    my little brother and I became friends with the original Blink boys back in 95 ish at least before the Dude Ranch album, I heard the song M&M's off a Liberation Records comp and they had their address in the insert so i wrote a letter and sent them our demo tape along with a sticker of our band, the address belonged to Mark Hoppus so he wrote me back and told me they were playing in Austin Tx in a month and if we wanted he would put us n the guest list, Austin is about 1 1/2 hours away from me because I live in San Antonio Tx so we went up there and when we walked up to the show venue Mark,Tom, and Scott were all just sitting in their van and no one knew who they were . We became friends and kept in touch and we were actually supposed to open up for them the next year for the Dude Ranch tour but the booking agent got his buddies to open instead, Blink also brought their buddies for that tour which turned out to be Unwritten Law! My brother's and I were the welcome wagon for a lot of punk bands we saw and played with because we always got there early and talked to the band members and most were really cool guy's.

      Another great story man. I became a huge fan of theirs after discovering M&Ms as well around 96-97 prior to Dude Ranch. I first heard of them on a local college radio station that played pop/skate punk on Tuesday nights at the time, WVUM. As a matter of fact I discovered tons of great bands that way.

      90s Punk Rock Covers we had one of those on Thursday in the late 80's called KSYM and that's how i discovered Crimpshrine, One Man Running, Green Day (not knowing it was them till around 90' and a lot of others as well . I used sit in front of my stereo with a cassette at the ready for recording, i usually just hot record at every song just incase it was a good one and then if it stunk i just rewound the tape and got ready for the next song.

      I went to a Pennywise show at the Metro in Sydney, Australia in 1996. Me and a couple mates got there early and had a few beers in the bar, there was this young American dude siting at the bar drinking a beer we got to talking, he was mostly excited that he was allowed to have a beer being the legal age is 18 not 21. After a while another American dude comes over to the bar, sits down and orders a beer, we were just chatting over a couple beers and one dude says "hey man nice to met you Im Scott we gotta go we are up next." It was Scott and Tom from Blink, at the time I and most of the other people there had never heard of these guys. There were about 50 people there watching their set, by the time Pennywise took the stage it was a full house of over 800 people. Crazy to think how big these guys would be just a few years after that night!

    Enema and TOYP are bigger, but Dude Ranch may be Blink at their most pop punk

    • @90sPunkRockCovers
      @90sPunkRockCovers  2 месяца назад

      Agreed. Sonically, I think Enema is Blink's best sounding, best produced and most memorable album in terms of music. I still love Dude Ranch because it was the album that made me fall in love with the band. I discovered them through Cheshire Cat and I love that album as well but Dude Ranch just spoke to me. Cheers 🍻

    • @justinTime077
      @justinTime077 3 года назад

      @@90sPunkRockCovers oh wow my bad. I think I was cooking dinner and somehow missed it when I “watched” your video. Cool. I have a single rectifier on the way. I hope it has the same tones without the tube rectification.. I couldn’t quite afford the dual/triple. If it doesn’t I’m selling it and going for the real deal.

    • @justinTime077
      @justinTime077 3 года назад

      Also that’s a sick guitar! I would take the pickguard off that though. I hate those pickguards, and they’re known to fuck up the paint job/stuff! If you care. That’s just me.

    • @90sPunkRockCovers
      @90sPunkRockCovers  3 года назад

      @@justinTime077 no worries. I used to own a Single Rectifier many years ago, I really liked it with EL34s in it. I remember liking it better than using the stock 6L6s but it’s been so long that my tastes have changed since then. Good luck with your purchase.
