Its impossible to overstate what the Bomb Hole provides to this community. This is a conversation about a person and their legacy that we have desperately needed for 20 years. The same ppl who hate on Shaun are the same ppl who begged their parents to buy them a Dragon or a SW Pro Model. I was there, I saw them do it. We ALL wanted to be him. The honesty and the courage to face this narrative speaks to his character, and also to the BOMB HOLE PLATFORM. This podcast is saving Snowboarding.
All the younger generation probably think Shaun was just the best at pipe, but don't know that he literally won all Slopestyle and pipe comps at the same time and wins Skate vert Gold at Xgames in the summer. Shaun's a unicorn

Very nice to hear his perspective. I’ve been a Shaun hater for a long time. I feel like with a step back, we can agree that it was exaggerated. Quite surprised no one brought up the boot grab though. Thanks again for opening fellow snowboarders perspectives and hearing him explain his reality in all this. Great episode!

Shaun is the most important rider in the history of the sport. And he’s a nice guy and class act to boot. Hat tip to the man. He’s stomped everything & done it with class! What a great ambassador for snowboarding . It’s a shame that we are just now starting to fully appreciate how massive his contributions to snowboarding are . It’s great to see him get an opportunity to talk about these things and I love that he chose the Bomb Hole as the place to do it. Thanks guys for having him on. This is a great episode. Next steps… Shaun, i would like to see you try Natural Selection !!! I would love to see you ride at Revelstoke or AK. I’m guessing most of the field at NST grew up watching him ride and would welcome him as a competitor. Even if he was eating s$!t, we’d all still tune in to watch him ride. I’m guessing that he’d figure it out and be competitive. But if he was getting crushed, he’d still bring a ton of new fans and more visibility to NST, which would only help the sport and the riders.
Really can't believe this finally happened... Absolutely amazing interview and long overdue for Shaun to speak to the community; this interview and the documentary are certainly good PR for him. People need to be willing to hit reset and have an open mind. I know the haters like to say he didn't give back to the sport but there is an entire generation that grew up being inspired by his success. This can't be talked about enough, probably no one else has inspired that many to join the sport. It's pretty clear that he was motivated by being focused on competing at the highest level and pushing back on all the distractions. Certainly seems to have applied a lot of strategy during his competition which shouldn't be a negative; look at the early days of snurfing/snowboarding and it was definitely the same. Not sure there has been a better Bomb Hole episode that this one; tough to top this one, this might be the peak.
You're a bonafide stud if you don't know the songs to your own video parts. If I had a video part I'd watch it every day before I went to bed and when I woke up in the morning.

When i started snowboarding in the late 80s early 90s, half pipe runs were a challenge to just navigate the lumps and chanels carved in the wall. Now runs and riders are precise like a figure skater where body position is held to rigid standard

I wouldn’t put him past him, if he felt confident. It’s either he would play it safe, with no chance of winning, or go all out.

Next year we need you in that competition !!
Been waiting awhile for this one. Need a Halldor episode
I started snowboarding because I wanted to be like Shaun. Skating in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. He showed me that you could be both!
Legendary podcast episode right here
Natural Select 24/25, you have my vote. 'Make Shaun Send Again' hats on sale now 😂
Really can't believe this finally happened...
Great one! I appreciate that you guys met this conversation where it could be, as opposed to treating it like a normal ep. And it's really cool to get to listen to Shaun as an authentic dude and from a different perspective than his more common interviews and media appearances.
Hell Yeah Bomb Hole, that was dope! Keep up the good work Shaun!
When i started snowboarding in the late 80s early 90s, half pipe runs were a challenge to just navigate the lumps and chanels carved in the wall. Now runs and riders are precise like a figure skater where body position is held to rigid standard
So awesome to hear from you, Shaun!
