"This isn't about good or bad, this is about power. And who is allowed to use it." What are they taking about? Sith literally just want power for dominance, they don't care who uses it. They just want it for themselves.
The character who says that is, according to Wikipedia, "the leader of a coven of Force witches," so I'm not sure that she's Sith. It sounds like she's similar to the witch in Ahsoka. Also, I recall from plot rumors something about the witches believing that only women should wield the Force, so that could be what she's referring to.
The difference is that the writers are so busy doing self inserts that they also justify everything the hero thinks by making everyone around them more cruel or stupid.
A woman who wants to feel powerful only does so because she is a weak minded and miserly person. Seriously, met so many who are obsessed with being powerful and it's a huge red flag. Healthy men and women do not view their confidence and self-esteem through that lens. Only weak people lust for power.

ive been upset about Disney Star Wars and actually had some great laughs at their herendous work but after seein the Acolyte trailer and interviews im actuallly Sad AF now, it finally hit me its gone and never coming back, i finally lost the last ounce of hope and its gutted me
Prophetically, Forest Gump described this movie and its creator-writer, Leslye Headland: "Stupid is as stupid does." But it is significant that the Jedi Master tells the younglings to close their eyes. Headland knows quite a bit about how that can work, for that is what she did when she served as Harvey Weinstein's personal assistant. Of course, this is also where she learned that power took precedence over good and evil. She was Weinstein's attentive padawan.
I was contrasting the last 10 years of movie heroines to the LOTR scene with Eowyn vs the Witch King. She's totally overmatched and visibly terrified, but determined anyway. We admire her courage but wonder how she can possibly survive this, let alone prevail. Contrast this to the lastest crop of invincible girl bosses who are never seriously threatened and never show any kind of emotion for the audience to even care about them. The New Heroine embodies every aspect of toxic masculinity, yet we're told we're supposed to admire her. The movie shows us an unlikeable person who's impossible to relate to, but tells us she's a paragon of virtue we're supposed to relate to.
Good points, although we seem to admire all these male heroes that embody toxic masculinity. How much do people love Tony Stark even though toxic masculinity is his entire personality lol They're trying to make female leads strong by making them have the same traits as male heroes. Mon Mothma in Andor was an incredible lead - written as powerful and vulnerable.
Is stark toxic? Ok at the beggining yea, he is a weapon selling playboy. But trought the course of the series (which ends at the endgame btw) he becomes a proper role model with familly and who sacrifices himself for the good of entire universe. Its not bad (even more its really good) to see a character go trought development.@@matthewbrears2129

The bad fight choreography in all of Disney star wars is the saddest thing for me. Even if the plot is bad if the fights were fun that'd be something. This girl insisting on attacking with a knife (which doesn't even appear to be a vibroblade) and martial arts is ridiculous. She is trying to assassinate Jedi, no reason to be shy about using a saber at that point. Maul assassinated with a saber in the canon timeline before he fought on Tatooine.
@@achaudhari101 his point still stands though, attacking a jedi with a knife is...an odd weapon choice to say the least. Compared to what it takes for actual jedi killers and profissional bounty hunters to kill a jedi.
@@achaudhari101 So far in canon every jedi and sith from other eras earns a saber. If she is ear ing one I suppose that works but even Inquisitors were given sabers. I can only recall Savage not being given one when he was first operating under Dooku. Even Kylo, a dark Jedi, had a saber. Edit: My complaint is also that unless the dagger has a cortosis-weave or beskar she is using a weapon she can't even parry with. I'd rather use a electrostaff or stun baton at that point. Kung fu is not what I'd go with.
@@Cappuccino_Rabbit How is it an odd weapon of choice when we have seen knives in SW media before? I mean one of the SWTOR Trailers had one of the commanders try to use a knife against Darth Malagus and no one complained back then. Hell, one of the ROTS concept arts showed Padme brandishing a knife against Anakin. How come its only weird and unusual when Star Wars under Disney does something different whereas the EU gets a pass on the more unusual things? That's not being objective in a smart way, that's just being uneducated about the lore.

@@purefoldnz3070 Come on mate, you know what toxic is. It isn't complaining, complaining is fine as Star Wars is basically horrible now. There are many very prejudiced fans out there. They are not the majority but they are very loud.
it is never going to die out or go away till the money flow stops fully. I've long since canceled my Disney plus. I've given up on starwars content. I'll enjoy the expanded universe for all the good and bad that is as well as the first six films.
Stepping into morally grey areas without clear cut good vs evil existed in the Star Wars franchise for a long time and was the foundation of the success of the Old Republic games of expanded Star Wars. However it takes good writing skills to pull it off, bad writers and directors are more likely just to flip good/evil around, while congratulating themselves on how they subverted expectations.
Question.. As Harvey's personal secretary, why didn't Lesley get staffed overt he coals in media for enabling him? Similar to how Affleck and Tarantino were.
They know it's a flop. The day after the trailer released they were releasing other filler content to push it off their main page. I'd bet there are legal reasons for them moving forward with the release. Maybe they'll get sued if they don't. Maybe even if it sucks they'll make money somehow. Hollywood is weird that way - contracts and investor agreements.
If you were working on this, it must have been an odd experience. Did they call their casting person and say "we need a room full of kids for one scene. Make sure none of them are white males". Or did they get a normal diverse group and stick the white boys under masks? Are their camera people in that room thinking "well, that's a coincidence". Unless EVERYONE is onboard with the agenda, doesn't someone think "what are we doing?". Or is disney running an empire of fear where everyone is too afraid to question their higher ups or leak about their weird process? If someone is sending memos "oh, segregate the younglings.", how does that not register as kinda messed up. When disney hires reaches past 100 filmmakers with genre experience to hire a diverse arthouse director for a project (think 'the Eternals'), how does that fly even as a commercial decision?
The first thing that take me out of the setting in any Star Wars product is the costumes that have clearly never being worn before. Stars Wars worked because it looked lived in. Now its crease free and clean with to many folds and layers to actually move around in. Stop over complicating clothes. Just think how long it takes them to get dressed, which I'm 100% sure they cant do on their own.
There is a quote that suits Leslye Headland so eloquently. It goes like this, "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent." Qui-Gon said that, and I think he knows a little bit more about Star Wars than she does.
I would NOT want to be a fly on the wall in a writing room at Disney, because I am convinced that my brain would never recover from sheer level of cringe that is undoubtedly circulating in them
The line about power is very eye opening from the writers. When you think about all the bad faith politics going on in this time it becomes very obvious that none of it is about what they say, but about power. It’s not about anything other than usurping the perceived oppressors and becoming the oppressor in it’s place.
I’m so excited for this audio-visual medium to have lines where the characters tell us each other’s traits rather than show us and recap the plot every other scene.
Hi Nerdword! As a creative writer for fun myself, my theory is that there is a team of writers within the Disney walls, but they are creatively handcuffed, forced to tell the stories and make the characters their overlord, dictator like bosses want and can only live with it. That is appalling to this writer, because writers tell their best stories with no demands or conditions from otherwise. I am sure that the writers in Disney only need to be let off the leash to write great stories that become box office hits and right the sinking ship that is Hollywood, but nope, producers and executives who can’t write worth a darn hold them at gunpoint and insist to keep churning out garbage, completely oblivious to how this exact scenario is why Hollywood is sinking like the Titanic. If I were a writer in this scenario, I would walk out
Change the medium and dive into the Expanded Universe of Star Wars. I recommend the Thrawn trilogy starting with "Heir to the Empire" if you wish to know what comes after Episode VI.
@@seraphinberktold7087 the thrawn trilogy was the only good expanded serious, the rest was just a mess, especially when it came to the Solo children. The Yuzon Vong had potential but they fumbled it
The RUclips entertainment provided by this continuous flow of garbage really makes up for it though. Lucasfilm isn't ready for how bad this will perform, both on Disney+ and on store shelves.
If you are interested in an earlier form of the Sith, I suggest looking into the Old Republic Era. The time is many, many years years before the movie and its own direction, in the extended universe. Before Disney's acquisition, the old republic is a time of high tensions and battle between the Jedi and a much larger, not Rule of two, Sith force (a poor desceiption but highly recommend). MILES better than the high republic, which was created more recently post Disney acquisition. There is no war in the high republic, just some pirates and during an era that ruins the prequels and sequel movies. And the poor reception of the books, that could not break half a million on any book set during the high republic should be evident that this time is not interesting to people.
Writer: Hey, so I know we were given instructions not to read or watch anything Star Wars related when coming up for the story of this Star Wars show. However, I kind of got bored and decided to rewatch The Phantom Menace and found a canon issue with what we’re writing and with something that was said in that movie... Kathleen Kennedy: But did we meet the DEI quota? Writer: Hmmm, I don’t know, you’ll have to ask the casting team about that. Writer: ...................................................
@@jameswatson5807 There's nothing wrong with it...if you actually build the characters and worlds and give them motivation. Just having a character meet all the diversity requirements simply to check boxes is the problem. The same goes for the actors/directors/writers who are handed these positions with no qualifications. Acolyte director herself admitted she doesn't even know what she's doing and knows nothing about the Star Wars property. Then how on earth did she get the job? And of course, no DEI copy/paste character would be complete without massive plot armor and being completely overpowered, unless she's fighting another diverse woman, of course. There is absolutely no way you haven't noticed that literally EVERY single movie/series Disney has released the last several years has the same exact generic "girlbosses" who never lose a fight or face any adversity whatsoever. The U.S. is majority Caucasian, and the demographic of anything comic/sci-fi/video game related is overwhelmingly male, and yet there's almost nobody to be found in these movies that reflects that demographic. 5:10 "Remember the days of heroism...." Oh, the current "far woke" writers and directors have not forgotten heroism. They're all in favour of heroically doing the right thing. What has changed now, is that they see THEMSELVES as the heroes. They see the unhappy audience as the villains (and they're quick to say so). They see each script as a light-saber, a weapon that they wield, slashing at the forces of patriarchy and inequity. They see poor box-office returns as the inevitable wounds of combat. Not to be heeded. A hero doesn't stop fighting when injured.
Excellent! New subscriber because of this review. Totally tired of seeing Hollywood's propaganda and proud of RUclips content providers calling all of this out.
The problem with all entertainment media today is everyone lacks one core ingredient Passion From the actors delivering damp squibb lines To the writers writing the hollow crap To the directors allowing such bland meandering dialogue and concepts in their own productions To even the studios allowing this drab lifeless husk of a shell to be made with their money It all lacks passion and everyone is just their for the paycheck And that is why these once great iconic franchises are dead now Cause the passionn is gone And so is the talent But thats a different reason
This is propaganda at its worst. Most "Propaganda" is suppose to be subtle and make you think to their side maybe right. Most modern writers, atleast for TV shows can't write subtly anymore. I don't think most modern writers for Disney have not been to any form of "writing classes"

2:14 I actually think she is "The Acolyte" of the show, i think she is trained by that Japanese guy who plays that Jedi Master, i'm guessing the show will open in a flashback, i read there's like this band of witches type characters in this show, and if you look at how that actress is dressed there, she has this Bandit/witch/assassin type look to her. I read that her and that other actress Dafne Keen play Sisters, so i'm guessing the show will open up where Dafne Keen's character is the sister who gets taken by the Japanese guy, picked up on the account she's force sensitive; while this assassin looking woman, she's the sister that get's left behind. This is where i think showrunner Leslie Headland will push this whole "Propaganda" in her Acolyte show, where the Jedi Order will be seen as Bad because that Jedi master too this woman's sister to be trained as a child. Years later, both sisters are grown up, one's become a Jedi, she meets up with her old master, played by that Japanese guy (sorry i just don't know the names of any of these actors cause i've never seen them in anything before, i heard that Japanese guy was in squid-game but have never seen that too, i know i'm boring, i'm mainly just into Starwars). So this sister who grew up with these Bandit-like witch coven, she's all traumatised by being left behind and split up from her twin sister, so she seeks revenge and gets trained by some Sith to become their "Acolyte". She's trained to be this "Strong Female" badass in the arts, and that's who we basically see in the trailer, going out and killing Jedi. She is the Assassin character seen fighting Trinity from the Matrix, who i also think was there with the Japanese Jedi master dude in the opening flashback, when they both came to take the young girl, Dafnee Keen's character. The main thing i think many starwars fans are wary and concerned about is how exactly Leslie Headland will screw around with established LORE. Leslie Headland has said in interviews that she and her story group writers "borrowed from the EU". So think basically what they've done is they just poached *Darth Plagueis* from his own EU novel (of the same name), written by Author James Luceno. In that now - Non-Canon novel, Darth Plagueis teaches his young apprentice a young Shiev Palpatine in the darkside of the Force, while operating in the shadows and no one ever knowing the truth about Darth Plagueis being a Sith Lord. Some Jedi do find out his true identity and the novel does a good job of showing how he was able to never let those Jedi get the truth out (basically they were killed). This is exactly what i believe Leslie Headland has stole for her Acolyte show, i even believe Plagueis will appear as THE *Sith* in question, a Thanos level CGI villain, who is basically manipulating things from behind the scenes, from afar; abducting some Jedi and tempting them over to the darkside, possibly turning them into "Dark Jedi" making them question the very Jedi Order during this time, 100 years out from the prequel trilogy. This is where the whole Propaganda will kick in, and the show will starting posing the questions asking - "is it really the Jedi Order who are no different from the Sith?" From here, that Japanese dude goes out investigating these deaths of a number of Jedi, he teams up with his own padawan, played by Defne Keen (i know and recognize her because she played a pretty good X-23 from the movie logan, remember that). Eventually the two will come across this black woman who is the assassin, and twin sister of Dafne Keen's Jedi character. I also think Leslie Headland will Character Assassinate Yoda in her series, because Yoda would undoubtedly be around somewhere during this time, and so Leslie will make him into some complacent Grandmaster, who actually learns the truth, about the Sith's return, in the form of Darth Plageuis, and Yoda learns about a number of Jedi who Plagueis turned to the darkside and/or trained to be his Acolytes, assassins to hunt down other Jedi. Instead of confronting Plagueis head on with all his order, Leslie and her Lucasfilm Story-group will "subvert" and make it where Yoda chooses to bury this truth, and cover it all up. That's pretty much gonna be the final scene you see at the end of the trailer; it will lead to somekind of showdown, where a number of Jedi are killed, doing battle with Plagueis Acolytes; resulting in practically all of them killing eachother in one big battle. Yoda (obviously) survives, so does Plagueis who retreats back into the shadows and is never found or heard of again; where he ofcourse eventually goes on to train Palpatine to become "Darth Sidious" when we get to Episode One The Phantom Menace. The clues to all of these things are pretty much in the Acolyte trailer if you piece it all together, also the fact Disney are re-releasing the starwars prequels this May for one time only; and each movie will show a "Sneak Peak" of The Acolyte too, i think is one big clue this is what it all is and Plagueis will make his big, live-action debut.
Remember, the USSR continued with its ideology-based economy until it collapsed. Critics stating the most obvious truths were dealt with via persecution and imprisonment. Extremists don't stop what they are doing or change course.

The thing missing from Disney Star Wars--besides competent writing--is the "wow" factor. I distinctly remember seeing Episode III in the theater and that opening shot, where Anakin and Obi-Wan dive their fighters over the edge of a battleship into the mayhem above Coruscant. A young boy was sitting in front of me and suddenly exclaimed "Whhoooaaa!" We all smiled, laughed, and clapped because, yes, "WHOA" indeed!
How much do people love Tony Stark even though toxic masculinity is his entire personality lol
They're trying to make female leads strong by making them have the same traits as male heroes.

Not every Acolyte uses a lightsaber, genius. Don’t make up complaints out of not understanding the lore.

Hollywood is weird that way - contracts and investor agreements.
I love how they never learn, truly remarkable
Learning from mistakes is hard, apparently, especially for Modern Disney

The line about power is very eye opening from the writers. When you think about all the bad faith politics going on in this time it becomes very obvious that none of it is about what they say, but about power. It’s not about anything other than usurping the perceived oppressors and becoming the oppressor in it’s place.
They keep writing to affect the audience, they should be writing to affect the story

Oh, the current "far woke" writers and directors have not forgotten heroism.

Passion
From the actors delivering damp squibb lines
To the writers writing the hollow crap
To the directors allowing such bland meandering dialogue and concepts in their own productions
To even the studios allowing this drab lifeless husk of a shell to be made with their money

Nah I'm good with out this Felbergarb Frakking show from the FORCE AM FEMALE story group. You the group that Brought us GEODE tha Rock Navigata and Dino Riding Jedi..!
This is not Star Wars .Its over .
This is where the whole Propaganda will kick in, and the show will starting posing the questions asking - "is it really the Jedi Order who are no different from the Sith?"
From here, that Japanese dude goes out investigating these deaths of a number of Jedi, he teams up with his own padawan, played by Defne Keen (i know and recognize her because she played a pretty good X-23 from the movie logan, remember that).

The thing missing from Disney Star Wars--besides competent writing--is the "wow" factor.
