this is how taylor swift SHOULD’VE charted if she actually had good PR! 😭 it’s not a fantasy chart history, but i can do one of those in the future! :)
@FROZEN 2 DISNEY i meaaaannn… katy perry could definitely be so much more successful if she had good PR on her music from witness to smile! 😭❤️ maybe i’ll do that video soon! 👀
@@cowboylikedinos fr like before Christmas it was at #15 2 ½ years after release. It has such a comforting aesthetic with it people just can't help but go back and listen to it
I love how you didnt overkill the charts here, its just right and definitely couldve been possible if Taylor was actually promoting them right and had the right singles chosen. Tho if Lover was that succesful I think Folklore and Evermore mightve not existed because she is probably busy promoting them singles
thank you! i definitely tried to keep it realistic and take into account other factors (such as christmas songs dominating the charts in december, etc.)! ☺️ i agree though, if lover was super successful, i don’t think folklore and evermore would exist!
I think that it’s less about her PR and more so that she stopped caring about album eras. If there’s one thing I’ll give Taylor credit for aside from her incredible songwriting is that she’s a smart business woman. She knows that since streaming took over, there’s not as much profitability in extended eras anymore for solidified artists compared to just pushing out one album after the next.
yeah, that’s true! this is just how i think she could’ve charted if she still cared about album eras & having multiple singles w/ good promotion! 🥰❤️ however, i think the streaming era still allows for albums to have extended eras! for example, dua lipa is STILL in her future nostalgia era which started in 2019, and it’s more successful now than ever! also, billie eilish was very successful with wwafawdwg, which also lasted a while and had multiple singles!
@@songspired I totally agree, but they weren’t necessarily established artists yet. Dua’s only mega hit (prior to “Future Nostalgia”) in the US was “New Rules” and even though songs like “Ocean Eyes” and “Lonely” definitely had started developing a following for Billie, she really didn’t solidify herself as an artist until “WWAFAWDWG” era. So, it makes more sense for artists like them and Doja Cat (etc.) to have these lengthier album cycles in hopes that more songs stick and they become more of a staple in the industry. Artists who are already solidified like Taylor, Beyonce, and Ariana focus on the albums themselves. Adele is able to take time because she knows that her albums will sell anyways. And Rihanna knows that she could wait until 2026 to drop her next album and it would be the best selling album of the decade in its first 24 hours lol
@@Nameless_mixes ohhh, that makes sense! if i’m being honest, it’s kind of sad how so many artists no longer have “eras” filled with multiple singles, music videos, performances, etc.! i think huge album cycles are super fun & they really make me excited and passionate about the album! i think that’s why 1989, teenage dream, 21, etc. are all so successful, because they create an album that has a very consistent theme to it, and they provide unforgettable music videos and performances to accompany them! but i totally agree about rihanna, haha!! i can’t wait for her next album! 🤪
@@songspired It is really sad. But that’s the reality of the streaming era. Since artists used to make money through digital sales on when songs first released, they’d be able to make an album, take some time off, promote it, and then move on. Now that they need to rely on people streaming the music instead of buying it on their first listen, they need to incentivize streaming. In doing so, they want to put out more albums so that people don’t get bored.
@@Nameless_mixes yes, i totally see what you mean! but at the same time, i think artists can still make a lot of money by having multiple singles! when an artist releases another single from the album, it is sent to radio, gets a music video, live performance, talk shows, etc.! all of this publicity causes more people to hear the song, and consequently buy & stream the song! i feel like streaming & purchasing music go hand-in-hand! like, currently GAYLE’s song “abcdefu” is killing it in streams AND sales! and when an artist has multiple popular singles from one album, it causes more people to buy the album! that’s why i think 1989, 21, divide, SOUR, future nostalgia, planet her, etc. have all done so incredibly well on the billboard 200! they had one major song, followed by another major song, followed by another major song, etc.! however, when artists release an album and don’t really promote it, it doesn’t really see as much longevity as if they had multiple singles following the release of the album!
i agree!! i definitely think if taylor chose better singles for rep & lover, those eras could be so much bigger and commercially successful! and yes!! i wish folklore, evermore & her re-recordings were given more promotion in general!!
lover singles were fine, she just needed 4 singles instead of 3 and better promo for YNTCD and Lover reputation shouldve had i did something bad instead of endgame
i definitely think “cruel summer” could go number one, but i’m not sure if “i did something bad” would! idsb is AMAZING, but taylor performed that song at a huge award show, and it didn’t boost that much in sales/streams! i think if she sent it to radio, it could reach top ten, but idk about number one!
