You're so right - better to prepare for the worst, and it never happen, than be unprepared. It's good to have protections in place anyway so this is super helpful!
This is SUPER useful. Btw, I love this sort of "hot-take" informative and down-to-earth style of content. You're seriously a diamond in the rough and I hope more people flock to your channel for both the light-hearted content and the more serious topics.
This is a FANTASTIC fucking video. It doesn't feel like the goal of this upload was to drive a point home, or to make folks scared of the future. It's a warning delivered with advice. If anyone is reading this comment while thinking if you *really* want to watch an hour long video on the economics of content creation I cannot urge you enough to get comfy, grab a drink, and watch the whole thing through. Props to you Kab, and of course, Zach as well.

I think the head of the agency that represents asmogold released a letter telling streamers and other creators to look for alternate income sources, such as investing more in their art if they do art.
Yeah, the youtube monetization didn't start hitting til early-mid 2010s, after the recession.

You're very true, Kab. Whether you're content creation, resources for content creators, or even just having a job, it is a priority to always cover your own ass. Not in a selfish way, but to simply look of what you need to cover for insurance or the likes. Budget yourself, and keep extra just in case with a turbulent economy.

Things are already weird here in Australia. Not just prices going up, but things disappearing from shelves in the grocery store. A lot of people are being a bit too dang complacent. The 2008 GFC was when my entire life flipped around and career completely changed.

when you were talking about cancelling subscriptions, i think these hard times are reflective on how people act and become more reliant on media. There's this aura from ads that basically says "You'll never be able to afford a house or start a family but at least you'll have DISNEY PLUS: THE EXCLUSIVE BABY YODA BUNDLE"
