    What was the water depth at 13:40? Your videos show how great Tampa Bay fishing is compared to where I fish in NE Fl. I have to go out 10 to 20+ miles to find the same fish.

    Great video, you're a hell of an instructor. I'll be in the market for a new net. Can you share some details on those Talons? A link to sizes and pricing would be great. I ran a quick google search but found only a little article about the maker.

      Actually these nets are different than the old Talon cast net as they went out of business and the name was available. Here is a link to the website with a description. Thanks for watching! www.tampabayfishingchannel.com/product-page/talon-cast-nets-10-1-4-mesh-1-5

    • @TampaBayFishingChannel

      Look in 30-40’ of water. Look for big schools on the depth finder and that will be them. Good luck.

    I know live white bait works best when the snook bite is tough but why not throw some sort of soft plastic swimbait or fluke if they are eating on a slow reel?

  • @JoeWilliams-tf1nu
    @JoeWilliams-tf1nu 4 года назад

    What are the advantages of a 1/4” net vs 3/8” net other than not having smaller white bait getting stuck in it? I’m running a smaller boat and an 8’ would probably be the largest net I would need. Definitely interested in the Talon.

    • @TampaBayFishingChannel
      @TampaBayFishingChannel  4 года назад +1

      I throw the 10' 1/4" 1.3# net for a few reasons. One is I am getting old and it is easier to throw, the bait is so skiddish right now and have been this entire year because the amount of people attempting to catch it that when you throw a heavier net in deeper water the bait will scatter. The heavier net will sink past them before they come back into the chum where the lighter net will sink slower and allow the bait to come back into the chum and be caught by the net. Hope this helps!

    Thanks again for another great bait catching seminar. You should school Chad not to eclipse the net during the retrieval "money shot". COME ON CHAD!! Couple of questions. How long is the lanyard of your cast net? How deep do you let it sink before retrieving it? And, do you find that having the head of your trolling motor beyond your rub rail causes problems when docking or entering or departing your lift?

    • @TampaBayFishingChannel
      @TampaBayFishingChannel  4 года назад +1

      It depends on how hard the tide is running if I need to add more line to retrieve the cast net. The Talon Cast Net has 32' of line. Sometimes I have to add to it to get the net to the bottom and yes I like the net to get to the bottom. Typically no problems as the motor sits just inside the boat. We put it in the up position when we are rocking at the skyway.

    Awesome video and information. Thank you. How long do you chum for? Until the bait comes up?

    • @TampaBayFishingChannel
      @TampaBayFishingChannel  4 года назад +1

      We typically chum until we are done catching bait. The chum keeps them in the area.
