Been hoping for this since forever. The Wild are diseased and a total rebrand is justified. Despite understanding why some folks would say "i'm stuck in the past," I just can't help but feel such love for the North Star logo, colors, jersey...it feels special to me. My memories of the North Stars are feint at best (born in 83), but they somehow feel like part of me. All that is to say, a rebrand is about the only thing that would get me remotely interested in this club right now. At this exact moment, I'd say the Timberwolves have stolen my heart whereas the wild feel like they took it for granted.
yea I'm 40 as well, i hate the north stars. . . . one effing run that i can remember, then they were basically trash the rest of the time. there was a reason we weren't watching them. . . . . and then they left and finally won a cup, for Texas. . . . .phuck the stars
Absolutely fucking not. While I dont think North Stars colors are trash, switching to a non-sensical colors scheme would be a big misstep. The idea is completely silly with the “Wild” branding, and forest green should always be the foundation. Also, while I get people don’t like “Christmas colors”, there are plenty of other ways of dealing with that without leaning haphazardly into nostalgia for a completely different brand/company/franchise. It would help like Toronto’s team moving to Vegas, them being called the Golden Knights, but people being nostalgic for Blue and White. A reverse retro is fine, but branding and color should follow the team name.
Why not just the North Stars? There's no reason we can't have the Dallas Stars and the Minnesota North Stars. In MLB we have the White Sox and the Red Sox. Nobody gets them confused. And with different cities, logos, and color schemes, neither "Stars" team would be encroaching on the other in terms of merchandise sales.
Here's a thought because I think it needs to be said... All we need is yet another bunch of misguided drunken fans disrespecting our National Anthem by yelling "STARS" during it like the Dallas drunks!!! I could throw a brick thru my TV when these cultists and the asinine Vegas drunks shout "KNIGHTS" during our Anthem!!! Our Anthem has absolutely ZERO to do with their team! I wish the league would make a statement about it because it is a kick in the teeth of patriots that died and bleed for this country, only for them to drunkenly use "free speech" to bastardize and disgrace our National Anthem with it!!!
FYI The Sabres do not need a goalie. UPL developed into a top flight goalie this year, and Levi is on the way. On unis, fond memories of the North Stars, and the green and gold is one of the best color combos in sports

The Wild logo is great. The colors look like a mix between Krispy Kreme and the Packers. Hard no for me. I own a Wild seater - but it’s the red one. Wild really need to get away from those green/gold/red colors.
Obsession with nostalgia prevents people places and things from evolving. The Wild were created as a forced evolution of the north stars, and now that nostalgia sells suddenly obsession with the past reigns supreme. I believe that someone within the wild may have leaked the story to gauge public reaction, as it got everyone talking and giving opinions without the team having to commit one way or the other. With that said i sincerely hope the wild don't muddy their brand by becoming diet north stars, rather i want them to lean further into the theming of the wilderness, as it is a part of what makes Minnesota unique
Bring back the maroon home jerseys as the main, full green as the main alt and the north stars jersey as a special alt for rival & national broadcast games.
Given the GD state of Florida has more success in the NHL playoffs than the Wild, perhaps the rebranding should start with the whole ‘State of Hockey’ claim. Look, the first step is admitting there’s a problem. Minnesota isn’t the State of Hockey anymore.🤷🏻♂️
This is akin to saying that Texas iisn't great football state solely because the Cowboys or Texans are having a mediocre year. The claim of being the "State of Hockey" has nothing to do with the performance of our professional team and everything to do with the game's importance to our state's culture. Youth leagues thrive here, as does pond hockey, and adult recreational leagues are abundant. We have schools and academies whose hockey programs attract upcoming talent globally, and the high school hockey tournament here is massive-smaller school games draw numbers that the Panthers could only hope to achieve. Additionally, the state hosts 6 Division I programs and numerous Division III and other college-level programs. Consider also the number of Minnesota-born and raised players in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, and other leagues globally. For a state with just under 6 million people, we produce a disproportionate amount of hockey talent. Many players from other areas pass through Minnesota at some point in their developmental journey. If we focus on NHL numbers, the Wild's regular season attendance averages over 100% of capacity most seasons, showing that even in less successful years, our fans still show up and are willing to stand just to watch a whole game. In contrast, the Panthers reached up to 96% capacity in their best year, with much lower figures in previous seasons. When factoring in the history of free ticket distribution and counting those as attendance, the Panthers' arena can seem relatively empty in comparison.
Connecting the dots where nobody would be lying I wonder if they aren't going to a full rebrand but will get permission to use North Stars jerseys as an alternate
Trading rossi to go up 5 spots in the draft should be a firable offense by the gm ... that'd be nasty & isn't helping convince kirill to sign a extension eventually id keep the sure thing over praying whoever you draft actually Pam's out to be better then current rossi not to mention its extremely like rossi improves going forward so unless that draft pick ends up a star it's gonna be a bad move
Yeah, I don't see a regression with Rossi either as hard as he's been working. Not flashy, but could be a key playoff guy some day ala Evan Rodrigues right now for FL.
LOL Who TF cares what their uniform looks like? I couldn't care less what they look like. I just want to see them hoist the Stanley Cup in before I die. And if they hoist it wearing tutus, more power to them!
It may seem like a small thing, but branding is always important. Branding affects the financials of a team, affect league attention and the reputation of a team, which in turn can affect how attractive it is for players to come here.
I dont want packers on ice. Also the name Wild is fine, North Stars is objectively cooler but would be awful today with the stars also in the league. And the Wild's logo is fantastic.
The name “Wild” is an extremely low level minor league team name. It’s not a major professional sports team name. Good for a summer ball Little League team.
No the name is awful that’s all. I never thought the name was dignified enough for our team. Sounds like the name of a C-Bantam team. The Indians and Redskins names should not have been cancelled.
