Thanks a lot to everyone who has watched this, I really appreciate your comments! I went on a second walk during the summer from Sainte-Anne to the Old Port, it's a lot more scenic and sunny, you can see the video here: ruclips.net/video/8ePQlF_Sw24/видео.html
First off, props for surviving the walk!! Not even just for the distance, but for choosing to walk the the highways... If I were to ever attempt such a feat, I'd take the scenic route through the denser parts of town, watching this felt like exploring a concrete wasteland
Thanks! And yeah I know... it would have been more pleasant along one of the shores instead of right down the middle by the 40. Next time I do something like this I'll try to plan for less concrete & tarmac.
@@che8866 Except Montreal does have a lot of beautiful green places and trails to walk through, and you can walk alongside rivers and canals across the whole island. But it will mean walking along the edge of the island and hence adds quite a bit of time to the walk,
Merci d'avoir regardé! Je suis content que tu aies apprécié. Yes, it was pretty rough out in the cold and rain but I’m happy to have made it. 25km is still a great effort
I have lived in Montreal all my life, and lived in Ste-Anne for a few years, while at Mac. You definitely showed places in the east end I've never seen or even knew about. However, I think your trip would have been much more pleasant had you walked along Gouin (north shore) or the Lakeshore (through Beaconsfield), as this is where a lot of the early colonization took place, and there's some historic windmills and other structures along the way. Another place you might also like to walk is along the shore from Pont-Viau, (see Parc île de la Visitation) all the way north to the eastern tip. The Visitation Island is also a historic place with an old water mill of some sorts, I believe.
Me and a friend did the same 2 years ago. Took us around 14 hours, but we followed the saint lawrence river and canal lachine the whole way. We also did something similar in NYC last year.
Quite the achievement! Let’s see more of MTL! FYI, in the west, there is a bike/walking path about 1km north of highway 40 that goes from about des Sources all the way through to St-Anne de Bellevue. Or Blvd Gouin which is the longest street in Montreal (57 Km) that goes all the way to St Anne’s. Kudos roughing it on the 40 service road (but really not safe…).
He was actually on the bike path you're referring to. It starts off right as he exited Bois de Liesse. You see him walking on it up until Spring Garden I guess.
It's rare that i come across beautiful souls like that, i can sense the passion in your videos and music. Keep grinding brother, you're among the rare ones

Dude, I used to live there. Can’t imagine going to Sainte Anne de Bellevue from pointe aux trembles by walk. I live my youth in L’ile Perrot and all over the place to down town. You’re courageous, kudos.
Yeah it really highlights why a city made for drivers sucks the life out of everything when you take the time to look at it! Could hear the highway noise even in the nature reserve.. no escape
Im glad you passed by the Route Verte cycling road 6:14. It is the longest continual cycling road in America. I love it and I use it daily for my commutes and fun. The view along the road is awesome and on windy days you get a fresh breeze from the river.
Nice walk, well done ... what a shame you elected to walk alongside the 40 from Galleries des Sources to RioCan in Kirkand. There's a pretty good walking/cycle path that runs east-west along the hydro quebec servitude from Bois Francs all the way into SADB village, I believe the last 18K of your walk would have been a lot more pleasant had you taken this route :). Thanks for sharing your video.
4:39 this is Route 125 or Boul Pie XI with a bus ferris wheel art installation. The other end of r125 starts in Hochelaga and goes south of the olympic stadium and le jardin boutanique. The R125 BRT is also there.

After Bois de Liesse, you should have continued on the bike path instead of going all the way to the service road. It runs pretty parallel to the service road.
Congrats on doing it. This brought so many memories for me. I grew up east of town, now live in st Laurent and work in the West Island. Needless to say it was nice to see so many areas that have been important in my life in a single video. Thank you

If you had gone a little south in Dorval you would have had beautiful views along the Lakeshore road to St Annes, but great achievement 60kms is impressive
Good for you, that's a long walk, albeit pretty flat depending on one's route I've lived in Sainte Anne for about 35 years. Done the end-to-end three separate times about 10-12 years ago -- each time from Pointe aux Trembles to Sainte Anne (58-62 km depending on route). Don't know if I could manage it anymore...but it's largely mind over matter, I never did any training in advance at the time. Took me 14-16 hrs 1 - alone, along north route (Gouin, Salaberry bike path to Timberlea...Chemin Ste. Marie...) 2 - with my daughter, Sherbrooke St. to Atwater, down to Lachine Canal, Lakeshore Rd. 3 - with my daughter, Sherbrooke St., Rachel St. , Mont Royal St., up to peak of Mt. Royal, The Boulevard, Westmount Ave, NDG Ave, down to Lachine Canal at end of Sherbrooke, Lakeshore Rd. Indeed the last 10 km one is tempted to simply jump on a bus and collapse... certainly not a good time to sit down for any length of time.
i once got out of the theater in downtown Montreal after watching The Matrix 2 and i walked all night long (35 KM walk) starting at 1h30 A.M. and got to my suburb town of Repentigny at around 8h00 A.M. ... was working graveyard shift back then so it was a nice walk instead of working 8 hours .
Nice journey, theres a nice bike path along Salaberry for the west portion, you'd need to deviate after st-charles to reach the other path that leads to l'Anse a l'Orme
4:50 if i remembwr right the ferris wheel is made with either the body of old busses or old metrocar we used to have in MTL, they gotta bring those back what great public transport we lost
Paulo and Suzannes is an amazing place to eat. You defintley stopped at the right spot to eat. They were around when Belmont Park was active back in the 80s
Loved your video. I did a 50 km bike ride like a week ago and I gotta say, the bikable part of the city is so small compared to the actual island side. Still, I loved my trip, it's so fun to explore the hidden gems of tje place you live in. Yeah sorry I'm french sooo
Great walking challenge! Congratulations! I like to take long walks in Montreal, but I prefer to use Sherbrooke, Notre-Dame, go through Old-Montreal, sometimes walk along canal Lachine. I did a round trip between metro Langelier and Lachine a few years ago. Mostly bike paths and no highways. About 50km. It was a long day, but a very pleasant early fall challenge. Good luck with your next challenges.
Great content, as a Montrealer thats lived in the East and West, I would definitely suggest doing the lakeshore route Sainte Annes Beaconsfield village Pointe Claire Village Dorval village Lachine Canal Rapids of Lasalle Into verdun Atwater canal Old port Almost all of this has some sort of biking or walking lane. The scenery is gorgeous, great places to stop and eat and tons of history and nature.
I remember once I biked from st annes to Dollard des ormeaux for a party and right when I got there, I rolled over glass and popped my tire. I have an aunt in Pointe Claire so i decided to walk (my bis pass was empty). I ended up along highway forty, halfway between sources and St-Jean and my aunt lived right across from where i was, but there was no where to cross. THAT pissed me off and this reminded me of it instantly.
I've started to walk a lot more again after a nasty incident that left me unable to walk for 3 months, and I love exploring Montreal too! Very fun video to watch, thank you for sharing and inspiring :) It's been a goal of mine to explore parts of the city I've never seen and after watching this I want to make sure I do so this weekend.
I think you mean Boul. St Jean Pointe Claire. You should have gone down to Bord du Lac ( Lakeshore) at Des Sources. Nicer walk. Mind you I’m totally blown away by that walk. In credible. Good on you. Cheers from L’Ile Perrot.
If you do another long walk, I hope the route takes you along the Lachine waterfront parks and its namesake canal! It's definitely more pedestrian-friendly than the T-Can service road
Thanks for the tour! Here at home in Toronto we got a guy named Johnny Strides that walks lengths of various streets .. looking forward to seeing /learning more about Montreal from your channel.
I did it few years ago,but I get by south side of the island. Little bit longer but much less highway. It’s almost all distance going along a bike patch and many nice things to see. It took me around 17 hours to do it.
I once left Montreal on foot to hitchhike and it was very hard to exit the city by foot. Luckily a trucker picked us up almost immediately on the highway and took us all the way to Quebec City
Awesome. Congratulations! As a long distance walker, I felt your pain, though I’ve never gone that far in a day. My daughter lives in Montreal and I walk a lot when I visit her. You’ve given me some great ideas of nature places to check out. Thanks.
Inspiring video - thank you! I agree with the idea of walking the shorelines - gorgeous quiet parks along the water all the way from Old Montreal all the way to St. Anne de Bellevue. Lots of places to grab a lunch, coffee or ice cream. Maybe a summer challenge:)?
Jean-Coutu, where you bought your sunscreen, was actually in Montreal - North borough and not Anjou. Enjoyable video seeing landmarks that I've been to, and others that I would like to discover. Cheers!
Nice journey! I’ve run from my house in Pincourt to the clock tower in Old MTL along the Lakeshore and Lachine Canal…it was a fun, tough and rewarding day!
superbe video. great demonstration also of the state of the city even looking for the bascis of it, which is walking paths... congrats for the accomplishment
Congrats on your accomplishment. I know how difficult it can be. I did the 100,000 step in 24 hours challenge last year, which I don't recommend. It ended up being around 77 km (48 miles) and took 18-19 hours to complete. It was brutal but I survived. Cheers and keep walking!
Cheers to you for your walk along our Island, do it again when it is green and summery please, try the other side, much longer and show more, you missed a spot or two on Ville-Marie (Montreal) end to end. Thanks for a big ask from a one legged guy who still does it.
I honestly want to give my congrats especially for the stretch around Pointe Ste Claire. You didn’t even start to complain that I knew it would be the most terrible part, even if not the longest and even if the start wasn’t even remotely scenic either lol
So I saw this video a few months ago and was really inspired, so yesterday my friends and I also walked Montréal end to end! Thanks for the motivation!
living in Ile Perrot, just a few minutes from St Annes, this is insane to me inspiring me to make the same walk myself! with a nights rest in-between, that is! never thought of soeone walking all across Montreal before, maybe this could be a fun activity over a couple days!
great walk! Congratulations. fwiw, I feel like you would have had an nicer time if you followed the bike path under the power lines. ... when you got out of bois de liesse, you head north on sunnybrooke until the parking lot after Kingsley... then you cross the parking lot you just go under the power lines until Ste-Annes... it's bike path in parkland pretty much the whole way. you could have skipped the whole highway 40 experience.
Hi Dan, i've done something similar in MTL where I walked from East to West across the island. Just discovered your channel. You should upload some more travel videos or walk across some other cities and towns.
It's such a walkable city, isn't it? I really enjoyed putting this together and it seems people enjoy watching it, so I think I'll plan something similar somewhere else in the coming months.
Interesting! I like that kind of Urban Exploration. Awesome vid. By the way, that Park in Pointe-aux-Trembles (beginning of video), is very popular for local bird photographers.
Yeah I've biked that last bit east to west, a few times, and it's always so windy at the western tip of Montreal. Eventually I opted to catch the EXO train out west to off island instead, and then finish biking the last bit to my friends' farm. I've also biked to that eastern tip, and it's a very pretty enjoyable park, and a very enjoyable and doable afternoon ride out and back!

Presque à 100 000 vues! Belle vidéo!
Jean-Coutu, where you bought your sunscreen, was actually in Montreal - North borough and not Anjou. Enjoyable video seeing landmarks that I've been to, and others that I would like to discover. Cheers!
Oui, tu as raison, I see now it’s Montréal-Nord. I need to explore more of the north-east of the island! Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed
Not exactly at the most western point in St Anne (the pier... but by night not so great) but still a good walk!
Nice journey! I’ve run from my house in Pincourt to the clock tower in Old MTL along the Lakeshore and Lachine Canal…it was a fun, tough and rewarding day!
That's so cool to see you living a true adventure in such a simple way! So nice to watch, I will walk more in Montreal now :)
superbe video. great demonstration also of the state of the city even looking for the bascis of it, which is walking paths... congrats for the accomplishment
Bois-de-Liesse in the Winter on snowshoes is absolutely amazing. You'd love it.
2:00 such a unique building. I'm always amazed at old building like this and curious on the building techniques of the past.
So I saw this video a few months ago and was really inspired, so yesterday my friends and I also walked Montréal end to end! Thanks for the motivation!
That's awesome!! I love hearing when someone gets inspired to do a similar adventure. Hope you guys had a blast!
living in Ile Perrot, just a few minutes from St Annes, this is insane to me
inspiring me to make the same walk myself! with a nights rest in-between, that is!
never thought of soeone walking all across Montreal before, maybe this could be a fun activity over a couple days!
First time here. I am happy of your walk and your tenacity.
Thank you for sharing this video. Merci, Salut.
That's an insane walk, I felt your pain 😂
3:37 i live by here, it would actually still be considered in riviere-des-prairies ouest. But it's right by anjou. Awesome video!
What an amazing video, really entertaining, you're so underrated! Haven't seen such a good video on youtube like this in quite a while. Keep it up!
Congratulations to you. This was pure determination and perseverance. Great video. I ran a few 100 km ultra-marathon, so I can totally relate.
Simply awesome! I admire your tenacity! Next challenge: Walk from Montreal to Ottawa! ;P
Ohh boy! I have Ottawa in the back of my mind for a bike ride but apparently a walk would take 42 hours. Glad you enjoyed!
I have always loved watching your videos. You are such a great (and funny) storyteller! 🙂 Congrats on the 55 KM/89K steps hike!!!
Interesting! I like that kind of Urban Exploration. Awesome vid.
By the way, that Park in Pointe-aux-Trembles (beginning of video), is very popular for local bird photographers.
The walk from old Port to canal Lachine then side of the water to ste anne de belle vue is really really nice hope youl give it a try soon!
Superb video!! Just, at 4:01 you weren't in Anjou at all! That's Montréal-Nord! I miss that place so much, ngl.
