Nice, a 2002 Sport like mine! Mine a 4.0 tho. Bought the Jag filter, just wasn't sure what oil to use. Now I know, thanks!
Great video, very informative, without a lot of pointless talking. Many thanks again. Well done.
Hi John,
Good to hear that you found the video useful and thank you for watching.
Cheers

Thanks for making this video! I'm about to attempt this :S good video!
You're very welcome - glad you found it useful and thanks for watching.
Bloody brilliant!
Great video. Easy to follow. I noticed you didn't replace the pan bolt with new, which I believe Jaguar recommends for my 2003 S-Type 3.0L. Is this something you'd recommend on the XJ8 as well?
Any more videos for the xj8 like rear shock replacement , flushing heater matrix cheers
guestion . what is the additive you need to add when changing differncial oil on this ?
Are they sellin em filters at autozone or have to buy online?
I have a 2008 Jaguar S-Type 3.0 with gearshift getting stuck from park. It has a delay of 20 seconds before it unlocks from park. I was wondering if replacing the whole gear shift will solve the issue.
Hi - this is not a symptom we have encountered during our time with working on our S Types. However it does appear to be a common problem which many owners have experienced. Google "jaguar s type shifter stuck in Park" and it will show a number checks that you can perform to resolve your problem. I wouldn't change your gear shift assembly without first checking these other options first. Sorry I can't be of more help just now. Good luck!
Super useful. Quick question: did you tighten the new oil-filter by hand or with something else? How tight should I go? Don’t want to over-do it..
Hi - Yes tighten the filter by hand until you feel the rubber seal being compressed and a resistance from the filter to be rotated further. Be sure to clean both mating surfaces (rubber seal and filter housing) and apply a light coating of oil to both.
Thanks for watching.

Jag TV thanks for the quick reply! This is great info. Let’s get busy
You're very welcome and good luck with the work.
You won't drain all of the oil when car is on ramps at that level.
if i get a nice filter from wix is that fine or should i use the oem? is there any reason to use the oem filter?
Hi - We always use OEM filters as they have been approved by Jaguar and you know that they are going to work and filter the oil correctly.(Form, Fit and Function) (filter elements can vary in quality and ability to filter). It also gives a reassured feeling and the Jaguar logo on parts shows that you care about your car.

I have Jag x type 2003... Mirrors are not foldable right?
mete kavruk an x type is slightly different to an xj8 lol
What is socket size for the air intake channel?
If I recall correctly it's a 10mm
Great video, if possible, please do an 2013 Jag XJ v6 oil change.
what for diesel engine
Hi - Jaguar didn't make an XJ8 Diesel
I’m gonna put 6l of 10W60 recommended by euro car parts shop into 1997 xjr (X308) 4.0 , 147000 miles on the clock, BFO 4111 oil filter
I always take the filter off before draining the oil. If you drop it in the hot oil filled tray. the splash could be a problem for your eyes. Otherwise a good vid.
wear saftey glasses solves that issue :)
And it's crazy how this can cost 160
Great video, but you put the sump plug back in whilst there was still oil draining, and you NEVER put the plug back in while the filter is still attached. You get runback when filter is removed and a couple hundred ml's runs back down into the sump!
It’s also on a ramp so a considerable amount of oil would still be in the back end of the sump
why not 10w30?
Hi,
For the X308 Jaguar recommends the use of the following viscosity oil for the engine.
Ambient Temperatures
SAE 0W-30 Oil - Temp Range -30 to -10 Degrees Centigrade
SAE 5W-30 Oil - Temp Range -10 to +10 Degrees Centigrade (Use for nominal fuel economy according to Jaguar Cars Ltd)
SAE 0W-40 Oil - Temp Range +10 to +30 Degrees Centigrade
SAE 5W-40 Oil - Temp Range +30 to +50 Degrees Centigrade
10W-30 is not listed by Jaguar for the X308
Hope this clarifies and thank you for watching.

Jag TV my 1998 Jaguar xj8 manual says 5w30 10w30 10w40
Interesting and curious. However the vehicle in the video is the V8 3.2 2002MY Model with steel cylinder liners. The earlier 1998 XJ8 originally had the Nikasil liners. Maybe that explains the difference.
They changed the oil recommendations along with the changes to the engine over the years of the x308 model. It really doesn't matter what type and viscosity oil you use but some allow for better performance and fuel economy.
if i am lucky, in couple of days i might get 2000 XJ daimler super v8 LWB... dunno to be happy or terrified :D
I know just what you mean. A commitment to buy a 16 Year old XJ Daimler comes with a certain amount of trepidation. If you are familiar with the range then you will know what to expect. However if not then before buying do lots of research on the Jaguar Forums and of course the car's history from the current owner. These are beautiful cars and if you get a good one then there will be little in the "Terror" department and bucket loads in the "Happy" department.
Good luck and thanks for watching.

Jag TV thanks a lot. *crossing fingers
This car is so stupid. It's the dumbest car I've ever owned. I have 3 of them... And mental issues apparently.
