This speech had helped me a lot through the recent passing of my father. He was only 52. We loved the Rocky movies and this speech specifically. Hits much harder now.
I want you to know, you're not alone. My own father suffered depression in later life and growing up I felt he was angry all the time and I would stay out of his way as a late teenager. I don't think we ever really talked and one of the last conversations I had with him, I was angry. And I carried some regret about that. He died relatively young at 60, nearly 20 years ago and though I lost someone that protected me and loved me and life changed, I was never ever without him and still am not and if there's one thing to look forward to in later life, its reuniting again. So I say to you, stranger, he'll always be with you, keep fighting.
May happiness and love never find you forgotten. And may you never forget happiness and love. Mickey loves us. We're not done fighting, until we're done fighting. "I didn't hear no bell!"
This scene was inspired by an interview of Cus D’Amato talking about the young and uprising Mike Tyson and it’s delivered just as emotionally. Outstanding performance
Your right, it's about life, life is a struggle & I have been down many times, but his movies, even songs or other films have a way of resonating with you when you least expect it & probably need it most. Sly put so much heart into his Rocky role, it's why I love the films. The matches are the by product, but it's what happens prior to the fights, then the fight in the ring when he fights that does reach me deep inside. I don't like the whole Rocky 5 movie, but there are parts that I do, like this scene, and other ones too in this film.
My Grandfather stepped in for my biological father. And let me tell you; I will always be grateful to call him my Father even if it was for a short amount of time. Even if his time was short with me, it meant so much more than I could have ever imagined. RIP Rafael Sanchez Cortez.

I have never really paid attention to the music in this scene, but I agree with you after listening to it. Having watched this scene so many times I was always focused on what Rocky was doing and the conversation between he and Micky. The music just slowly floats in, especially after you hear Rock hit the bag a few times. I hope you find your Mick.
My father, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Malcom X, Muhammad Ali, and Rocky. My heroes. It’s amazing how Rocky is the only one that is not a real person. That’s how special Rocky is.

Mickey is the grandfather you had. He's also the grandfather you never had. The grandfather you wished you knew. Damn, this scene hits right to the soul.
In the space of nine months i lost my wife my younger brother and the sight in my left eye but i revisit these rocky films and they still give me a reason to live and i am so lucky that i mey met my now gorgeous wife Beverley who we are still blissfully happy what a film series x
Boxing truly is the best metaphor for life. You take so many punches along the way (loved ones dying, friends disappearing, financial troubles, healthetc...) , and you get the point where you ask yourself "Why continue fighting, taking a beating". I think most of us continue on, hoping we land that one big punch that will turn it all around.
STALLONE HAD...Some of the greatest writers help him with real life lessons that are honestly true and hard to put into words....What Mickey said is so true ..When you get older, if you have no purpose in life, why even continue living....ALSO in The Balboa movie was another true to life quote where he talks to his son on how winning is done...BRAVO
I think it's why Rocky said the lines in this film, because it was so heart warning. It's why they probabaly wrote it into the script. So glad they did because love this scene.
@@ruiyan4884 that's right and the documentary on Tyson was also made before his Pro career started. I think it was about 1982 or 1983. Tyson was 15 or 16.
As a man that has lived it rough and Is now doing well. Lately been feeling knocked down and embarrassed and felt like watching this today. “Get up you Son of a bitch!!” Cus Mickey (Angel) loves you..

Now matter how big you are, Life can always hit you with an unexpected circumstance... that's when you need to tell youself "GET UP YA SON OF A , CAUSE MICKEY LOVES YA!" Much Love Everyone. Thank you for posting this!
Maybe I am the only one that heard this differently- “little by little we lose our friends, we lose everything, we keep losing and losing until one day-what the hell am I living around here for..I got no reason for living anymore” - This actually made me very sad- as most of us won’t have a Rocky to hang on for…
Mickey is the angel we all pray is watching over us. Threw the easy life and the hard times. Let’s pray Mickey will kick our ass into gear and make something of ourselves.
I watch this at least twice a week if possible. Keeps me going when sometimes I don’t feel like keeping on going.. Getting old sucks, but if only we all had a Mic on our shoulder.
This is so powerful! The power of love is universal. It breaks all boundaries, all barriers. This is exactly what the Apostle Paul was telling young man Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:18 "Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier (remember who you are. remember your calling). May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles."
This speech although motivating, was beautiful and sad, it made me think of my dad and mom, who passed away, and ..alone watching this,I started to cry.
#METOO I am 67 and miss so many family members that have past. I light candles at church and say Our Father, Hail Mary & Glory be". It makes me happy & cry at the same time. My Uncle the Sea Captain was my Mickey, I was born sickly with deformities and he was the closet thing to a real friend in my life. Always building me up telling me to work hard in school because I was smart . I wish we could go to dinner and talk.
Mickey's speech reminds me a lot of an interview where Cus D'Amato talked about his motivation for living to see the young Mike Tyson achieve his potential. Great speeches by great coaches for great fighters.
I must have watched this dozens of times and each time I reach for a tissue. I think of my Father or Mother, who would teach me wisdom ,whenever I needed it, more times then I could remember. Miss you both so much, more than words can ever say.

Beautiful scene. I went from crying to laughing. I love the ending "I don't know he only give me one, he gave it to some bum."
🥲
The other “bum” was Apollo if you go back to the second one he has it.
Did this moment every bring anyone else to tears besides me?
Everytime! Every god damn time...."GET UP YOU SON OF A BITCH!!!, Cause mickey loves ya"
No man im right there with you
Mickey's words of wisdom stay true even now
Not really but it gives me chills when he says the part about he angel on the shoulder and getting up

This speech from Mickey could make literally any man cry.
YOU SEE YOURSELF DOING RIGHT, AND YOULL DO RIGHT........THIS WHOLE ENTIRE SCENE ALWAYS GETS ME.
This is not a scene. It's things Mike Tysons trainer said to him.
I swear this scene makes me cry my EYES OUT!! God bless you Mickey.
Me too
😢😢😢
Same 🥺
Mickey's speech still motivates me in 2021!
One of the most touching scenes about older life, in life.
It's impossible to hold on the tears, simply amazing!!!
This scene is epic. And why I watch Rocky time and time again.
Reminds me of my grand pop. RIP, grand pop. You're guidance and unwavering toughness made this South Jersey boy's military career as a Green Beret successful. Our nation also owes you a debt of gratitude.
Adamsra2000 thank you for your service. Green beret. You're a great one.
Stallone is such an awesome actor. And Burgess Meredith played so well in the Rocky movies as a real father figure to Rock.
Burgess Meredith was an amazing actor and person.
Hands down the most motivational speech ever. Got a fight in a few weeks and I play this over n over. A tear rolls down my face n I think of my family then I think of the win. Thank you for the rocky movies
@@philip4882 I guess not.
One of the most heartwarming and inspirational movie scenes in cinema history !
I’m gonna be completely honest the music does it for me and I’d do anything for a friend like Mick we love you Rock!
The musical score in all the Rocky films is on point! Amazing.
Cus said these exact words to Mike Tyson
I have never really paid attention to the music in this scene, but I agree with you after listening to it. Having watched this scene so many times I was always focused on what Rocky was doing and the conversation between he and Micky. The music just slowly floats in, especially after you hear Rock hit the bag a few times. I hope you find your Mick.
My father, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Malcom X, Muhammad Ali, and Rocky. My heroes. It’s amazing how Rocky is the only one that is not a real person. That’s how special Rocky is.
@@thetruth3316 there's no doubt he did
Motivization. Mickey was the best.
Sly, thanks for making the Rocky movies, can watch them over and over again. It was one of those passage into manhood movies where you get the kick in the ass you needed with a touch of love.
There has never been a fictional character more inspirational than Rocky Balboa
This literally reduces me to tears every time
Say no to the great reset
Seen this a million times. Chokes me up every single time
A tear in my eye , that’s how good this clip is ❤️
I'm a 48 single dad raising a 4year old son,for the moment were apart and it hurts us both but Everytime I see Mickey speak to Rocky it encourages me becuase my son is my reason for going forward work hard to make a better life for ourselves and to give my son a chance at life.
Every time I watch this clip I cry!!! Boy what we all could do with a “Mickey” in our corner!!!!
10S Coach like right now as a matter of fact
I was young once too. - This is the most powerful line you'll ever hear from a man who's at terms with himself.
When I was going through chemo, I always envisioned my dad telling me this. Mickey is the father that we all need. 💙
Man this scene makes me cry every time I see it...
Micky was the man, gutted when he died in rocky 3
Chris Clark fuckin Clubber Lang
Mickey is the grandfather you had. He's also the grandfather you never had. The grandfather you wished you knew. Damn, this scene hits right to the soul.
Hello Jimmy 👋👋 Hoa are you doing and how's the weather condition over there ..?

@@karenk6985 that's actually nice to know. Where are you chatting from ?
In the space of nine months i lost my wife my younger brother and the sight in my left eye but i revisit these rocky films and they still give me a reason to live and i am so lucky that i mey met my now gorgeous wife Beverley who we are still blissfully happy what a film series x
One of the most beautiful motivational and endearing speeches..love you Mickey ❤
The greatest motivational movie of all time .
A great actor that said it all no 1
...Rocky V? No.
Motivizational 😏
These mfing Rocky clips always brings the rain.
I remember crying to this scene as a young boy, say 18 years ago.
STALLONE HAD...Some of the greatest writers help him with real life lessons that are honestly true and hard to put into words....What Mickey said is so true ..When you get older, if you have no purpose in life, why even continue living....ALSO in The Balboa movie was another true to life quote where he talks to his son on how winning is done...BRAVO
he wrote all the rocky movies himself.
Stalone has got talent really to write man deep feeling . I do like it. Never will die this words.
What Mickey said abt motivation to live was verbatim from an interview of cus d’amato talking abt mike Tyson. It’s great
This scene is pretty much lifted from a statement made by Cus D’Amato about Mike Tyson for a documentary made in the 80s.
I think it's why Rocky said the lines in this film, because it was so heart warning. It's why they probabaly wrote it into the script. So glad they did because love this scene.
and brilliantly done. Slipped in perfectly..
first 3 rocky films came out BEFORE tyson begins his pro boxing career...But ok
@@ruiyan4884 that's right and the documentary on Tyson was also made before his Pro career started. I think it was about 1982 or 1983. Tyson was 15 or 16.

No matter who you are this scene hits deep...wise words Mickey
As a man that has lived it rough and Is now doing well. Lately been feeling knocked down and embarrassed and felt like watching this today. “Get up you Son of a bitch!!” Cus Mickey (Angel) loves you..
Makes me realize/recognize all of the “Angels” in my life. My Parents, guardians and caretakers......the people who carried me when I couldn’t fend for myself. Forever grateful.
This scene gives me goosebumps... The emotions are beyond pure & genuine... I teared up watching this... My Bjj sensei Robert Follis took his own life, this video is everything.. Now matter how big you are, Life can always hit you with an unexpected circumstance... that's when you need to tell youself "GET UP YA SON OF A , CAUSE MICKEY LOVES YA!" Much Love Everyone. Thank you for posting this!
Bjj? Phoney & bullshido!
@@surenotejas3163 How is jiu jitsu phoney? Please explain.
Maybe I am the only one that heard this differently- “little by little we lose our friends, we lose everything, we keep losing and losing until one day-what the hell am I living around here for..I got no reason for living anymore” - This actually made me very sad- as most of us won’t have a Rocky to hang on for…
I'm not crying you are! This scene is so powerful.
This sounds like the motivation thing Mike tyson trainer told him in a interview like exactly
This, this right here. Never give up. Thank God for this. Still pushes me today.
This is so powerful! The power of love is universal. It breaks all boundaries, all barriers. This is exactly what the Apostle Paul was telling young man Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:18
"Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier (remember who you are. remember your calling). May they help you fight well in the Lord’s battles."
I listen to this over over again. It breaks my heart and also repairs it ✊❤️🙏
Mee to
It’s hard for me to watch this without getting emotional!! This hits SO many things in my life!!! 🙏
Right
This speech although motivating, was beautiful and sad, it made me think of my dad and mom, who passed away, and ..alone watching this,I started to cry.
I always cry at this scene not matter what.
This scene always hits the feels hard every time i see it.
a random frog yes I’m here too feeling it too
To how Mickey was to rocky my grandfather was to me, I miss him every day every month and every year that has gone by, I wish he was still here.
God bless everyone that found there way here 🕊️
Mickey's speech reminds me a lot of an interview where Cus D'Amato talked about his motivation for living to see the young Mike Tyson achieve his potential. Great speeches by great coaches for great fighters.
That's where sylvester stalone got it from my friend its based on cus damato wisewisdom
This speech is real talk to us all
I must have watched this dozens of times and each time I reach for a tissue. I think of my Father or Mother, who would teach me wisdom ,whenever I needed it, more times then I could remember. Miss you both so much, more than words can ever say.
Played this before my first Golden Gloves & won in the first round!
#Emotional🇮🇹
This whole scene is so emotional but the part where Rocky says "natures smarter than people think" absolutely breaks me in half every time.
First time I saw this scene in the theater, I cried..every single time since.
