    I would wrap that concrete post in vapour barrier, then strap it and cover it with drywall. You'll either need tapcon screws or a ramset gun to secure the strapping. Then it will blend in with the rest of the room. It looks great!

    The concrete can be covered up. Get your contractor to cover the concrete with plastic (moisture from the concrete will affect the wood) then use tapon screws to secure the studs to the concrete, then drywall. I had a similar problem. I am a neat freak, very meticulous. "It's bugging me".
