El Valle del río Matachel va desde Hornachos y Llera hasta casi Maguilla, en la provincia de Badajoz. Es uno de los tributarios del río Guadiana, y su trazado es muy sinuoso entre dehesas, pastizales y bosques mediterráneos.
Es una zona poco accesible, la mayoría son fincas privadas. Pero hay un mirador en la finca municipal de Las Mil Quinientas, en Llera, en el km. 8 entre esta localidad y Hornachos. Y por la pista en un km. se llega al mirador, excelente posición para avistar al lince ibérico, que con paciencia se llega a ver todos los días. La población de linces de este espacio natural es muy buena, gracias a la abundancia de conejos y la tranquilidad de la zona.
También es fácil divisar al águila imperial ibérica.
The Valley of the Matachel River goes from Hornachos and Llera to almost Maguilla, in the province of Badajoz. It is one of the tributaries of the Guadiana River, and its route is very sinuous between pastures, grasslands and Mediterranean forests.
It is a poorly accessible area, most of them are private estates. But there is a viewpoint on the municipal property of Las Mil Quinientas, in Llera, at km. 8 between this town and Hornachos. And along the track in one km. You reach the viewpoint, an excellent position to spot the Iberian lynx, which with patience can be seen every day. The lynx population in this natural area is very good, thanks to the abundance of rabbits and the tranquility of the area.
It is also easy to spot the Iberian imperial eagle.
