    My grandfather was a prison guard at Ft. Leavenworth back in the 1940s-70s. He would tell all kinds of stories if we could ever convince him to. Which wasn’t very often but if you could get him to talk about his time there, he could talk for hours. There was a guy that they ended up having to tie up in a straitjacket and toss in the padded room, because he was having a psychotic episode. After awhile the guy sat with his back to the door, and would lean forward and slam his head against the door. (the door wasn’t padded)
    The guards decided to administer a sedative to the man, but they had to hold him down to do it. So about four of them waited for him to lean forward again, and when he attempted to slam his head they opened the door causing the prisoner to fall backwards. When he fell backwards, most of the guards jumped on him to hold him down. My grandfather happened to be holding his head and shoulders by sitting on him. The prisoner then proceeded to bite my grandfather in the ass as hard as he could. My grandpa had a bite mark on his butt till the day he died from that guy. lol

    "does it mean you have drugs in prison"
    Oh Michi! 😊

      Contraband. Everyone knows it's there, but the guards don't have time to check every inmate constantly (and it would be inhumane too).

      She's from Indo, while they have rampant drugs in prison there also, I'm sure the govt keeps that quieter among the populace than they do in the west. Even in the west I think the majority of kids to teenagers have no idea how many drugs are in prisons

    Jared: *knowing nod*

    Thinking that a prison guard who deals with drug addicts and crazy people comes home to moderate his idol's chat is so funny to me I love it

    Ayo, constant watch sucks. I had a guy that went in there because an entire compound (like 800 inmates) wanted him dead for breaking sprinkler heads and flooding the cells. Dude claimed self harm in order to not be harmed.
    Working at a prison is an experience

    give them a deck of cards something.
    i will truly never understand the logic behind sticking someone in a barron room and thinking. "yeah that'll fix em"

      @siriusindustriesllc238 Месяц назад +15

      I agree with that. But from a few former inmates whose channel I follow, they emphasized that the prison system of America is NOT for "fixing" people, but simply to punish them

    • @gigitrix
      @gigitrix Месяц назад +6

      I will say, not to condone the status quo, the purpose of those cells is to create a space where it is physically impossible to harm yourself (or worse). Even a deck of cards is something a motivated inmate could try to fashion into a weapon for themselves or others. Normal cells aren't this restrictive and it's the sort of thing that's intended for acute crisises not long term

      @@siriusindustriesllc238 Prison (at least in America) is not primarily about remediation: it’s about punishment, isolation, and sending a message
