    I’ve been waiting for this video. It was great. Would be happy to watch even a longer one as well. This was an interesting delicate surgery. I did not know you could put much torsion on the cord. Thanks again.

    I have a cyst in the spinal chord C2 that is almost the size of the chord. I will have it removed via microsurgery hopefully next week. After watching this video I have realized how delicate and precise the sergeon must be. I hope that my surgery will go same well, so I can keep playing piano and teach💜🙏

    All I can say is - wow, I enjoyed this video so much. The level of detail you covered in only 5 minutes was astounding, and each of the steps were easy to follow unlike other POV surgical videos. Awesome as always Dr. R.

    This was absolutely wonderful to see. As an evidence-based DC, I’ve spent nearly a decade studying the spinal cord, and dissecting it in many cadavers. But to this day, nothing is more impressive and truly bewildering to me than spinal cord surgery on the living patient. Thank you for this video series and walking us through some of what you do!

    • @Luke-bq7sd
      @Luke-bq7sd Год назад

      it's so incredibly different on a cadaver, i hade the same feeling of bewilderment the first time i saw it. I study chiropractic medicine in Australia, where it is streamlined at universities with clinical and medical science courses. Because of this, my classes are often taught by medical doctor's, specifically some of my anatomy and physiology. I still remember being in my cadaver lab while my professor (an ex-surgeon) walked us through video footage of a surgery on the spine of a living person much like this. I found it very hard to believe it was the same as the spine of the cadaver i had in front of me.

      There are definitely options, both surgical and nonsurgical. I’d definitely recommend you see a pain specialist, and potentially a neurosurgeon with expertise in pain procedures. Thank you for your feedback! I’ve treated many patients with spinal cord injuries, I admire your strength and courage. I wish you the best and hope you get relief soon!

    Awesome procedure. Does this require a lumbar drain? And what about mobility limitation post-op, like strict bedrest for a period of time? Thanks!

    • @RoyRahebKhelo
      @RoyRahebKhelo 2 года назад +1

      The Dr may probably correct me on this, but when I witnessed a lumbar discectomy done by an orthopedic surgeon the dura was cut and that necessitated 3 days of strict bedrest. I’m guessing since this surgery involved cutting the dura then 3 days may apply but I’m nog sure if the same applies for the cervical area.

    waaaauuuuwww…. This goes so well with part I of your videos. I could see IRL what you had drawn for us before. It was more interesting than icky :D Do I have it correct that there are two people operating on the same spot? I saw three instruments working together and you mentioned a "table fellow" (?). Beautiful coordination between all the people in the operating theatre. Amazing how you manipulate anatomy without causing damage.

    Hello Dr Rutkowski,
    As a practicing academic neurosurgeon, do you believe that prospective applicants need to take a research year in order to be competitive for neurosurgery? Or do you believe that it’s possible to have quality publications in just 4 years? Say a candidate has numerous quality publications but no research year. Would the candidate still be considered as competitive for neurosurgery even though he/she didn’t take a dedicated research year ? (assuming the person has stellar step scores and letters of recommendation)
