  • Tamatave has a beach and beach road crowded with hundreds of small restaurants. Most early evenings you will see locals sitting in this area, eating and drinking. The beach is often crowded although it is not a swimming beach.

DOES ANY ONE THINKS OF THIS PLACE AS AFRICA OR ASIA?

A lot of people here look mixed Asian / African. Similar to Naomi Osaka the famous tennis player who is half Haitian- half Japanese. I realize Haiti is not in Africa but alot of Malagasy ladies have the same look as her.

Nice walking tour, never been there,, I just wonder if you ever got sick by eating food there,I mean what's the quality of food if you only go let's say to higher quality restaurants?

Madagascar is actually a great place for eating / restaurants. Especially if you like seafood as seafood is very cheap there. Many low cost restaurants with good food. I like Malagasy food and then you have some French restaurants which are also usually low cost and above average. Only time I have gotten sick was in the Philippines when I got a very painful case of food poisoning. Philippines is not the place to go for food, unless you like that Jolibee junk food garbage.

    Hey Paul,
What's the beach area like at night and what about the nightlife. Is it safe to walk at night or is it better to take a taxi. Thanks for your videos

seems very safe here at night. Nightlife is pretty good, there is a Taxi Be which is good every night it seems. Club Havana is a more upscale lounge in a hotel. Beach area is great, I spend an hour or 2 on the beach most days. Many vendors come bye but they are polite.....They have many tables, umbrellas and always people on the beach. Around 4pm they put hundreds of plastic table, chairs on the beach road and people are there drinking till about 8. After that you can take a short walk to restaurant El Barco / La Terrasse which is usually quite full with French expats and girls.

Is this a good place to spend a week in? How easy is it to visit other areas from here with great beaches etc.?

Yes I think it is. There is a place called Foulpointe 4 o5 5 hours bus ride north of here. I believe it has nice beaches may go there in a week or so.

Thanks for sharing this video. How long was the bus trip from Tana? Thx

As you found out in the other video was about 10 hours. Taking a bus to any other coastal city in Madagascar is going to be very long, better to take a flight if possible.
