Thank you Paul. I too am not religious (in fact I guess you can call me an atheist), but I agree with you, that, despite that, I love to appreciate the buildings that churches are, and find them so beautiful. I’m a part time reader due to worsening eyesight, but I’ve read the Alice books, and I feel they’re worth a try if you get the chance. I’m a big fan of “the old favourites” or the “classics “, much like Carroll, and the likes of Mervyn Peake’s Gormenghast trilogy, Roald Dahl, Beatrix Potter, etc, but my favourite by far is JRR Tolkien. Even now, as a woman in my 40s, I still love the books I read as a kid. Give me a classic any day!

    Nice presentation 👍
At first, Lewis Carrolls photo, looked like Oscar Wilde.
Not a great fan of fantasy but I think the characters he created in Alice, have stood the test of time brilliantly.

Love Lewis Carroll’s’ works, used to read ‘Through The Looking-Glass’ all the time as a kid. He was a brilliant writer, and extremely witty too. The Jabberwocky being a prime example.

Fantastic that you've paid your respects to Charles Ludwig Dodgson . One of his poems starts with Alice Plesance Liddels ( the real Alice )name letters at the start of each line ,thus spelling her name Alice's parents had a holiday home in llandudno called Penmorfa built in 1862 .
This much added onto property was unfortunately demolished in 2008 a tragedy ,should of been listed. I've been in Prior to demolition stood were Alice's bedroom was ,touched bannisters she touched . It was never proved Lewis Carrol visited the house this might of saved it
    All the best Steve .

    Ooh how exciting.
I am almost better now. Thank you for your previous get well wishes. How kind.
I use to live in Guildford. Lewis Carroll had a house down the road which I’m almost positive was marked with a blue plaque and there were various references to Alice in Wonderland all around Guildford.
I wait in anticipation for this one. 😀

As a Member of the Lewis Carroll Society of BOTH the UK and America, i can Say "Well Done!" He spend His last Days of 1897 at His Sisters Home, the "Chestnuts." Unfortunately, since It is a Rental, NO Longer has the Blue Plaque on the Gate. "Thy Will be Done" are His last Words as Dodgson was Dying of Influenza. " One of the Talents entrusted Me to occupy with until the Master shall return, by doing something to make OTHERS LIVES HAPPY."

I used to live in Guildford so I have been up there a couple of times. His sisters are buried in that cemetery too though I can't exactly remember where, not too far from him but more in the main area. And his sister's house is near the castle in the centre of Guildford. There are also two sculptures in town that are based on Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass.

As a kid over 60 years ago i loved the book and was in a play in the "Looking Glass" segment. I only got a small role with one line as the "Gentle Voice" in the train-riding scene. I was the age Alice is supposed to be, 7-1/2, was an understudy for the starring role, and memorized all her lines. I looked like the fictional character with long blonde hair, while the girl who played her looked like the real girl with short dark hair.

I live very near Llandudno where he took the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland. Dotted around the town are statues of charachters fromthe story. I did see the ruins of the actual Alice's house (yes she was based on a real girl daughter of a friend of the family) but the ruins recently demolished. So because of this sort of local connection found this very interesting and you narrate all your videos well and we appreciate your research . XoX

Lewis Carroll also went to Rugby School between 1846-49. And I think Lewis etched his full name or initials somewhere on the grounds ? You can tour Rugby School during summer holidays. And it's had a fare share of famous people who've studied here over the centuries. William Webb Ellis 🏉 Rupert Brooke 📚
