I'm so excited to have found your wildlife rescue. I'm looking forward to getting your signed book too. I'm in Australia but I also have a business in America. How incredible to see the great horned owl release, makes life on earth worthwhile.
Wow! That owl was indescribably beautiful. He eyes - amazing color, I loved his "eyelashes". The sounds he was making and also looking right at you, just WOW!! Thank you Martin and your wife for your lifelong dedication to saving wildlife.
Another lucky bird thanks to Martin and Susan and lucky us subscribers who get to watch these very special acts of kindness! Thanks to the both of you from the bottom of our hearts!
A great horned owl came into my care when it was found downed by a friend. No one in my area would come take it so I did. I called a raptor rehabilitator who instructed me to take it to a local vet who immediately euthanized it due to a broken humerus in it's wing. They gave me no recourse, and disallowed a second opinion. It was horrible. SO glad Utah has someone like you.
We're sorry to hear the owl did not survive. We're glad you tried to get appropriate help. You are always welcome to contact us directly at info@gowildlife.org
11:10 Fun fact: We have evidence that some non-avian dinosaurs (Troodontids) had the same facial features as owls do but with longer snouts (and nasty serrated teeth) because they were also nocturnal predators. Pretty nifty case of convergent evolution. Also the feathered feet you can see at 5:15 are most likely an ancestral dinosaurian feature that got reactivated. The broad scales modern birds have on their feet are actually modified feathers but the genetics for the original configuration is still there (the small round scales are most likely ancestral). Boots are also pretty primitive, even Archaeopteryx was booted like an eagle
Does Martín do falconry? Or does he just focus on rehabilitation? If so I would love to see a beginners guide to falconry, maybe manning/training video. I have seen plenty others but seeing how his connection to this animals is so deep I would love some advice. Thanks again!
I can't believe people give thumbs down on your videos. I love all of your videos and can tell that you put your heart and soul into every critter you encounter. Thank you for educating the public on what it takes to care for and to be able to release these beautiful birds. As a photographer myself another big Thank you too to Susan for filming and all your help behind the scenes. Keep up the good work, what you do does not go in vain. Every life matters... Edit: I found your channel by recommendation when I was watching videos of sea turtles rescued from discarded nets and other debris.
I love how when you were carrying the owl how happy you looked and how great you where to the owl. Love all ur videos!!!!!!!! Only if i could meet you one time you inspire me so much i absolutely love animals!!!!!!
A couple of days ago, i found your channel, and love to watch it. It makes my heart warm up, to see you guys, doing that amazing Job. It feels so god to know that there are people, in this cruel world, that care so much for the wildlife. I am from Germany and we have less birds of Prey every year. THANKS!!!!
Very funny with this HORNED OWL, A BEAUTIFUL BIRD with those big eyes and eyelashes. A LITTLE STAR! 💥 When you carry him, its sound of klicking - I've never heard before it's a waming not to "kill you", as you say, and it's whistling and it even makes sounds like a small bird. I love your fantastic presentation of the bird, from head to toes. And your gentle and wonderful speaking with the "kiddo". One more happy bird lifted to the sky after being in your tender cares. An outstanding video! THANKS FOR SHARING, Martin and the person video-recording! /Christina. Stockholm, Sweden. 😀💖💙💛
i don't know why I just noticed this, but I find it interesting that it looks you in the face while beak snapping at you. I was just kind of surprised that the bird recognized a human face and knows to direct it's ire there in order to communicate it's dislike
A few weeks ago I saw a Great Horned Owl high up in my neighbor's tree. I noticed it because the Who Who Hoot sound. Awesome to see one so close up in this video and glad he made it back to the wild!
This owl almost looks like a puppet in your arms. What beautiful eyes and lashes! I just started watching, and you are so gentle and firm with these magnificent birds. You are such a blessing for all these birds (even if they don't fully appreciate it at first lol)! Have a wonderful weekend! Dianna
Wonderful bird! So happy you rescued him. Amazing to see those talons up close, I understand better why when they grab a prey there's no way for it to escape.
Owls have a special place in my heart along with eagles. Loved seeing all the up close footage! Those mesmerizingly gorgeous eyes & hearing all their sounds. I had no idea they made a warning clicking sound like that. Great video!
You must have a wonderful wife!! Most women are deathly scared of birds of prey. She videos you and works with you . You are a lucky man! You should video her too! I admire her!!
I'm grateful that you rescued the poor thing. And great horned owls are truly amazing. Especially the 500lb crushing force they have with their feet. Terrifying to think that it could possibly crush a human skull if it wanted to. But still cute.
If you guys ever need any volunteers.. I would consider myself blessed to come out there and spend some time cleaning up the muck and just being able to be in the presence of those birds. I would offer my services freely ;-)
Boy I do love eagles but man do I love owls! They are so cute, even when they are trying to be scary XD Although I definitely wouldn't want one of those coming at me claws first!
OWLS are my favorite critter, besides flying foxes, but this baby he was letting you know, "Don't mess with me"....Good luck little owl and thank you Martin for helping all these wild critters.
Wow that was very very beautiful and I like to say thank you for doing your part and saving everyone needs a little creatures we need more people like you thank you🦉♥️

What a stunningly beautiful creature. I have this infinite love that affects my soul for owls horses and giraffes n i can not explain why but if i hear or see one that’s been hurt or killed it tears right into my soul n hurts fiercely. I love all animals but for unknown reasons these animals have my heart and soul. Beautiful man and woman u are. They must know u r their saviours. Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah I had a bird flying experience for my birthday this year. Spent the day as a living landing place and feeding different birds of prey and owls. Adopted a male European Eagle Owl called Amber because he was feisty 😇 He has the most amazing amber coloured eyes 🙂 He can also ‘shout’ 😂
I sponsor some GHOs at a local nature center in Michigan and they are something special. They stare right into your soul. The female usually hisses at me when I visit, but the male is a usually friendly imprint and we sometimes have a hooting conversation about 3 feet apart!

Such an amazing Great Horned Owl! His clicking sounds like an old Remington manual typewriter!
Old skool owl!
I love how Martin always calls out “Hey Scout!” when he passes Scout’s chamber. Their friendship is so special.
Scout has Martin well trained.
Many thanks for every thing you have done for these helpless wild life birds, you deserve the heaven..

One LUCKY owl owes Martin so much! And we all owe Martin so much, also!
Lots of people contributed to this owl's recovery!
And we all owe wildlife so much for their beauty and keeping our ecosystems heathy.
We can help Martin out. Maybe, the owl can pay his hospital bill by bringing rodents to the rescue shelter 😄
Martin you have made your mark on the world god bless !!!!!!!!!

The way he warns to get away from him is actually so cute it's absurd. What a cool bird
Whoever does the editing does an absolutely impeccable job.
Often less is more. Thanks for watching.

Great to hear! Not sure about anoher book just yet...
Big man is very gentle with his feathered guest.
Thank you for your interest. Martin has over 50 years experience working with critters.
For a moment, I thought it was a bird you threw like that at the end. Realized later it was a toy plane.
Beautiful. As always.
By the way. Just got your book. Thanks.
Hi Scarlet, thanks for watching and glad you received Martin's book! We hope you will enjoy the read!
Love how you free her at the end. You show kindness too
Thank you Anna-Rose, the release is the best part!

You are an inspiration to me... I love the way you talk to the birds, the love and respect is beautiful. I do have a question about owls... We live in North Central Oklahoma on a farm and have several types of owls.... There's a certain call they make that sounds like monkeys, is that a mating call? Or just communication? Always wondered.... 💜💜💜
The great horned owl is my first totem, so I'm always emotionally charged when I see them.
also, i plan on buying 2 copies of Martin's book later today, one for me and one for my uncle who loves eagles, and I think will get a real kick out of Scout's autograph lol I cant wait 😊❤
Sounds like a plan, thank you for your support!
Love your work and videos. Can you share about the soothing guitar music you use in the videos. Thanks for all you do.
Thanks for your interest. The music is by David Wright, from an album called "Americana".
what a cute chirp for such an angry, ferocious bird of prey. happy to see him so furious and eager to go back home though
back where he belongs...
ah those clicking sounds
Definitely a presence!
Vulture vomit. Fun for the whole family! I know you didn’t mean it to sound like that but I thought it was cute!
There is a lesson in vulture vomit!
"We're gonna get you a meal"
