Great review. I got this for my Birthday. It's one of the best and surprisingly most comfortable prop helmets out there. I didn't realize it at first, as I got the helmet before the movie was available for home (and more close up frame by frame) viewing, but this is specifically the helmet seen on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. It has a slightly darker more graphite color than Vol 1 with a few other minor differences. I think those side details being the darker graphite is correct for the V2 helmet. Also what I realized is all the painted on weathering is a direct copy and match to the on screen digital models. All of the scuffs and blemishes are not random. They are printed straight from the 3D models. Visibility with the helmet on is meh. It's Better than the Iron Man tiny little eye slits. But you are still looking at the world through deep red colored lenses which can be off putting. As soon as you light up the eyes you're blind.
Happy birthday, buddy. I'm working on trying to produce a replacement lighting kit as a drop-in solution that will hopefully be a bit less obnoxious than the stock lenses on these things, but even so, it's still a lovely kit. Have fun with it!
Oh and be warned. The "fog" on the lenses seems to be some sort of nasty gunky mold release junk. I had to use alcohol wipes to get it off. And it was a bit worrying as red color was coming off onto the wipe. It doesn't seem to have bleached or altered the color of the lenses though.
Mine has some plastic wear (not simulated metal wear) on it and on the outer temples, the inside of the hinges have is showing I don't see any of that on yours. Did yours have fingerprints in the lens?
The lens-fingerprints-issue is to due with whatever they ended up putting on the lenses that makes that weird film. I've been cleaning it up with windex and a microfiber cloth. I'm not sure I know what you're saying about the hinges - are you saying the hinges are visible? If so, they can be pushed in flush to close the seam on the helmet.
Love it what's your head circumference I have a fan made helmet the barley fits and doesn't open in the back and I ordered it and should be fine but just curious
My head is about 24" in circumference on the brow. I have my own fan-made helmet that I 3d printed, but getting it on and off is a nightmare that usually hurts my ears. This is a lot nicer.
Fused Creations hmm if we're talking crown I think mine is 23 and a half I also have a longer face hoping that won't be an issue, my helmet would straight up cut up my forhead and get stuck etc I sanded alot of the inside but still didn't help got sick before a con I was attending couldn't wear it and I was getting a op done with Rooker, and Sean Gunn...why couldn't the release been before may lol...
Just brought it myself, having trouble connecting to any device. Once it connects after about 3 seconds it shuts off and disconnects. Please if any help would be appreciated
Mine shuts off after three seconds as well. Only way to keep the music running is if I continuously press the light button. Anyone figured out how to fix this yet??
I really like the design of the helmet. However one complaint I have is... it hurts my face. Been messing with the straps a lot. I don't want it too lose where it can fall off but, I want it on good. That plastic eye piece really leave a mark on my face after wearing it for so long. Any ideas how to remedy this?
Hi! So I bought this and I have an extremely large head. I have yet to find a hat that fits me anywhere. Beanies fit though lol. Do you think it will work with heads that are massive? How big do you think it'll go
As a fellow big-head-haver, I expect it'd fit you. I measure 24" around the forehead. Since the helmet is held on by the pads and elastic straps, you're not relying on the dimensions of the helmet for fitting. I would imagine in absolute worst case you could wear the helmet closed (back hatch down), but without the seam pushed flush, which would give you an extra inch of two of headroom. Since they molded details onto the parts that overlap, it wouldn't look too weird.

It’s not worth the price, no matter what. Paying more than 60 bucks for this piece it’s simply stupid. I ordered it and returned it the same day. Cheap plastic, doesn’t look that great. I’m sorry but most reviews of this are lies...

Try gluing or taping something softer to it. They might have some at home depot. Like the stuff you use to cover your pipes in the winter time
