    Thanks for this video.
    I think the centre bearing on our VY needs to be replaced. My husband and I are going to do it.
    I watch the videos and then show/tell him how to do it, and then he does it for me. 😂 Team work. 😅

      Hi Scott, just got back from the mechanic and they said the bearings are starting to crack or warn out and he told me that I should replace the shaft as well, can you please advise me for what should I do cheers?

    Mate this has saved me. I just changed my front struts thanks to your vid with no issues. I got a clutch replacement and the mechanic said my centre bearing was dead and told me it would be a multiple day job, god knows how much they would have charged me. Going to give it a crack soon

      Can’t really complain with a $27 price tag including delivery when bursons quoted $223 retail or $193 trade price.

    Best to check your universal joint for wear while you have the shaft separated, check for roughness and stiffness as this can cause the destruction of your hanger bearing in the first place, 😮

    • @HaveACrackGarage
      @HaveACrackGarage  5 месяцев назад +1

      Uni joints/donuts are all sweet. You’re right though, need to do proper maintenance and inspections of these as they are wear items

    Hey mate do you know if this shaft would be the same on a 2002 VX

    • @HaveACrackGarage
      @HaveACrackGarage  2 месяца назад +1

      Process to change the centre bearing would be the same. Statesman, Ute and wagon tailshaft are longer than a commodore sedan tailshaft though.

    Ain't no way I would drive the bearing home whole having the vice hold the other side of the uni yoke. Too much force, they aren't designed for that. Definitely would have clamped the nearside yoke.

      @@Homebrewwhisky not everyone can afford the more expensive option. The whole idea of this video is to help people have a crack at simple jobs themselves and save money. The caprice is just going to be a burnout car so limited use compared to a daily but will be spinning a lot faster 🤣 If it doesn’t last I can replace it 3 or 4 times and still be better off compared to buying an expensive bearing

    • @Homebrewwhisky
      @Homebrewwhisky Месяц назад

      @HaveACrackGarage fair enough U can put a special glue around the bearing wounce set in shaft helps it to last longer ,I. Don't have a hoist so I'd rather use GM bearing and kelpro rubbers
