Coraline’s book is a lot more dark than the movie. The only reason Neil Gaiman got the book published is because when his publisher read it to her daughter, the daughter lied about how terrifying the story was.
It wasn't just Coraline that is dark, the backstory around Wonderland is also very scary. The arthur based the mc on a little girl who name is Alice, he teached as a professor. Also there also rumors that he was a pedophile considering that he took several nude photos of children including Alice and those photos still exist.
The author of Alice in Wonderland was close friends with a guy who had a daughter named Alice, who he was obsessed with. He ended up taking lewd photos of Alice’s younger siblings. The guy banned the author from visiting his daughter, so the author wrote the book.
I believe this is what happened I’m not 100% sure it’s right, but I think it’s pretty close

I’m surprised you didn’t notice “off with all her heads” referring to how Coralline is stop motion, with hundreds of different sculpted faces to give her smooth emotions and lip syncing.
and people with schyscophrenia are refeerred to having multiple heads aswell
When Alice was counting '1, 2, 3', I think it was a reference to the three seconds the Other Mother gave Caroline to apologize

I know I’m late but a lot of references in this is more about Alice and her rated Mature video game. Example-
1. Nightmares are PG rated line she’s making fun of the fact that coralline is considered a horror movie even though it’s PG rated, while Alice return to madness is rated R.
2. The Alice in wonder land to Alice cooper line was more about the rated MATURE game if you see how goth like she looks in the game compared to the movie she’s referring to her looking like him. And also how he fell off lol.
Also another thing most people don’t pick up is the fact that Alice pronounces coralline as CAROLINE on purpose because in the movie coralline always gets mad when you say her name wrong. Alice does this during the snow globe part which is her last turn in the round.

I think Alice won, a few reasons I found were:
1. I like how her reference to “nightmares are PG rated” could be interpreted from how many dark versions there are of Alice’s story and I also didn’t find Coraline scary but that might just be me (only referring to the Coraline movie here as the book was from what I’m told and what saw when looking into it very terrifying),
2. The line “make everyone’s heart stop motion” relates to how Coraline is a stop motion movie,
3. She had the volpor( spelling!?) blade at the beheading
4. She did the countdown like how the other mother did when getting Coraline to apologise,
There are many others but don’t want to bombard the comment lol and I do admit that Coraline had good lines like the Alice cooper line and diss of the Tim Burton film( with I don’t like ever) but I think Alice had better lines.
Notice how at 10:34 Alice says Caroline instead of Coraline

It was, also when she said "your fame passed faster" it's a reference to the same director dying from cancer I think and he couldn't afford the treatment. It's a really harsh line when you know what it means

My favorite burn in this whole battle is the subtle "Caroline" from Alice on her very last bar.
Explination- Coraline repeatedly corrects people on her name throughout the movie from CARoline to CORaline
Alice and the wonderland was also about acid. I think that was a reference to when Caroline said Alice and the wonderland syndrome. Because acid was pretty big in the late 50s and 60s

I really like the Brunette Alice reference. Though tbh, I was hoping for a more direct and subtle reference to American McGee's Alice background but I'll take what I can get here.

I noticed that Alice said dollface, as a reference to the Coraline doll that was made in the beginning of the movie. I also noticed that they counted to 3 as a reference to the 3 ghost children and their eyes. And coraline’s other mother counting to 3. So yeah-

I love actually watching reactors knowing their stuff ant taking time to explaining stuff. Besides being those common rap reactors that just focus on the bars and misreading the lyrics.
Fresh Kanal always has an exceptional bar. This one, I love the madder hatter part. I can't imagine how hard it was to write much less perform.

I'll reccomend a couple. Cinderlla vs Belle, Rapunzel vs Anna, and Dorothy vs Alice are great.

i was hoping this one first before the leatherface/Lecter battle.
Solid but you missed quite a few things so allow me to mention (some) of them
"All your magic potions." - Small reference to the "drink me" potion Alice takes and possibly the other substances she eat during her time in wonderland.
"A Circus in the Attic" - (Ok this was brought up but I feel like it needs a bit of an explanation) - Pink Palace in the film is separated into 3 apartments. Mr Bobinsky lives in the attic who he claims to run a mouse circus.
"Time is buttered" - this is a subtle reference to the Mad Tea Party in which The Mad Hatter and March Hare try to fix the White Rabbit's watch one of the thing they use is butter, thus buttered time.
"The theatre's put your fame under the basement." - As stated above Pink Palace is 3 apartments the basement apartment is occupied by Ms Spink and Forcible, two retired theatre actresses. Possible reference to the film where Other Spink and Forcible have an actual theatre in the basement.
"You've locked the door, Coraline be careful what you wish for." - Coraline travel between the Other world and her world through a door in both film and book. The other world gives her all her wishes in the beginning. Near the climax of the film Coraline locks the door to prevent the other mother from trying to take her.

I'd say Coraline killed herself with the Alice in Wonderland Syndrome line, seeing as Alice's brand WILL continue to grow, and that there is no way Coraline will ever be bigger and more iconic than Alice, proving that Coraline's the one with Alice in Wonderland Syndrome as she's clearly losing touch with reality.
Also, finally! Someone else who thinks Alice won.
I see it the other way around, Alice killed herself calling Coraline a schizophrenic since she's the one who inspired an entire syndrome, and they both have a fair point, Coraline probably won't outlive Alice but Alice's popularity statistically at least is NOT growing, it's static to shrinking, you simply need to ask people from the 90s and 2010s to see how Alice is remembered but not as appreciated.

The Grinch vs. Ebenezer Scrooge just dropped a few days ago by Freshy and it's super good. Leatherface by Hannibal Lecter is also great. I'd also recommend Pennywise vs. Freddy Krueger and Wonder Woman vs. Daenerys Targaryen.

Henry sellick (idk if that’s how you spell his last name) directed coraline. Tim burton didn’t direct it, but he directed other famous stop-motion movies (nightmare before Christmas, the corpse bride, etc.)

Christen stories such as alice in wonderland and the grim fairytale were allowed to be a lot darker and much more gruesome compared to modern days. You say people are a lot less tolerable back then but modern day make watered down versions of the original stories, some that have murder, torture, and rape in them.

Yes The Stone is called an Adder Stone, It's a Stone with a Natural hole in it. And like you said it is sort of the Looking glass of Coraline, it's used for finding Lost things Before The Beldam Destroys it, And Coraline uses it to locate the lost souls of the Ghost Children. Yeah I've never been to a Disney Theme Park, But even I know that the Teacups are the Alice Ride. Yeah I'd hate to say it, but it looks like Dakota Fanning won, But like you said it was Close, And Hey it's Your Channel so if you want Alice, Then Okay.
