    Excellent fan and cabling tutorial. The RGB fans with 2-wires is a pain especially when you filled-up the case. My preference is to put the radiator on the top of the case with a push configuration and the front with pull configuration. I try to match up the number of fans in and out. So if I'm going to have one exhausting the rear then I'll add one at the very bottom pulling from the floor of the case. Yes, I've run tests and that's the most ideal if not for temperatures alone but for the amount of dust over months .. you only want to pull air in from areas that have filtering. You have to keep in mind that hot air rises and the coolest air is closest to the floor / bottom of the case.

    RGB/Fan cabling is most definitely one the most tedious and arduous thngs to deal with when building.
    In previous videos you have done regading wiring in general, I picked up on the routing of the HD Audio cable and started doing that myself.
    That helps with the main loom of wiring as pointed out, but also alleviates having the excess of that wire bunched up at the bottom, if routed the usual way.
    Great video explaining alot of the usual pains of dealing with this sort of things.

    I wish Corsair made those fan/rgb controllers magnetic. Silverstone has done that before. I just did a build recently using the same controller as in this video. I was thinking of epoxying some magnets but I just ended up using good old double sided tape. I totally agree that a mount to the 2.5" brackets would be great too. If only a screw hole/mount was there. Of course 3d printer owners have an opportunity there.

  • @MorDreadful

    The reason Corsair never designed the Commander pro to mount on the 2.5" SSD bays is because not every case has those and also because they include 3M double sided pads which the customer never used obviously and never gave you., also the extra room needed for plugging in the fan cables.
    I like to lay the fan cables flat to each other and face the cables the same way, normally keeping the pwm and rgb cables alternate by fans, laying flat against each other, then if bending them, cable tie them a bit slack so they can slide, put the bend in then tighten the ties to keep that bend there. Then towards the end I split the rgbs and pwms into two groups, keeping them laying neat and flat and run them to the various fan ports on the controller. Again, I do the same for the bend but make sure they slot in equally before tightening the ties. Any extra cable is moved to the middle and folded back on itself to keep things tidy, yes this can add time to the build but it looks better and more organised than just scrunching up the fan cables.
    Declassified Systems takes cable management to a whole other level.

    Got that case a few month ago for 50$ almost new from a guy that moved abroad for work, also got that fan
    gb hub, it's called Commander pro, been using it for years and I love it and the icue software.
    I don't like rgb so not using that part but for fan control it's probably the best software, yes I know about Fan control the free software and tried it, in some aspects it is better than icue but icue is much more user friendly and has the dashboard with all the sensors very conveniently arranged.
    You can control every fan individually for all the 6 connector but if you daisy chain a few fans on 1 connector icue will see it as 1 fan, I'm using 6 fans connected to individual connector so have individual control over all the fans, got custom curves on all fans, some tied to the CPU and others to the GPU, I don't use the 2 top fan spots and (got 1 fan right over the CPU cooler as auxiliary pulling fresh air in for the CPU but after testing I saw that it didn't make any difference in temps so turned it off, got 2 fans (only a 12" and 14" unlike your 18" Torrent fans) sitting on the power supply cover at an angle of about 30° cooling the GPU and with the fans on the GPU stopped the GPU temps are only 8-10c above ambient.
    Managed to stuff two 14" and one 12" in the front, 2 on the power supply and 1 at the top connected to the hub, the back fan doesn't do much anyway so connected to the mobo and set minimum RPM, the 2 CPU fans are connected to the mobo and set to custom curve.
    This is not my Ideal build but it's good enough for now.
    My ideal build was going to be the Fractal Torrent, I also love that case and was about to buy it when I saw a review of the Thermaltake CTE 750 and fell in love with that case, unfortunately it is still not available in my country and I'm not willing to pay 350$ to import it so compromised for the 4000d for now.
    The only rgb in my rig is the mobo post display showing the CPU temp and the Radeon logo on the GPU.

    And why does it blow to the label (the X that hold the middle of the fan)? Because if you obstructs the air in, it can't put out more than it get in. So, the suck in side should always be as big as possible. That is why you always blow through a radiator and not sucking.
    14:30 Yes it matter. Put your palm against the side the fan suck, and you will hear it spin up and that happens when it can't get enough of air. Same thing happens if you put the radiator against the fan. It can't suck enough air thought it.

    Cracking job as usual, Graham. One question: you mentioned a couple of times the extended time required for proper cable management. There are now fans which clip together, reducing cables from 6 to 2. Do they make sufficiently better sense to you as a system builder that they affect your recommendations and installation charge?
    Let's see you handle desktop cabling next! :)
    Two observations on the video:
    The front audio cable: more important than neatness, routing it around the board rather than across can reduce the electrical noise induced (depends upon the cable). Generally you wouldn't want it alongside the EPS cable but otherwise it gets interference from crossing the GPU and motherboard cables so it's swings and roundabouts and it's still better than going across the board.
    That fan / RGB controller: was there sufficient cable length to put in the unused bottom drive tray?

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  Год назад +1

    • @jamiepaget9466
      @jamiepaget9466 Год назад

      @@Adamant_IT It really is Graham. Because the QL variant has led's on both corona's and both hubs, you need a hub for three fans, and not six. So that is three Hubs. I have two hubs on one node, and one on the other. And that's just for the RGB. All nine fans have a separate PWM cable as you know, which all have to go to a separate PWM hub, and I have to admit, the first install attempt, was aborted, while I wondered "do I really want to do this"

    • @Adamant_IT
      @Adamant_IT  Год назад

      yea, that whole setup was a matter of "no corsair... find a better solution to this." Sata power connector is good for 75w, there's no way you need multiple modules to handle that power. One theory is to account for high fan counts like yours, where it might not be practical for all wires to conjoin in a single location, but eeeh... I'm sure there's a better way.
