  • Vibrant and so-called psychedelic “Welcome Signs” once greeted visitors to America at U.S. land border crossings along Canada and Mexico. The signs were designed by the American Pop artist Peter Max and were initially rejected by the U.S. Customs Service (legacy CBP). They would later be installed at U.S. Ports of Entry with the support of President Jimmy Carter in 1977.
