After suffering a major loss when the old man had his magic suck out of his body scatter in the winds. I do believe those two get together in the end, married and had kids of their own.
The thing is, when Natsu tried to stop Rogue's shadow sword, had he been a few seconds earlier, he would have been the one to get pierced by it.. he cared for her so much, he would have been happy to take a bullet for her at any point 😢
