar (was) forbidden under pain of severe punishment. (Source: The Jewish Encyclopedia, “Calendar.”)

    Thinking about the episode of the woman caught in adultery and the bringing of her to Yeshua for the purpose of trapping him. It wasn't the woman the Pharisees wanted to stone, but rather the incident was supposed to provide grounds for stoning Yeshua. This leads me to think about Yeshua's words in Luke 11:50 "...the blood of all the prophets, shed since the foundation of the world, may be charged against this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the house of God..."
    If, as some say, the Zechariah referred to is actually the father of John the Baptist, who was killed actually in the Temple, then Yeshua would have been quite aware that the purpose of the Pharisees was to kill him also, probably in exactly the same place.

    In addition to Greek maps and a Hebrew translator, there was another Jew in the 1492 story. Abraham Zacuto, a rabbi, was indispensable to Cristopher Columbus as recounted by Nehemia Gordon in a youtube podcast.
    ruclips.net/video/sYMX26Kkm6k/видео.html
    Zacuto, wrote a book that included astronomical tables that were accurate for navigation at sea by Columbus. Also he invented an astrolabe day/night navigation instrument which he taught Columbus how to use.
    The History Guy on youtube recently recounted the Jamaican story of Christopher Columbus here:

    The bitter waters that cause the curse.
    I wondered if Yeshua was writing in the dirt because he didn’t have a book handy as the instructions prescribe [verse 23]. There is also an interesting version of this in the extra biblical book “The Protoevangelium of James” in regards to Mary & Joseph.
    Numbers 5:11-31 KJV
    [11] And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
    [12] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him,
    [13] And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner ;
    [14] And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:
    [15] Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.
    [16] And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD :
    [17] And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:
    [18] And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse:
    [19] And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:
    [20] But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:
    [21] Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;
    [22] And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.
    [23] And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:
    [24] And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.
    [25] Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar:
    [26] And the priest shall take an handful of the offering, even the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water.
    [27] And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.
    [28] And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
    [29] This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled;
    [30] Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.
    [31] Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.
    ========================
    An interesting extra-biblical rendition of this in the case of Mary & Joseph:
    “The Protoevangelium of James”
    15. And Annas the scribe came to him, and said: Why have you not appeared in our assembly? And Joseph said to him: Because I was weary from my journey, and rested the first day. And he turned, and saw that Mary was with child. And he ran away to the priest, and said to him: Joseph, whom you vouched for, has committed a grievous crime. And the priest said: How so? And he said: He has defiled the virgin whom he received out of the temple of the LORD, and has married her by stealth, and has not revealed it to the sons of Israel. And the priest answering, said: Has Joseph done this? Then said Annas the scribe: Send officers, and you will find the virgin with child. And the officers went away, and found it as he had said; and they brought her along with Joseph to the tribunal. And the priest said: Mary, why have you done this? And why have you brought your soul low, and forgotten the LORD your God? You that wast reared in the holy of holies, and that received food from the hand of an angel, and heard the hymns, and danced before Him, why have you done this? And she wept bitterly, saying: As the LORD my God lives, I am pure before Him, and know not a man. And the priest said to Joseph: Why have you done this? And Joseph said: As the LORD lives, I am pure concerning her. Then said the priest: Bear not false witness, but speak the truth. You have married her by stealth, and hast not revealed it to the sons of Israel, and hast not bowed your head under the strong hand, that your seed might be blessed. And Joseph was silent.
    16. And the priest said: Give up the virgin whom you received out of the temple of the LORD. And Joseph burst into tears. And the priest said: I will give you to drink of the water of the ordeal of the LORD, and He shall make manifest your sins in your eyes. And the priest took the water, and gave Joseph to drink and sent him away to the hill-country; and he returned unhurt. And he gave to Mary also to drink, and sent her away to the hill-country; and she returned unhurt. And all the people wondered that sin did not appear in them. And the priest said: If the LORD God has not made manifest your sins, neither do I judge you. And he sent them away. And Joseph took Mary, and went away to his own house, rejoicing and glorifying the God of Israel.

      The topic of this current series mainly deals with the Hebrew origins of the New Testament Gospels. E.L.S. mainly applies to the Torah (first 5 books of the Old Testament). There may be someone studying if there are any sequences outside of the Torah but, none that I’ve seen talked about on this channel.
      As for Hebrew word puns or rhymes in the ancient Hebrew Gospels, some examples have been shown to exist and are held up as evidence of the primacy or at least the authenticity of the Hebrew Gospel manuscripts.

    Bread does not mean leavened bread it means simply bread that can be leavened or unleavened. Yeshua was having Passover and there i no leavened bread on the table at that time.

    • @donkennedy9170
      @donkennedy9170 3 года назад +2

      Its generally agreed that this was just a dinner, with regular bread, not a passover with unleavened bread. Yeshiva would never break the torah by having leavened bread at the passover dinner. The dinner was also not the passover dinner because it was held at the beginning of the 14th, the day of preparation, not the 15th, the actual passover.

    • @cosmingcosma
      @cosmingcosma 3 года назад +1

      @@donkennedy9170 actually the Gospel of Luke tells us clearly that the day of 14 had come in Luke 22:7. The day of 14 is the day they sacrificed the Passover and prepare the unleavened bread for the Feast. The disciples prepared the Passover Luke 22:13 and in the evening when at the sunset in began the 15 they sit to eat the Passover. So it is clear that the bread at the table was unleavened. Unleavened bread is also bread. The Jews to this day bless Adonay on the Seder Pesach for the bread (lechem) even if on the table is unleavened bread, because unleavened bread is still a type of bread. Keep to what the Scriptures teach.

      Miles Jones actually pointed out in one of the interviews that there was no leavened bread on all of Israel, 30 days before passover during the time of Yeshua. I guess they don't always believe their own guests as real authority's.

      Just a thought , since Yeshua is a prophet greater than Moses and Moses made request of the lord to change passover for the unclean who could not celebrate the passover because of a dead body, Moses inquired of the lord and was told they could have passover the next month as long as they kept the festival of unleavened bread with the new celebration. Don't you think Yeshua could have inquired of his father to allow him to celebrate one day early, since he is the passover lamb and a prophet greater than Moses ?

      @@jimmcbee152 there is no need for one day early. The verses in John can be explained to fit Mat and Luke. During the Festival there were many peace sacrifices from bulls and sheep that were also called Passover because the Feast was called Passover.
      And the Preparation day of the Passover is correctly translated the Friday of the Passover week.
      Everything fits.

    Rev. 12:4-5
    First I believe that it is an 'echo' of the thing past alone about Jesus* and His proud Father being of HIS Child HIS Son The Massiah interjected in this section of Scripture, sort to speak
    as described first by Dr. Gene Kim. It is also possible, referring to be futuristic this being in Revelation, that the following is along side of this: The last gentile being saved and the 'Church' (the child) is then being Raptured just before Satan can devour God's 'living' and perhaps even the dead Saints (at least the bodies like he tried with Moses written in the Book of Jude), the elect made 'full' with the Gentiles, better.. GOD THE *Father's children or better.. 'child', the living Saints, and God's, the Bridegroom which is Jesus, and the Bride, thus JESUS's Church. Then 'the woman' (left 'fleeing to the mountains') Luke 21:10-[21]-28; Matt. 24:16 The Start of the Tribulation) is the nation of Israel that is the 'root and fatness of the olive tree' (Romans 11:17) that Christianity (woman has child) is originally from. Praise the Lord *Jesus*!

    How to be born into God’s family
    The new testament is God’s last Will and testament to all mankind.
    In order for the Will to apply to us we must be spirit born because our God is spirit. Before we can be spirit born our past sins must be repented of and washed away in baptism. We must do more than just believe the gospel, we also must obey the Gospel== 1peter 4:17.
    Mark 16:16-17 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, (and) they shall speak with new tonges=such as found in Acts 2:4 when the 120 received God’s spirit. In other words when they were spirit born. Jesus said in John 3:3 Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Born again is to be Born a second time.
    1Peter 3:21 Peter said the like figure whereunto even baptism doth also save us. How can anyone reject baptism when Jesus even set it as an example and had John baptize him. Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death. If your baptized into Jesus=why would not take on his name as your baptized. All the apostles baptized in Jesus name and Not one person in the Bible was ever baptized in the titles father son an Holy Ghost.
    Acts 4:10-12 Salvation only in Jesus name 12=Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, where by we must be saved.
    In Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues (other languages unknown to them) as the spirit gave them utterance. We in this age must receive God’s spirit the same way the early Christians did. Acts 8:16, Acts 10:42 Acts 19:2
    If you have not received God’s spirit the same way you’ll miss the rapture. His spirit is the power that takes you up when the trumpet sounds and the church goes into the clouds to meet Jesus.
