Awesome Sarah! Great running I only started running this year. 1st parkrun In Jan was 35:39. My target was to get sub 25. I managed it in September with 24:57! I’m so proud of myself. Love running. Love parkrun ❤️ follow you on Strava Ben, your videos inspire me to improve, thank you.
Was amazing to watch Eliud on Saturday I watched it all live until my tv stopped 15 seconds to the end, doh but I knew he’d make and seeing him cross that line (when the tv came back) was phenomenal. Like you said and Eliud said the run wasn’t about him it was about showing no human is limited and we can all achieve great things, it’s certainly inspired me in my training to find out what is possible. Runs like this do wonders for the sport. People all over and non runners have been constantly talking about it and that’s what it’s all about inspiring the next generation. Even my 2 year old has seen it. Great vid and congrats on your PB Sarah
Massive congrats to Sarah for her PR....That Was a fantastic parkrun training race..👍🙌👏...and thank you Ben for allowing us to be part throughout your videos for this amazing experience...you are by far my favorite channel on RUclips and one of my top favorites Strava ppl I follow.thank you Ben Parkes 🙏🙏🙏
I Love the way you run and chat normally!!! Eliud Kipchoge was absolutely amazing. Great achievement. Ben parkes in my opinion is my running hero!!!!!!
Another great vlog Ben! Loved to hear how positive you are about 1:59. Completely agree with everything you said - I've had friends and family with no interest in running talk about it, which is wonderful and surreal. Big congrats to Sarah too!
Felt very inspired by Kipchoge. Set an ambitious goal of 38 minutes in a 10K on Sunday. (I’ve been marathon training for 9 weeks and so have my highest fitness ever, but my previous PR was just under 40 minutes and this was a much tougher course.) I was elated when I finished in 37:30!
Congrats to Sarah. Towards the end of my easy run today I did some short sprints/strides. I felt like I was running really rather fast. My watch says my maximum pace was 3:11/km. It’s incredible to me that, if I could somehow sustain that pace, it would be good enough for a 2:14 marathon, i.e. what Brigid Kosgei ran in Chicago.
Thanks James, yeah we love strides, so important for fast running and good running form! also just really puts in into perspective how quick these athletes are!
Great Run Sarah 👍...Very happy you did your PB under 20mins. Also thanks for showing out the Shake preparation video after the run. Thanks for all the videos Ben. You inspire me a Lot and you are my Running coach. You provide the actual video content that helps me grow and push my best runs. Ran my first 5k @ 33:00mins 3months ago. Did Park run last week 5k @ 27:40 PB. Registered for Half Marathon on May2nd @Cincinnati. I will need all your videos and Inspiration to get there. Doing my Easy run, Long Run and Park run every week as you said and going to Crossfit 3 days a week to gain the strength. Hope i will continue this dedication until May and achieve my first half marathon. Thank you again. This is my first reply to your videos but have been following since couple of months.
Congratulations Sarah. Well done. Also love Kipchoge and the good energy he brings to running. It is really inspiring when there is so much grim news in the world. Great video. The food makes me very hungry.
Well done Sarah....showing Ben how to get a new PB done :). Loved Eliud’s 1:59, then Brigid Kosgei ...it was an amazing sunday....at the end of the day, he ran it...on his feet....in one go.. a real roger bannister moment, however you define the word “class” eliud kipchoge showed it in the what, how and why he did it. Even more amazing, what pressure - a staged event, the worlds attention, peaking perfectly, showing up and then nailing a first for humanity ....to order. Wow. A day to celebrate. Awesome, period.
You both are give so much inspiration to run and get better! Congratulations for your pb Sarah!! I started to run after a injury in my ankel I had for 3 years. I did my first race ever the 30th of September 2019 (10km). I was so tired after that race that I ended in 1:03:30. After that I have made 2 more 10km and also 2 half marathons. The 31st of December I finish a race of 10km on 53.53 and 12th of januari I did a half marathon (sitges, Spain) in 1:54:25. Now I gonna run my first marathon in Barcelona 15th of March. I gonna keep watching your videos to get more tips and inspiration. And I love the videos of food. I've been vegan for 3 years. Regards from Sandra in Barcelona
Congratulations to Sarah on her PB and nice pacing support by you .. the INEOS 1.59 was indeed a great inspirational event .. myself (hobby runner) and my 10 year old son (who aims to start running 5 and 10K in couple of years) were hooked to the live stream on RUclips while going through some weekend family work .. it has inspired us a lot and especially Kipchoge's humble attitude and holistic attitude towards this sports .. coming back to you.. if I get a PB at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2020, you are going to be one of the key contributors to the success 😃
Congratulations Sarah! It was a brilliant weekend of running for me. I took the Kipchogue thing as an experiment - to see , under controlled conditions if it could be done. A lot of people complained about the shoes, pacers etc and then suggested he might not be a clean athlete but I enjoyed it. The coverage was great and overall it was a positive thing. On Sunday I smashed my 1/2M PB by 4 mins (1hr27m49) and I was made up with it. I was hoping to just go sub 90mins but did better than I expected. I heard someone recently say "Go all in and see where it takes you" I am really glad I went for it and got the rewards. It's given me a real confidence boost for the Valencia training/race.
Love your videos. Got 2 marathons and a 114k ultra in the next 2 months that im training for and trying to get inspiration from everywhere. You never disappoint :)
I really appreciate your honesty and positivity Ben. I love watching your videos they make me truly happy and inspired :) CONGRATS TO SARAH for runing 19:40 that is such a breathtaking time! WOW! Also lets not forget 10:40..my cat are doing the same thing right now + the other 24 hours of the day but never mind that haha. I loved the Eliud 1:59 challenge and watched it the whole way through. My family isn't interested in running at all but when I got them to sit down and watch it they ended up cheering so much in the last kms anyways, it was great. Yes he had those shoes, yes he had pacers helping him and yes it's not an official world record but the way everyone came together and supported him really showed a positive light for the sport and community. I loved it and it almost inspired me as much as Ben Parkes :D
Absolutely loved your acceleration at the end of the Parkrun and the look on the faces of the people you passed. Haha Started running around 6 months ago. First ever 5km was around 39mins. Been training a lot and now it's 27:30. Feeling stoked. Sub-25 in 2020 hopefully.
Congrats for Sarah! Unfortunately, couldn`t find her on Strava for gaving kudos. Great vlog, Ben) And I`really agree with your thoughts about 1:59 chalenge.
Congrats Sarah for smashing your PB😊 Have done a park run before but we call it in our place fun run. I’m done with my WK08 of my Garmin 10km Training Plan. Aiming for a sub40. Thanks for sharing your tips again mate😊
i loved seeing the 1:59 by Eliud K. People tend to forget that this didn't take 2 hours. Kipchoge won his first world title at 18 in 2003! This Marathon time is a lifetime in the making. An extraordinary talent that just has to be admired. I'm not sure if he will choose to do the Olympics next year or go for a fast time. I think he could get pretty close to breaking 2 in good conditions in London or more likely Berlin.
One of my favourite videos of yours...loved the morale-boosting 5k PB, the recipes, and books! (I mined your bookstack for title suggestions...now have about 5 more must-reads on my list!)
Well done Sarah, excellent result that!! Great videos Ben, so encouraging and enthusiastic, it's great. The sub 2 was so awesome:) that pace, wow. Mines 17.40.
Hi Ben watching your videos has been a great motivation and its got me back out running and i ran a sub 21 minute parkrun so I want to thank you! P.s big well done to sarah on her park run too!
Another great vid Ben! Absolutely well done Sarah on a great new pb! 👏🏼 As for the 1:59 achieved by Kipchoge, yes the stage was set for him, yes it benefitted him to have pacers there, yes he may have ran in trainers that perform better than any others, nevertheless it was an incredible feat! Won’t be long until the sub 2 happens in a legitimate race. Looking forward to seeing how long you can keep that 2:50/ 4:34 pace for. 😳😂
started running about 3 years ago trained enough to do my local parkrun then started having knee issues, so stayed riding bikes, but looking to get back into it now, looking to train a bit more smart. been enjoying your catalogue of videos, they've been getting me all inspired. although i prefer offroad running to onroad.
I’m trying to get sub 21, super hot in Australia at the moment so quite difficult to push beyond limits but when winter rolls around I am hoping to get sub 20.
I'm new to the channrl and I was about to ask what was the difference between a race and a parkrun, but thanks god you've explained it! Well done Sarah! Keep training hard!! I really like your videos Ben!💪
Completely agree with you Ben - fabulous event for running. Hoping to see Eliud & Bekele at Berlin Marathon next year for my first international marathon 🤞🤞🤞
Great Vlogs Ben. Looking forward to hearing about your Frankfurt marathon adventure but not before I complete my first Dublin city Marathon on the 27th October also!
Well done Sarah! I really enjoyed the 1:59 marathon, I was watching from near the finish line with the Kenyan cheering squad. Who cares what he was wearing? it was super impressive and will encourage others to push harder
Fair play to her. 22:30 is my PB and 20 minute 5k is my goal to get to at some point. Hullavington half marathon for me this Sunday and hoping to run a Pb. Thanks for the videos I have taken a lot from them.
My PB is 17.21. This is only 2 months after training with a club for 2 months. Hopefully sub 17 by Christmas. And a lot quicker in 2020. Amazing time from Sarah I knew it was hard for me to break that barrier. Chasing you down
Well Done Sarah on the PB! Try coconut oil instead of butter on the Avo Toast it makes an amazing difference. Keep up the great work and good luck in Frankfurt!
Well done Sarah - amazing run! Current PB for me is 20:54, you and Ben have inspired me to go for that sub 20 min run! Cheers guys, great all round vid :)
Well done Sarah on the Park run! I don't get all the haters on Kipchoge's 1:59:40...The point was to prove that it's possible...Thought it was hugely emotional and inspirational...And huge kudos to all the pacemakers behind it; thought they did a phenomenal job... It's the sort of historic moment you get once in a lifetime...I wasn't alive for Roger Bannister's 4min mile; this was the modern day equivalent of it...
Great Post and well done on the sub 20! I'm trying for sub 20 too, but currently at 21.17 so still a bit of work to do. Have stepped up training though and started doing intervals. I often think my build prevents me going very fast though. I would say I'm lean, but tall and heavy boned (used to play 2nd row) which I think slows me down. Thought the sub 2hours was a fantastic achievement, though would still like to see a sub 2hour in a marathon, would be great!
Thanks Jonathan, you'll get there eventually. A good solid mileage base plus a regular interval session and I'm sure you'll see your time start to come down in no time
Has Ben got a sub 20 5k plan? Like an 8 week schedule? I used to do 18 mins 5k but that was a while back.. I’m a bit older now but would dearly like to prove I can still do a good time again 😊
My PB is 18:43, don't do it that often as tend to run longer, want to break into 17 mins soon though. Well done Sarah I remember breaking 20 min 5k and I was super happy
Great vid, congratulations Sarah! Wondering if you have any suggestions for training with my son in his running chair that would be awesome. We did our first marathon last month and have been training for our next one this month. I push my son in a Hoyt running chair and he loves it. Thanks for any advice.
Thank you Brent. I've never actually run with anything like that so can't really give any advice, but you seem to be doing a great job, congratulations on the marathon, that's awesome!
Have you seen "The Game Changers" documentary, Ben? It came out about two months ago and has just been released on Netflix too. It's about nutrition and athletics, very impressive! Would love your thoughts or a video on it.
Congrats Sarah, excellent improvement! I also aim for a sub 20, but first concentrate on Frankfurt Marathon. Kipchoge´s run was awesome, but Bekele´s run in Berlin was in my opinion worth the same, considering the conditions und pacemakers.
Congrats to Sarah for your PB. Regarding the shoes: I agree, they need to setup some rules here. We've seen the same thing happen in swimming several years ago. At the end they've forbidden the swimming suits in 2010 when more and more records were just broken because of better and better suits rather than the athletes becoming stronger.
Do you take gels or any sort of hydration in these kind of runs? I do on runs longer than 20 km (~12.5 mi) but wondering if I shouldn't. Also congrats to Sarah, 19:40 is a great time!!
Only take gels when I’m running for more than 90 mins easy, or will use them in a session like intervals etc. Rarely have liquids unless it’s hot, or running over 2 hours. That is a bit of an exception though. Try different things and see what works for you.. we’re all a little different 🙂
Haven’t done a Parkrun since 13 April and my PB is 32:04, but would love to get it down to sub 30. I have also signed up for the Winter Run 10K which takes place in London in February next year, so need to get my arse in gear..... I think the sub 2hr marathon was brilliant, it shows that it can be done under control circumstances, but the challenge is to achieve it under proper marathon racing conditions but that will be for the next generation of runners to achieve. With regards to trainers, it is like the Speedo swimsuits that were ultimately banned as all swimmers sponsored by Speedo won, Will the same thing happen with all the Nike sponsored athletes with this new trainer but then it just means that al the sponsors and trainer makers will have to up their game and create similar or better technology, but the question that has to be asked how technology is too much?
My PB for parkrun is 24:50 but I have found running slower parkrun makes them way more enjoyable. I'm not sure why there is so much pressure on running fast, especially as you get older
1:59 plus Chicago plus Kona and a great weekend for watching marathons rather than reading about the latest drug scandal. You are right that parkrun/5K, 10K and marathon are distances more people can relate to.
Congrats Sarah great result 👊
Achieved my target for 2019 sub 30 PR for 29:45 👍
Congratulations!! That must feel amazing!!
Ben Parkes Taken a lot of training this year. Sub 29:00 for 2020
Thanks and congrats to you too! It's so nice getting just under a big milestone!
Congratulations!
When you accelerated away at the end after running at that pace. Great to watch and awesome support

Thank you Sukesh! Good luck for the half, sounds like you're going to do brilliantly! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations to Sarah, hope she enjoys that PB feeling. As for Kipchoge it's just an honour to say I've shared a race course with him.
Thank you Alan, yes was so awesome!
Ben ran 4min/Km while holding camera, taking video, also talking all the way. Marvelous. You are born to run!
Another awesome video. The only RUclips channel I have alerts for new videos switched on 👍
Congratulations Sarah. Well done. Also love Kipchoge and the good energy he brings to running. It is really inspiring when there is so much grim news in the world. Great video. The food makes me very hungry.

congrats Sarah for your personal best on the 5Km Park Run! You had a really good pacer! ;) :P

Well done Sarah, excellent result that!! Great videos Ben, so encouraging and enthusiastic, it's great.
The sub 2 was so awesome:) that pace, wow.
Mines 17.40.
Thanks Andrew!
Well done Sarah! I recently broke the 20 minute barrier too and it's such a great feeling!
Coming late to this party but that was a great run by Sarah. A full 20 seconds under goal and didn’t even seem that exhausted at the end. Well done.
Hi Ben watching your videos has been a great motivation and its got me back out running and i ran a sub 21 minute parkrun so I want to thank you! P.s big well done to sarah on her park run too!
Well done Richard.. sub 20 for you next!!

Chasing you down
Well done!! That would be a great Christmas present.. sub 17! All the best!
Post race meal is crumpets with scrambled eggs with spinach in. Cover in mixed nuts/ seeds. Also cover crumpets in marmite for extra B12 nom nom nom
Use to have that a lot before the whole plant based thing.. still have crumpets and marmite loads though!! All good stuff!
Your a true inspiration Sarah. Fantastic! Well done.
I was counting the days for INEOS1:59 since announcement, same for your Berlin race as well. Now I look forward for Frankfurt and breaking your PB.
Well Done Sarah on the PB! Try coconut oil instead of butter on the Avo Toast it makes an amazing difference. Keep up the great work and good luck in Frankfurt!
Thanks for the idea Phillip!!
Well said Rich!
A good solid mileage base plus a regular interval session and I'm sure you'll see your time start to come down in no time
40K subs well done. My park run PB is 18:45 at curl curl sydney Australia. Totally buggered by the finish line but got under 19
Well done Sarah!
That would be top ten at my Park run (Black Park) very impressed.. 👍
Thank you!
Has Ben got a sub 20 5k plan? Like an 8 week schedule? I used to do 18 mins 5k but that was a while back.. I’m a bit older now but would dearly like to prove I can still do a good time again 😊
1:59 was awesome, it’s good for running and good for everyone. No matter what the conditions, he still did that time on his own 2 legs. He’s amazing.
Inspired by Kipchoge and you too! Really look forward for your next uploads! Keep it coming, cheers 🥂
My PB is 18:43, don't do it that often as tend to run longer, want to break into 17 mins soon though. Well done Sarah I remember breaking 20 min 5k and I was super happy
Thanks! Yeah I was so delighted! Good luck with the sub 17 when you decide to go for it!
Kipchoge´s run was awesome, but Bekele´s run in Berlin was in my opinion worth the same, considering the conditions und pacemakers.
great effort!!!!!! I signed up in 2016 and still havn't done one, I'll be doing my first one this Saturday :-)
Love the small boing boing and zonk sounds!
Thank you Gustavo!
I can confirm running slower parkruns is much more enjoyable! But every once in a while it's fun to run a fast one :)
Running sub 20 pace and talking, love this 💪💪💪💪.
Congrats on her PB.. Amazing. I'm trying for 21min. Love parkrun
The 1.59 was a spectical
1:59 plus Chicago plus Kona and a great weekend for watching marathons rather than reading about the latest drug scandal. You are right that parkrun/5K, 10K and marathon are distances more people can relate to.
PLEASE POST MORE OFTEN 🙂
I’m trying!! 😃
Super job Sarah!
I'm still trying to hit 20 min mark ...
Then there's Ben who jus leisurely run ahead to film you finish 😂👍
Thank you Thomas. Keep trying you'll get there! And yeah I'm used to it by now, at least he wasn't running backwards this time.
Great running. I am looking to get sub 22 after starting back at the first lockdown last year. 👍👌
14:49 had me in stitches (but could not agree more!)
ROFL @ the course cutter in the grey shirt at 4:08. Can't cheat your way through life, big guy! 😂
Haha.. I saw them too.. but I think they were only about 12 years old, so didn’t want to point it out.. but yeah, must stay on the tarmac!!
Well done Sarah!!! Insane time!!
