It takes me 2 days to mow 18 fairways on the course I work😂😂. Last week there was a stunning stunning girl walking her dog, cut about 2 metres in to the rough

This is soo cool! I was one of the people waiting to cross 15, pretty sure I can see myself at the very end there with my dad haha. Thanks for posting, its quite the experience seeing the work that goes into that place.
It's amazing how people in the comments actually have negative things to say about this video. It's what the national has been doing for years. Obviously it works and who cares how much it costs! Patrons will gladly pay thousands to see a course where you can literally eat off the fairways and greens. It may be overkill but it's what people pay to see. This is only done during tournament week and leading up to tourney week.
I've worked on private courses and had about 20 to 25 people in the summer and about 12 in winter. Public courses most I've ran as a assistant superintendent was 15, full 18 course, but only 4 in winter. The least I ran was 2 guys and me on par 3 nine course. Most courses can't afford anything like this and most of those mowers I'm sure are on loan from a dealer. I've done that several times, during real early tournaments.
great catch...!!! never seen that many out at once before..... * they obviously know what they need to do to get the job done quickly....thumbs up from... 1FM Lake George, NY
Sll All the fairways are mowed from the green to the tee. They want the grass blade facing the golfer.helps with the roll of the ball slowing the roll of the ball
The Phantom we have really long and wide fairways he flys pretty quick but we got a new mower yesterday that enables him to only go 8mph Instead of our older ones would go 10 or 11
The Phantom yes we stripe the fairways but no offense too him he doesn’t do the greatest job because he goes too fast and turns around to tight and often scalps on the clean up laps the only reason we have him is because it saves so much time
Depends who's providing the free mowing equipment. They do have, and use John Deere and Ransome mowing equipment on the course. Toro and Augusta Nat GC have had long standing relationship for about 60 years now...anything Toro makes, Mowing Equipment or Irrigation equipment is "tried out' at Augusta National. I was the Toro Irrigation Equipment Rep for that area of Georgia from 1984 to 1990. I was there every two weeks discussing new trends in design and uses for their irrigation system. It was an honor to work with such wonderful people at Augusta and to be volunteer for the week of the Masters during those years.
Well, when it costs $10k a year to be a member, $250,000 just to be initiated, and then they sell hundreds of thousands of tickets, merch items, and concessions during the masters, I think they can afford it ;^)
You forgot the world wide television rights as well. Actually no one knows exactly how much it costs to get in because those numbers are not released publicly.
ANGC makes nothing from the members - the TV rights pay for everything. Membership is less than $25,000 to join - but of course you need to be invited!
This one the most prestigious golf courses in the world and just because you got money doesn’t mean you get a membership bill gates been trying to get a membership for four years now and they just finally excepted it is. They have 316 members to be exact that 25.
I love golf and I am a greenkeeper in England but it's getting to the point where only the rich can afford to play its £150 pound to play where I work no golf course should be that expensive they want more people to play the game but they make it hard for ordinary folk to play cause it's so expensive
what a plonker rodney I can definitely agree with that!! Golf is the most expensive game I've ever played. Easily! And if you're not good it takes the fun out of it so you can get tempted to quit or spend money on lessons which are expensive as well. I think that's why golf has a tough time gaining interest. I love the game too and I've seen people come and go as well as courses in my area. This isn't like basketball or tennis where there's a free court at your local park so you can't really practice unless you go to the golf course and pay.
This is such ridiculous "over-kill "! 2 fairway mowers per 9 holes is plenty ! I realize they want to mow everything down grain in a very short period of time , but at 3/8"..... approach shots are not effected with the ball lying into the grain......especially with soft rye grass on the fairways. It might be different if it was stiff Zoysia , Kikuyu, or Paspalum, but not limp ryegrass !
Ya, thats the reason , but there is no reason to do it that fast! I was on the crew at TPC Scottsdale , and for the tournament me didn't have near that many mowers.
Dude, they have like 2 hrs to mow 18 holes olus practice facilities. You can't do it with 4!!! They make 1 pass on each hole and it still takes them 15 mins on larger holes and daily finish with lights on. If they had 4 mowers, it would look like your GC, but this is Agusta! !
This is only for major tournaments. There is no time to cut the entire course. Toro sends in a fleet of machinery for advertisement and to get the work done quickly. These machines have 14 gallon fuel tanks. We have 3 at work that cut 18 fairways. When they are finished they use about a 1/4 of a tank. And all newer equipment has tier 4 emissions. I'd say this aspect of the game has come a long way.
"Lawnmower 10 this is lawnmower leader...you are out of formation! We need to tighten it up! Lawnmower leader out!"

Beautiful! That's a ballet. Love golf course work.
The latest toro fwy mowers cost $70,000. 17 at that price is over a million.
Augusta National has a sponsorship deal with Toro. Take all you want pretty much.
I wish I could play a round of golf there. Yeah I know... in my dreams.

The blue angels of the mowing world. A new olympic sport syncronised mowing i say yes please! 😍
What i love about that is when the grounds crew arrived, the golfers stopped. You dont see that in the UK...
No fancy striping when mowed this way. But it certainly gets the job done.
moving like a well oiled machine

This has to be what they mean by the green new deal.
lol we use 2 at a time these days I thought that was fancy....

The Phantom but now we have a new toro 5410 that only goes 8mph and he finishes around 1:00 now with the new mower also we have 24 acres of fairways
Looks like they have done this once or twice, Pretty cool!

Yep.

Why does the pine straw look so brown, has it been sprayed?

you'd think Augusta would use John Deere (green and yellow) rather than Toro (red)

Toro is superior
lmfao I wish I had a doob just for this. that's 16 reelmasters
And the mechanic probably has to grind and set the height on each reel daily too.
The Toro Co is there every year with new mowers and technicians - very little if any cost to ANGC
I’m sure they have more than one mechanic.
