Are you sure Richard Michaels did not destroy two marriages? Why blame Elizabeth? It seems Bill Asher may have destroyed his own marriage if he was being unfaithful to her many times prior to her affair.

You really need to pay attention to your script - you mistook Elizabeth's name for Samantha when you mention that after Elizabeth started the affair with Richards - you said 'Richards & Samantha's marriages fell apart - it should be Richards & Elizabeth's marriages fell apart.
Both Elizabeth and William were to blame for their divorce. He hurt her and she hurt him.Neither party was innocent. Richard Michaels screwed up his own marriage (not sure how innocent his wife at the time was).

Can’t believe more people haven’t commented on this fact. Also what the heck is “ switch hitting?” Is it to do with the mysterious breakfast cereal that appeared half way through!?😜
Gig Young was an unstable, violent alcoholic who alienated everyone who ever knew him or worked with him. Just a truly awful man, but charismatic, like all classic narcissists. He was very charming when people first met him, but turned on them sooner or later. But Young was a very good actor and worked regularly, so I imagine Liz Montgomery married him hoping to hitch her star to his wagon. It didn't work, of course, because the only person who mattered to Gig Young was himself. I find it bizarre that Liz is blamed for breaking up two marriages. Seems to me that Bill Asher's multiple extramarital affairs broke her own marriage and Richard's infidelity broke his. It's not right to cheat on your spouse no matter what, but I can see why Liz did it if her own husband didn't value her.
Daniel Bradford, Do you not understand that Bill Asher didn't get the top billing/blame for the break up or Michael Richards because if their name was in the tagline, we wouldn't have clicked on the clip! Okay let me fix a few things for you...Elizabeth's first marriage faltered because her husband resented her desire to have a career (let's not blame the woman for wanting to work and succeed okay). Her second marriage failed because of abuse, age differences, et...not all of which was Elizabeth's fault...and it sounds like she tried for years to make it work (and her husband said their marriage was always superficial...not a loving thing to say, maybe Elizabeth wanted something more than a superficial relationship) and since her second husband went on to marry twice more and end up killing his last wife I think we can conclude that it was the old man goat that was primarily responsible for that failure. As to her marriage to the producer...you assert that the failure was due to Elizabeth's affair, only mentioning the fact that he had cheated repeatedly through their marriage as a side note. As though his infidelity was of no importance. I guess it only counts if the bad and wicked woman does it. At least in your view! This is one of the most slanted/woman hating pieces I've come across in a long time. Do better.
Now that you mention it.....yes it was actually absurd. Elizabeth had an affair while her husband was banging starlets two at time all along. Who's at fault, not Elizabeth.
@UCTuSeK96esWKcYoQFsahi4w I’ve checked numerous sources & find no mention of alcoholism on her part. Perhaps your thinking of husband Gig Young who was an alcoholic.
Robert Foxworth, who is still alive, has over 100 credits on IMDb. He was also a co-star on Falcon Crest for 6 seasons. You kinda make it sound like he did dinner theater in Scottsdale. (6:39)
It seems to me that Elizabeth's marriage wasn't much of a marriage since her husband had several affairs. Is it any wonder that she found someone else who she felt valued her?
@@dg-sl5jb It wasn't about getting back at her husband, what hurt her husband/his pride was the fact she fell in love with the other man (unlike him she wasn't just sleeping around with anything that was available).

Elizabeth Montgomery was loved by her four husbands. Even though she was still loved by BEWITCHED series producer/director William Asher, after their divorce he spoke lovingly about her in a documentary focused on the show. By the way her final marriage was to actor Robert Foxworth who had stayed by her side up to the day that she died from cancer.
@@maenolan2206 I am a fan of both Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York. I was not casting judgment on anyone, but I was merely stating a fact about what I had both seen and heard. Yes it was truly sad that she had a tiff with her father that neither had tried to reconcile with the other about.
Her husband Bill Asher admitted he had affairs with young starlets all thru the early part of Bewitched. That's what caused the breakdown of the marriage.
Robert Foxworth has said.that he thougt her father was jealous of Elizabeth, because he felt she was better known than he was. She was. A popular TV series seen weekly will do that.
Elizabeth Montgomery was a very, very pretty girl. Her beauty, and grace really enriched the show.Despite what happened behind the scenes, her sow'Bewitched'wa a very funny, and really entertaoining show.God bless her for doing that very fine, wonderful show.
Asher was having affairs also he's no angel. She gave him children & happiness & class which he certainly didn't have any. Gig young was a drunk & probably was cruel to her. A woman can only take so much a real man does not cheat on his wife who gave him children & works like a dog. There are men who expect a woman to be perfect & nothing I s ever enough for them.
The same parents who were cruel, cold, and unloving to their own children often become loving, supportive, and doting upon their children's children. This provides another stab in the heart to those "kids" who have to watch their own kids getting the love that they never received. And so the world turns...
It is quite painful to watch a scenario unfold- for me it was watching my parents dote on my niece and nephew in a way they never did with me but it made me confront my pain and seek therapy and finally heal
I fit the type of person you speak of . Still hurt mentally but recognize that is foolish & that pain is just a small part of my life . But my parents loved my children & were never abusive to them( believe me I watched that situation like a hawk prepared to never let them near my children if they did) BUT I WAS GLAD THEY GAVE MY KIDS A LOVING NATURAL RELATIONSHIP. I wanted my kids to have a good life & the fact that they had a good relationship with their grandparents meant they were blessed . They grew up to be exceptional loving to me. I am old now & it has come full circle . They watch ME like a hawk & step in to help me have wonderful golden years . I never expected or asked for that . Life is beautiful if you just give it time .
I can’t figure out how Elizabeth Montgomery had the time or the energy for an affair what with having three young children and working 18 hours a day as the star of a hit sitcom.
That's the reason people have affairs, it gives you superhuman strength to do all the things other people expect from you. Can't do it in a fairy tale relationship, those things aren't real.
I love her character Samantha in Bewitched. I didn't care much for the show when I was a kid I discovered it's delights when I was in my late teens. Sam's personality is pure gold. I bet she was every guys dream wife. Love every episode and I always will.🌃
She was gorgeous. As a 12 year old watching bewitched, the type of woman I dreamed I would one day marry, probably like a lot of young men of that era.
You were living a fantasy created by a TV show. Elizabeth Montgomery and Samantha Stevens are 2 different entities. The point of this video is to show that in real life Elizabeth may have been bewitching but she was far from the wholesome squeaky clean image she portrayed on TV. We dont know these people. We can live caught up in fantasy. Whats real is real. Fantasies are useless at the end of the day.
Bewitched was my mother’s favorite TV show. I have to admit that I thought Elizabeth Montgomery was a hottie when I was eight years old. My favorite character was Uncle Arthur. Paul Lynde was hilarious on Hollywood Squares also.
We're glad to know that your mom loves Bewitched! Also, thanks for sharing your favorite character. What other types of videos would you like to see on our channel?
I love the episodes when Serena and uncle Arthur were on. Absolutely hilarious. I have binge watching the series for the last 2 days. Still on season 1.
Boy you're living a fantasy. There is no eternal peace for anyone who passes from this life unforgiven and unrepentant. Unless Elizabeth repented of her adultery and received forgiveness there is no peace for her. You can ignore her sin all you want. Truth is that we must all repent or perish. Without Christ there is no eternal peace for anyone. Get real.
Gig Young was an Academy Award-winning actor (1969, Best Supporting Actor) with a dreadful mean streak. He treated Elizabeth terribly. Even Elvis hated his guts. Horrifying that despite his success, he murdered his 4th wife and killed himself.
Hollywood "success" often leaves people empty. All the glitz and glamour of that life is deceiving and fleeting. Some of these people are actually the most lonely unfulfilled people you'd ever meet.
I can only imagine the stress Ms Elizabeth was under during the filming of Bewitched, what she did is nobody's business. I never missed an episode of Bewitched, last year l bought the entire series of the show.
Robert Montgomery was a rabid right-winger while Elizabeth was extremely liberal, happy that Bewitched always used lessons of tolerance. She also was a vocal supporter of Dick Sargent when he came out of the closet. It's kind of an interesting rebuke of her father's principles.
Your bio of Elizabeth Montgomery sucked! You went on about 4 marriages and destroying 2 marriages. You said absolutely nothing about her last relationship except married 2 years. That relationship was the ONE! They were together 20 years!! She didn't want another divorce and refused him every time he proposed. She finally gave in and they had two married years but in reality were together happily for two decades!!! He remarried 5 years after her death and is still married to that woman.
It’s so ironic that after marrying a man her junior, she finally finds the “one” I was sorry when I heard she had died so young. Her character in Bewitched was a staple of my childhood TV.
Yes, I believe her father had everything to do with her many marriages . Especially the first one with him being so much older. It absolutely disgust me at every level and her father being jealous with daughter career, that is such a toxic parent. A good parent wants a better life than what they had and should be proud. He was such an arrogant asshole.
This is sad news. It is wrong to make a vow and not honour it all the way. I will always admire Elizabeth Montgomery and her work in television. May she rest in peace.
I agree but I thought that I would feel different after reading the title. Hearing he cheated on her several times before she did I feel for her. Although the biggest victim is the wife of the director and all the kids in the middle of everything. It’s a shame but like you said it doesn’t diminish Bewitch for me.
@@myrnapowell1637 While I tend to want to agree about the wife of the director being victim, we can't really know what was going on in that marriage either, so ultimately we can't pass that judgement.
@@Ely-jx5iy true it’s just an assumption she hadn’t cheated on him or abused her director husband. The video they did seemed throughly researched and I thought they would have mentioned more if there was circumstances in why he did stray. They didn’t elaborate on the other marriage to much. However the only thing that I know of any of their personal lives is this video so 🤷🏻♀️.
Her last relationship was with the same guy for two DECADES! She didn't want another divorce so refused every time he proposed. When she said yes they had 2 years but this guy conveniently neglected to mention the 18 years they had before that. Foxworth remarried 5 years after Elizabeth died and is still married to her that wife.
Well, I can say when you have someone you are married to cheating on you left and right it makes you feel UNLOVED and UNWANTED>> she was surely seeking affection more than anything. Had he been more faithful to her during the production of Bewitched, she would have been happy! I have always loved Elizabeth Montgomery and this doesn't change my opinion of her.
It's a sad fact that few people in show business have happy marriages or stay faithful. I don't know if it's the business itself that does something to them, or maybe people with troubled backgrounds or different moral standards are drawn to show business careers. Whatever the case, they seem to pay a price for their fame.
The relationship she had with her father sounds just the same as David Cassidy's - her father was jealous of her success just like Jack Cassidy was jealous of David's.
My mother’s always been jealous of me as a child & also my wonderfully productive adult life. Now I’m her caregiver & she’s still mean to me. However I feel I’m doing what’s right.
💁♀️She’s mean to me all day, every day. I’m debating whether to put her in a home after caring for her 4yrs. Is it time to get my life back? I’m at my wit’s end & really asking for advice from strangers!
@@marlahart2060 I found myself in the same position a few years ago. My Mother was very abusive and there was absolutely NO WAY I was having her in my home. So I became her Power of Attorney. I sold her house and liquidated all of her other assets to use for her benefit. I placed her in a really nice Assisted Living facility. All of this was fine with my siblings, as long as they didn't have to deal with her. She lived in the facility, which is only about 3 miles from my house until she died about 4 years later. I stopped in several times a week and I attended parties and other "family" functions at the facility. Over those years, we did some talking, and I actually got understanding about why she was the way she was. I was able to forgive. Doing the right thing, as you said, actually benefited me in the end.
This video is a bit one-sided. Liz's first husband was against her desire to begin a career of her on, a desire she'd had since a little girl. He wanted her to be a housewife. Well, that didn't go over well with Elizabeth. Her father warned her about Young. He was an alcoholic and could be abusive. She had to get away from him. I've read that Presley had to step in on KID GALAHAD, while she was visiting the set, because of Young's temper. As i said, this video is a bit one-sided. According to what Bill Asher told Herbie Pilato, Liz's biographer, he admitted to having a wandering eye. Asher was also married four times. I've read that he cheated on her. Interesting how Lucille Ball and Desni Arnez's marriage had similar issues. Arnez was alcoholic and cheated on her more than once. I've seen a video on them and thought, that figures. It's stuff like this that caused Liz to shun the Hollywood scene and press, and the press in general, for years. It's also why she tried to protect her kids from the Hollywood scene. Her daughter is a director in the business. To wrap this up. The one thing that she and Asher did was to stay close in order to raise their kids. Her son William has said, years ago, that his parents handled the divorce in an amicable way for their children's sake. I think they kept it out of the press, as well. Finally. I hate the tabloid press one finds at the checkout in stores. People have a voyeuristic need to know about the private lives of those in Hollywood and other public venues. I also don't like tell all books. I'm a fan of Elizabeth Montgomery's, and have been for years. So while reading about her career, one runs into stuff that is personal. A person's personal life is just that, personal. Today, with social media, some celebrities love splashing their lives all over the net. That wasn't Elizabeth Montgomery. BTW. I can count on one hand of actors/actresses that I like or a fan of. Liz is one, because of who she was as a person, smart, funny, kind, and a big heart. She just wanted to be thought of as just regular folk.
Well, ‘Facts Verse’ puts all the blame on her for destroying marriages, since apparently the men involved were helpless. I think ‘Facts Verse’ is run by evangelical goddamn christians.
I am reading the biography of Sally Field and she and Elizabeth became friends on the Screen Gems lot. Sally said Elizabeth was always smiling and friendly to her. They shared a dressing room, along with Barbara Eden. Sally said Barbara would sing all the time. She never mentioned a friendship.with. Barbara, just Elizabeth. She said Elizabeth was a very sweet woman.
I can't see Elizabeth having an affair with anyone since she had children to raise and worked long hours. I think that Elizabeth just had very bad luck with love. May she rest in peace. She was beautiful
Thank God she divorced Gig Young, it probably saved her life. I saw Gig Young in Teacher's Pet, he seemed like such an affable guy. Great acting on his part!
Pretty rough treatment of decorated WWII hero Robert Montgomery. How the hell do you know he was “jealous” of Elizabeth’s success and blamed her for an event that occurred before she was born? The saddest part of the Bewitched story is poor, ailing Dick York’s unrequited love for Elizabeth. She couldn’t stand him, and was instrumental in replacing the talented York with bland, unfunny Dick Sargent. Elizabeth remained as funny and beautiful as ever but the chemistry disappeared-and the show never recovered.
Agreed!! There were no residuals to help Dick York through his ailing final years despite his outstanding performance in the role. It’s been said that Agnes Moorhead really liked him. And Dick Sargent did not inspire the part what so ever.
Montgomery's dislike of York in season 3 (allegedly due to his crush in then-producer William Froug's view; although York did have feelings for her, he stayed happily married to his wife until the day he died, and I think Montgomery's dislike of him had more to do with York's health problems and missing shows) wasn't what led to his departure at all, since William Asher (her husband and the director/producer) wanted to keep him, and did until York's hospitalization in season 5 where he just couldn't do it anymore.

people should ask if she ever cheated on Robert Foxworth. I suspect she didn't and there is a reason she didn't. maybe Foxworth treated her better then ALL her other husbands. don't get me wrong, she was damaged no question but there were reasons she did what she did. (I think her character Serina was closer to her actual real life character then Samantha.)
@@arnoldnellis6120 According to biographer Herbie J. Pilato, technically Montgomery cheated on Foxworth too with Alexander Godunov. But: who knows what went on behind the scenes. Her work brought joy to so many, and that has lasted through the years.
It's a shame about Bill Asher, he was honest enough to admt that the problems he and Elizabeth Montgomery had were down to him and sad that he didn't stop himself from doing the damage he did to his marriage - it makes no sense that he had múltiple affairs but was still in love with her but she had one specific affair and fell in love with the other man, which Bill Asher couldn't handle, after the many times he hurt and disrespected her as his wife and the mother of his children.
No I did not know Elizabeth Montgomery was married that many times but I do believe it was her father's fault the reason why she turned to older man because her father was so cold to her because she got more Fame became more famous than he did you not supposed to be jealous of your child you supposed to encourage your child and spend time with your child and support your child no matter what you might think of that decision.
No I didn't know she was married 4 times! I did know she divorced Bill Asher after the run of BEWITCHED though.I know she and Robert Foxworth lived together for the majority of their relationship until right before her death when they got married!.( Why don't you mention Robert Foxworth's name in this video when you mentioned the other 3 men in her life? Found that very strange!! Was that on purpose?)
I'm sorry to give Facts Verse so negative a post, but even if you know nothing at all about this actress, the material you hear here is questionable. At the very least, it tries to slant the blame towards Montgomery ... only to mention that one of her ex-husbands kills himself and his new wife. *And* it's with a "man" named Kim Schmidt. Ahem ... what?! I suppose you could argue that the video was *purposely* inaccurate, as it was written that way to complement people's intelligence ... to insinuate that the one-sided argument often doesn't hold water. The thing is, for a video series like this one, it just doesn't work. It's better suited to entries where fictionalized content is more appropriate. It needs to stay out a documentaries.
The misogyny of this piece is appalling. The men Montgomery had the alleged affairs with are given no responsibility at all. This video should be deleted.
She was born to a Hollywood star and lived the life of a Hollywood actress. Four marriages isn't that unusual for that lifestyle. Too bad she died rather young She is missed.
No I didn't know before this video that Elizaneth had this many or few Marriages but I did learn from A&E Biography that Dick Sargent was originally up for the part of Darrin but was unavailable and so that's how Dick York got the part and then as fate would have it Dick Sargent would get to succeed Dick York when he fell ill on the set and had to be removed on either a stretcher or a rolling bed. Also after a time when there was no Darrin on the show and during this time was said to be on a business trip they couldn't keep this up and not be true to the Witch Wife and Mortal Husband premise and so once dick Sargent got to be available he would come to the show upon being available and for the last 3 seasons and one to follow would be turned down by Elizabeth to take time off from acting and move in with a man.Btw it was also interesting to find out that Elizabeth's Mother is also Elizabeth.

Do better.

The same parents who were cruel, cold, and unloving to their own children often become loving, supportive, and doting upon their children's children. This provides another stab in the heart to those "kids" who have to watch their own kids getting the love that they never received. And so the world turns...

Robert Montgomery was a rabid right-winger while Elizabeth was extremely liberal, happy that Bewitched always used lessons of tolerance. She also was a vocal supporter of Dick Sargent when he came out of the closet. It's kind of an interesting rebuke of her father's principles.

Seems to me the husband's she married were more to blame than she was. Good for her for trying to find her center. May she RIP

Dear precious one, please repeat after me with your whole heart, "Father God, I'm a sinner and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe in the Good News that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and that You resurrected Him from the dead in order to restore my relationship with You. Through my belief and faith in Jesus death, burial and resurrection, I am saved.
I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward. Please guide my life and help me do Your will, Your way through the Holy Spirit. This I pray in the powerful, loving and glorious name of Your Son, Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. Amen!" 🙏
Dear friend, may Father God our Creator, through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior bless you, lead you, guide you and keep you in His abundantly loving care now and for all eternity! Amen! ❤️🙏❤️
Well it could have been worse…..what if Dick York had fallen in love with Dick Sargent. That could actually make for a hysterical tv series….and think how jealous Paul Lynde would have been😂
This is a horrible hit job on Elizabeth. As pointed out by another commenter. Brings to mind the song by Don Henley (Dirty Laundry). I wish they still showed the dislikes.
I knew Elizabeth had had several marriages under her belt, but didn't know she'd been unfaithful. While I do not condone her behavior (or Asher's), it just confirms that nobody is perfect.
especially in Hollywood. everything goes - and does!
@5:45 compared to the guy she is having the affair with (Richard), Bill Asher looks like he could be her father! Asher is an old man for crying out loud. Why was she even with him?
William Asher was a powerful man in Hollywood. Not only did he produced Bewitched, William Asher also produced and directed the Beach party movies with Frankie Avalon and Annette funicello. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Dick York had a serious crush on Elizabeth who could blame him? As a 12 year old in 1965 I loved her too
Could this commentary be more misogynistic? You sure give a bill Asher a pass for multiple affairs. And the man with whom she had an affair.
Her dad left the family while Elizabeth was very young, for another woman.
It doesn't matter much anymore
Gig Young’s fourth wife . . . “ was a man named Kim Schmidt” ??
I don't believe this post. Plus it's evil to post after someone has died. You should always be able to defend yourself.
The real scandal here is that Gig Young was a homosexual. Most readers did not find it sad and scandalous. Perhaps this is why he treated her so shabby. Jesus is Love
I never knew about her personal life.all I know is I love the show 💖
Most of the people involved with this are dead or old and I don't think her kids care anymore. So why rehash this crap?
I didn’t know about her many marriages. I was also disappointed to hear she didn’t get along well with Dick York. It was said he had a thing for her as well but she didn’t really care for him
As is fairly typical, this site does tell untruths. I'll stop short of saying they're deliberate lies. Everyone loved Dick York. It was his successor Dick Sergeant whom everyone despised. York was married to his college sweetheart, and the marriage ended when he died.
@@efandmk3382 What was untruth about this? I've heard from several sources that Dick York had a thing for Elizabeth and that she didn't care for him all that much. I find it hard to believe, too, but it's been reported more than once. Agnes Moorehead loved York but couldn't stand Sargent. My feelings were the same.
Elizabeth Montgomery wanted Dick York off the show. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
First Darrin and Sam were great chemistry. Darrin two was awful.
Dick York was in love with her but nothing happened
I wasn't there so I don't judge her. But I do judge the writer of the headline as a jagoff.
This is just another misogynist blaming the woman for the affairs It takes TWO to have an affair you can’t blame only one the woman in this case
LOVE, LOVE, L-0-V-E- SAMANTHA! This is my ALL-TIME favorite show...next in line is I Dream of Jeannie! I want to learn how to sew and make all of Sam's clothes and lingerie! Sooooo feminine!
We're happy to know that you love Samantha! Which episode of Bewitched is your favorite?
I was 15 when the first show aired. It was love at first sight for me. I did not know that she got around that much, but there is part of me that will always love her. We are flawed and have made many mistakes. All I can say is RIP my Angel.
Who cares how many times she has been married,,no one's business except to those involved..you don't hear anyone rubbishing Elizabeth Taylor for her multi marriages..
All that news surprised me
I never would have figured she was that way
Kinda makes me sad
I can't believe she married Asher EEEEEEEEEOOOOO
Magic spoon??? It judt looks and sounds gmo
