This one was set up by my repair guy who actually found a genuine Ric nut for it, so it's strung correctly, with the heavier strings oriented to the bass side. I use Ernie Ball 12 String Light gauge strings (9's), which I think are a little heavier than what it comes with. I don't recommend using anything heavier as it's been known to pull the neck away from the body. I also tune both of my 12 strings down a half a step and use a capo. This puts less stress on the neck and makes the strings last longer.
Looks and sounds good! The capo on the 1st fret also resolves tuning issues from the nut, even though in your case you're using a Ric nut. Pretty nice guitar, and quite beautiful.
I wouldn't try it. The neck joints are famous for being very shallow. I've seen people pull the necks completely off by trying to string it with heavy gauge flats.

So the truss rod won't support 10s?
