New York, New York was written for Liza as the theme song for her 1977 movie of the same name. Frank Sinatra covered it a few years later. Liza and Michael Jackson were very good friends - she was a great dancer and they taught each other different moves. Liza worked with Bob Fosse many times and I believe Michael was influenced by Fosse's style so there's some cross over in their styles. That short pixie hair cut has been Liza's signature style for decades :)
She was famous before she was born. Her father was a top, famous director: Vincent Minnelli, and she has his eyes. And her mother was one of the greatest singers of all time: Judy Garland, and Lisa has her voice.
A living legend. An EGOT. Daughter of Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli. Beloved in the industry. One of the few who could sell out theatres no matter where she was. And one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Just nothing but talent, kindness, humor, and smart as hell.
Love Liza!! You should watch her singing Mein Herr or Cabaret from her movie Cabaret, which she won an Academy Award for best actress. Both are not live but Liza is a PERFORMER! I've also seen other performances of her singing this song which were amazing! :)
Liza has won the Tony many times starting in 1965 (age 19) for "Flora the Red Menace". She won the Oscar for "Cabaret" (1973) and of course, is Judy Garland's eldest child. She's also won the Emmy for "Liza with a Z" and also the Grammy , but I can't remember why she won the Grammy. I saw her 2x in concert....phenomenal.
Frank Sinatra thought so highly of her, she was made part of their Rat Pack! Hers was the very first concert that I went to, right after she won the Oscar for BEST ACTRESS for Cabaret!
Hey guys, you killed it with this reaction. This song means a lot to me as it was one of my mom's favorite songs. She is now in heaven. This song was written for Liza Minelli for the film "New York New York" and then many renditions by thousands of singers were released later, including Frank Sinatra. Liza owns this song. Truly no one else. I love the fact that the newer generations like yourselves can appreciate these timeless classics. I truly enjoyed this video and please keep them coming. P S.: Your facial gestures during the reaction were priceless.
Liza With a Z is one of her best concerts to watch & it's from the 70s. Seriously she gives it everything when she performs. Also Liza At Radio City Music Hall is phenomenal as well. The performance you watched is her at the top of her game & in those 2 concerts she definitely gives her all. She's basically old hollywood royalty with her father being one of the best directors and her mother being the most iconic performer of her time, she also happens to be Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz! With a background like that it's still amazing she managed to come out from under their shadows and make a Legend of herself. This was a great react and a pleasure to watch!
Liza Minnelli is the daughter of Judy Garland. Judy Garland was one of the best singers of the 20th century. Liza was in "Cabaret". You ought to listen to her in Cabaret.
As a Liza fan I love this vid. Liza is the original singer of New York, New York. Her uncle Frank Sinatra made it a smash hit a few years later when he covered it.
New York New York is originally Liza’s song. Frank Sinatra covered it. Liza is Judy Garland ‘s(Dorothy from the wizard of Oz movie) daughter. Liza was also really good friends with Michael Jackson
No one can mess with Liza Minelli, who is one of Judy Garland's Daughters. Watch the movie musical from 1977 New York, New York. She was the original one who did the song. Frank did it 2 years later in 1979. Liza owns this song a far as I'm concerned esp if you watch the ned of the movie where she sings it when she was younger. Any age she was , she killed it! Her sister Lorna is also a damn good singer.
You do realize that when you mentioned MJ her and Michaell were really good friends and he borrowed a lot of his theatrics from her Michaell absorbed everything and then made it his own
She's singing it for Frank Sinatra - Liza's mother was Judy Garland, a true star, who was friends with Frank Sinatra. Liza grew up knowing him and called him "Uncle Frank."
I love that you react 'blind' . Only way to do it. Nothing but respect here. But I hope you do a little bit of reading about Merman, Buckley, Minnelli etc afterwards. These some of the greats, and you deserve to know their legacy. She was a two time tony winner for Flora the Red Menace, and The Rink
I watched your faces, especially at the end of the song, and you guys were mesmerized. That, sirs, is the PERFECT reaction. Please react to Betty Buckley singing MEMORIES in the Broadway musical, CATS! --- Apology, guys, I see your already reacted to MEMORIES.
Liza was actually the first person to sing this song. It was written for her for the movie "New York, New York."
and when Sinatra recorded it he ruined it.
"she's very theatrical"
Youre god damn right she is, she's a star of stage and screen, Our dear Liza! ❤
Enjoyed you guy's reaction.
It's Liza's song, Sinatra did a (very famous) cover.

There's a reason why she is considered one of the all time

My brother got to see Liza perform live back in the '70s, and he was blown away. He said she was "a performer and a half"!
Congratulations for reacting to this singer!
And Black lives DO matter-(expletive) yes! I'm Gay and I'm NOT devaluing My Opinion!
Wonderful performance.
I’d love to see you do a reaction to Liza’s Mein Herr from Cabaret. PHENOMENAL!❤

This is Liza's song, originally and she was close friends with Michael Jackson. She is the daughter of Judy Garland, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.
A genuine, honest salute from three excellent young men for an American legend . . . .

Frank Sinatra was not her Uncle love
@@sallybannister6224 Obviously not literally. She used to call him “Uncle Frank”. He worked with both of her parents and she knew him all her life.
@@sallybannister6224 not biologically, but he was a close friend of her parents and she grew up calling him uncle.
Liza and MJ were actually close friends.
New York New York is originally Liza’s song. Frank Sinatra covered it. Liza is Judy Garland ‘s(Dorothy from the wizard of Oz movie) daughter. Liza was also really good friends with Michael Jackson

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Please do the original cast of Side Show...specifically the song "I will never leave you"
It's a good thing they changed the name of the city. New Amsterdam just wouldn't have rolled off the tongue.
Movies. Records. Broadway. But by far a Broadway performer.
video taken down----why?
Sinatra covered it. It waa her song. But she and MJ were close friends. Actor. Dancer. Vocal beast born of a equally voa beaat.
She sang it first in the movie
Y'all are brilliant!
U guys cute
Ute boyz
Judy garland daughter
They don't know much about music history....
